Pretty disgusting. Many parents entrust these institutions to take care of their children and then this happens. Hopefully, someone can campaign on making churches safer for children so that these things don't happen.

 

Sadly, rightwing preachers and catholic priests have a sordid reputation in this area.

Can't even pretend to be surprised by this stuff any more. So terrible that children are forced into the company of people like this and then have to live with the consequences of their perversions.

Also can't be surprised at the silence of people who think a man in a dress reading a storybook is the end of the world but suddenly lose interest when actual abuse happens at the hands of a church official.

Churches are one of the few places that have specific laws tailored so they do not have to report abuse. And there seems to be a major issue worldwide with religious institutions hiding pedophiles so they can hurt more children.

Let us know when an entire district conspires to hide these individuals and then lobbies state and federal governments to decrease penalties for those crimes.

Anyone that sexually harms a child should be punished to the maximum extent of the law but it seems like only one group gets excuses made for them or sees people trying to deflect as you have so excellently done here.

I do. The difference is the long history of covering up sex abuse of religious leaders at the highest level.

If a school actively buried sexual abuse of children, there would be public outrage. When a church covers up the crime, people just ignore the coverup.

No, life without parole is fine. Too many innocent people get convicted over complete fiction for the death penalty to apply. For murder, at least there is a dead body.
