If you are not voting for Biden, and you are voting for Trump, you are to the right of me. Looks like you took time off from posting on this forum, then came back. Well, you missed a lot of debating that has been going on.

From a 'conflict of interest' point of view, there is no difference.

As I said before, Mr Trump and his businesses are separate entities. It is ridiculous to infer that if Putin stayed in a hotel room at Trump Tower, that the fee he paid amounts to an emolument.

    The clause says:
No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

I asked you to point to an instance where President Trump was given anything from a foreign state. You claim they gave him $7 million. Should be easy.

part of it goes to him.

But the issue is 'conflict of interest'.

THat is the issue. And unless he divests, there is a conflict of interest.

It's wrong. I dont even know why you are defending Trump.

    Now I’ve seen it all.

Corrupt politician on video “confessing” to things he is accused of by those “NOT” on your side and the video of said corrupt politician has been debunked.

By who, no wait, lemme guess: one of your “trusted” news sources?

The definition of lying is saying something which is not true. They are lies.

I hate what he does. I don't hate him as a person.

By the way. Don't you hate Trump?

One small correction: Lying is saying something you KNOW to be untrue. People say things that they believe to be true, but aren't, all the time.

    Correct.

One small correction. No one does anything all the time except for some essential bodily functions.

Well, in the OP you said the issue was over $7m in payments to President Trump from foreign countries. Then, later, you said: no, the issue was emoluments. Now, the issue is conflict of interest?
I don't defend Trump.. I defend TRUTH. Until you can show me where "President Trump received over $7M from foreign countries", I will consider the OP as untrue, fake news, propaganda.

LLC's allow people to separate business liability from personal assets but Trump still profits personally from the kinds of payments, from foreign governments, made to properties the LLC's under his control take in.

That is yet to be determined. His hotels and businesses have an overhead and direct expenses and he is allowed to cover his overhead and direct expenses. I have not seen any proof he charged beyond those amounts.

Correct, though a person who is doing essential body functions "all the time" is a harsh visual; thanks for that. I didn't use the phrase "people do X all the time" to be taken so literally. I meant it as "it is common for people to do X". It is common for people to say "people do X all the time" when they mean X is a common, but not constant, thing people do.

It is correct to say, for instance: "people get speeding tickets all the time" because at pretty much any moment of any day, or "all the time", people are getting speeding tickets. That is not to say that an individual is getting a traffic ticket at every moment of every day, nor is it to say that everyone will get one.

To be sure, we know about only some of the payments that passed into former President Trump’s hands during just two years of his presidency from just 20 of the more than 190 nations in the world through just four of his more than 500 businesses. Despite the Constitution’s requirement that a president disclose foreign emoluments and seek Congress’s consent to keep them, it took Oversight Committee Democrats years of aggressive litigation against the former President to obtain the subset of documents from Mazars, Donald Trump’s accounting firm, that form the factual basis of this report. And then, in January 2023, Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer made the abrupt and outrageous decision to release Mazars from having to continue complying with the Committee’s subpoena and court-supervised settlement agreement. Despite Chairman Comer’s decision to bury further evidence, however, even this small slice of a picture of unknown proportions allows America to glimpse the rampant illegality and corruption of the Trump presidency. It is true that $7.8 million is almost certainly only a fraction of Trump’s harvest of unlawful foreign state money, but this figure in itself is a scandal and a decisive spur to action.

The documents at the Penn Biden center was found 6 months (May) prior to the November lie they told us.... more election interference and coverup.... Michael Carpenter, just like Joe Biden, would have had direct knowledge of this lie from the get go...

Michael Carpenter was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Ukraine when Biden was over there blackmailing the Ukraine government in the video...

"all the time" has become a phase which tends to irritate me because it is used so often to excuse unacceptable behavior.

So, to be less irritating, let me rephrase: "It is quite common for people say things that they believe to be true, but aren't." Doing so isn't lying.

However, that takes me back to my original statements. The claim was made by Patricio that Biden does not lie. "He only misstates or exaggerates". Biden's lies are what we commonly call whoppers.

    You haven't seen sh*t
I swear, this conspiracy theory has been debunked up one said and down the other, for years, and you are completely unaware of this? Tsk tsk.

It's clear you do not know what 'extortion' is. You see, there has to a personal benefit, and the beneficiary in what Biden was describing, IS the United states, that of our allies and the international monetary fund, noting that this move was approved by both Republicans and Democrats in the Senate at the time. At the time, Shokin, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, it was widely known that he was not investigating and fighting corruption in Ukraine, which posed the issue for Obama, who didn't want to send aid to Ukraine and have that aid not go for it's intended purpose, aid that would be diverted for corrupt purposes. So, it was the concern of the above mentioned parties that Shokin be removed, to clear the way for aid to Ukraine to protect the country against Russian aggression.

There is no crime in the video. Using leverage for foreign policy aims is a common diplomacy move.

There was no confessing, he was bragging how he got Shokin fired. I've posted a number of threads debunking this in the past few years. What, you think Biden, as VP, a member of the senate for some 30 years, would 'confess' to a crime on national TV (let alone commit one)?

    Get real.

Please keep up. This is old old news.

