I don't dislike vocal music; I was just saying that, in Opera, oftentimes the vocal parts are very redundant, which is what I generally don't care for, whether it be a singer, or the brass in Beethoven's Fifth Symphony-- do you

Anyway, yes, that singer has a very good voice (though, for that piece, I still prefer the orchestration be more lush; and in your recording, they are keeping it more reserved, restrained, so as to allow the singer the full spotlight).

Here is more Bizet, some lovely music played in between acts-- Entr'acte music-- which is strictly instrumental (and which I'd much rather listen to than the "Habanera") from Carmen.

 

I'd listed Respighi, among those whose "classical" work, I've posted here. It turns out that was untrue (though I've talked about him, in another thread). So I'll start rectifying that, now. While what I most like, are his orchestrations of older airs and dances, I will start off with one of his grander, and best known works, "The Pines of Rome." This is one of the pieces in which Respighi uses the orchestra to create certain effects which are impressive and unique, and for which he is most identified with, as being his most notable talent (as well as being known for his operas, as that was his specialty). I especially like the slower, second movement in this. The slow third movement, also has its charms; but the mounting climax in the fourth movement, cannot be missed. The entire piece is 23 minutes, with the start of each new movement being noted, onscreen.

But, before that, I'm including Stravinsky's ballet, Petrushka, because of some similarity in flavor, in my mind, between the first movement of "The Pines...," and Petrushka's opening, First Tableau. While the recording I chose, includes the full 40 minutes of ballet music, that first part of Petrushka is only about 5 minutes long, and it will be apparent when it ends, with climaxing drums, followed by a single burp, from a bassoon.

Since I realize that most will want to post, and hear, pop tunes-- I'm adding this feel-good song, as a segue from the non-pop stuff, I'd just posted.

Nice stuff. These guys remember me of a song (forgot the band name) where a man with a guitar case is thrown out of a car by his wife.
As he walks along the road, his girl came back, regretting and hugging him. He then grabs her car keys and throws them into the woods.

 

the amazing thing was the band members were in their mid teens. They have won-at the time of their current 12 year dormancy more ARIA awards than any other act in history

I've always thought of that song as very chill, and mellowing. You find that it gets you pumped up? Interesting-- the uniqueness of each of our (humans') perceptions. I've had the exact same thing happen, though: telling some people that a song really rocks, only to have them laugh, when I played it (Jefferson Airplane, in its final incarnation, doing "Women Who Fly").


And yet, also, the Pixies' "Debaser" comes across to you, as "incredibly sweet." Curious-- but I'm glad you liked it.