As for the Biden/Ukraine conspiracy theory, this is not an issue, it's called 'foreign policy of the region with the approval of congress, the senate, and the international monetary fund'. All it was was Biden pressuring Ukraine to fire Shokin, the prosecutor who wasn't doing his job to clean up corruption in Ukraine. If anything, they weren't investigating Burisma. THe whole narrative that Biden wanted Shokin fired because Shokin was investigating Burisma, well, in fact, the exact opposite is true.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate...emember-signing-2016-letter-urging-reform-of/

““The United States, the European Union, the I.M.F., and Ukraine’s leading reform figures were all pressing for Viktor Shokin to be removed from office because he was one of the biggest obstacles to fighting corruption in the entire country. This was a bipartisan goal in Congress as well.”

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biden–Ukraine_conspiracy_theory

The conspiracy theory alleges that then-Vice President Biden withheld loan guarantees to pressure Ukraine into firing a prosecutor to prevent a corruption investigation into Burisma and to protect his son. The United States did withhold government aid to pressure Ukraine into removing the prosecutor, in accord with the official and bipartisan policy of the federal government of the United States. The US government, along with the European Union, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, believed the prosecutor to be corrupt and ineffective and too lenient in investigating companies and oligarchs, including Burisma and its owner. A January 2018 video shows Biden taking credit for withholding the loan guarantees to have the prosecutor fired, acting to implement bipartisan US policy rather than for the reasons the conspiracy theory alleges.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...r-joe-investigation-impeachment-a9147001.html

Donald Trump said Ukraine’s former chief prosecutor was an honest, wronged man, fired after Joe Biden tried to shut down an investigation into his son’s gas company. In Kiev, Oliver Carroll speaks to people who know Viktor Shokin, and finds a different story

Republicans wanted Shokin removed, as well:

(Even the GOP chairman of the Homeland Security Committee which spearheaded this report, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, backed the effort to remove Shokin, saying the “whole world” agreed he wasn’t doing a good job.)

    [...]

Viktor Shokin was appointed to the position of Prosecutor General of Ukraine by Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko, whom he was loyal to. Representatives of the EU and the United States pressed Poroshenko for his removal[21] as did the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.[22] In March 2016 testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, former ambassador to Ukraine John E. Herbst stated, "By late fall of 2015, the EU and the United States joined the chorus of those seeking Mr. Shokin's removal" and that Joe Biden "spoke publicly about this before and during his December visit to Kyiv". During the same hearing, assistant secretary of state Victoria Nuland stated, "we have pegged our next $1 billion loan guarantee, first and foremost, to having a rebooting of the reform coalition so that we know who we are working with, but secondarily, to ensuring that the prosecutor general's office gets cleaned up." An overwhelming majority vote in the Ukrainian Parliament in March 2016 led to Shokin's removal from office after an investigation into extortion of another company led to associates who were found in possession of diamonds, cash and other valuables[24] as well as documents and passports belonging to Shokin.

There are around two hundred countries . It is likely that there are hundreds of corrupt officials in those countries. Did Biden get any of the others fired or only the one that likely benefitted his son?

To 'hate what he does', as you do, is to color what he does derived from hatred of the man.

If you didn't hate him, personally, you wouldn't 'hate what he does', because, if you were Joe's friend, you'd color 'what he does' in a different light, they would more in the 'he's like other politicians' coloration.

You don't see how your hatred of the man colors your interpretation of 'what he does'?

Of course you can't, you can't jump out of your own skin to do it.
I have a valid reason to hold Trump in contempt, noting the overwhelming evidence against him, his despicable acts, deeds, things he has said, and his mind boggling lies of a magnitude that Biden comes no where near as close, yet you can't see it, which I find astonishing.

    Let's not forget:

Trump has, for the first time in history

Called the press, 'the enemy of the people'.

Is suing to obtain total immunity form all criminal acts committed while president

Alleged that Democrats 'in order to win, they have to rig the election' and made that declaration before the first ballot was ever cast.

Fornicated with a porn star just after his newly wed wife gave birth, and then paid her $130k to keep quiet about it (this alone, in prior years, would have got him thrown out of politics).

Said that immigrants coming to the U.S. are “poisoning the blood of our country,”

Engaged in a vast conspiracy to deny Biden 270 electors in an unlawful attempt to throw the vote to the house, and/or replace Biden electors with Trump electors by way of delaying the joint session of congress and getting Pence on board with the idea, all of which constitutes a soft coup, something that no president in history ever attempted, and for which he has now some 45 felony counts against him.

Still won't concede that he lost the 2020 election, and continues to lie that he won, and that Biden cheated, though no evidence ever was produced to convince any court of law that he was right, he lost some 60 law suits.

And, I have got about 30,000 more words describing is various abominable acts.

It didn't benefit his son, it did the opposite. Shokin wasn't investigating any corruption, including Burisma. Your premise is utterly false.

It wasn't merely about corruption in one country among hundreds.

Ukraine's sovereignty is under threat by Russia, and it's sovereignty has strategic value in the region for the US, our allies, and the IMF, far more than many other countries. Other countries of strategic value would include Taiwan, Poland and the Baltics.

At this juncture, Ukraine is under threat much more than the others (except Taiwan), which is why we are sending them aid.

    Do your homework, kriman.

I wish this mattered, but it really doesn't anymore. Trump has cart blanche to violate the emoluments clauses (yes, Trump supporters, there's more than one) any time he wants to. The courts have basically decided it doesn't apply to him.
