On my days off/2008, I once traveled to Evora, Portugal…..a very beautiful city. Back then, my family was lodged in Barcelona, Spain, and I was working offshore North of Tripoli, Libya.

That's pretty much how we got to this place - Obama, Biden & Co. appeasing Iran.

What could possibly go wrong?

Maybe Biden and the "progressive" illiterati pulling his strings should have stomped Iran's sand fleas in Yemen months ago. Better to ship all our stuff around the Horn of Africa than upset the "Death to America!" crowd they crawled into bed with, eh?

So, lost in that bizarre rant is general agreement that we need to stop these people from interrupting international shipping through the Red Sea?? Cause anything else is just going to seem weird....

Do you want to know why I don’t go into the woods and kick a bear in the nuts? It’s because if I did my life expectancy would be measured in seconds. Now if I kicked Biden in the nuts I’d be rewarded.

More WW3 jitters from the Trumpers, thus, to reduce tensions, we should allow the Houthis to target more ships that have no connections with Israel.

But wait a minute, in response to a Greek cargo ship attack, the Greece government also dispatched a warship in the Red Sea.

Amazing theory, that... Typical MAGA.... don't want to solve the problem, just assign blame.....

Just read this article that the administration is going to RE-designate the Houthis a global terrorist entity

    https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/16/poli...on-houthis-global-terrorist-entity/index.html

In hindsight, probably not the best idea to remove it in the first place, but the Blinken intent to save lives counts for something. Also, no evidence that having that designation on would have prevented these attacks (likely not - sounds like a paper designation to me)

As always, it's great to have an administration that is capable of adjusting to conditions as they occur..... relish it while it lasts...

Apparently, what was lost in my comments and conveniently overlooked in your reply is the fact that 1) appeasing Obama and Biden's pals in the "Death to America!" crowd in Tehran is what got us here in the first place and 2) it probably explains why the weak and incompetent "leadership" in the WH didn't put an end to this problem months ago, instead of fecklessly dithering until after shipping companies had already begun rerouting their container ships around the Cape of Good Hope.

But, let's relish the myriad failures and mistakes of this administration and the fairytales about its competence while conflicts around the world continue to spread under its watch.

I'll take it that there's a yes in there somewhere... best I can hope for...

You might notice they haven't necessarily "put an end" to the problem yet, preferring to try NOT causing a full blown war (AKA The MAGA way)

Also, I find it nice to have allies actually with us instead of lumbering in alone...

Would $6 billion be a sufficient reward?

Funny how some people think a doddering old fart who can't stay on top of a bike, walk across a floor and climb a flight of stairs could kick anybody's ass...

Iowans told us Americans are most concerned with how Biden is handling the border. Immigration number one concern behind the economy. If the border looks open, behaves open and Democrats keeping denying it's open well then IT's OPEN!

As I stated earlier, the Houthis should have been stomped months ago, but Five Deferments Joe is afraid of upsetting his and Obama's pals in the "Death to America!" crowd.

Yes, we all noticed, and we're all surprised, to boot. Better to have a half-assed war, where an Iranian-backed militia operating in a failed state can continue to attack U.S. warships and commercial vessels (aka The Biden Way) than to get into a "full blown war" where the United States of America and what's left of what is or was the most powerful military on the planet, stomps Iran's sand fleas in Yemen into the dust.

Yes, the international community has really stepped up, hasn't it? Look at the broad coalition of nations who participated in the recent airstrikes. Brandon's hella awesome "leadership" really paid dividends there, didn't it?

In all seriousness, it's nice we have one reliable ally (as I recall, these were the people Obama crapped on, wasn't it?), which pretty much leaves us to "lumber in" and defend our people and interests, and apparently everyone else's people and interests, on our own.

Yeah, great bunch of allies we have. What I would find nice is them stepping up and assuming their proper places and roles in what were supposed to be the new multipolar power dynamics of the 21st Century, but they haven't. They've grown fat, lazy and socialist under the Pax Americana, and some people in this country wonder why their compatriots are sick and tired of this arrangement and the inordinate amount of blood and treasure we've had to expend.

Oh, wonderful - this just in:

Lovely. Yet another fire breaks out, and what a surprise to find Obiden's buddies in Iran putting their recent $6 billion windfall to more use...

It is a little more dire than that. They are only targeting ships aligned with American interests. They are letting Chinese ships through. Some ships are IDing themselves as Chinese to escape attack. If nothing demonstrates America's fall from power and China's rise, this does. If America is unable to protect shipping there, the dollar must collapse. One of the bedrocks of the petrol dollar is that America could protect international shipping. It is currently failing. This is a massive story with severe long term implications for the American empire.

    upload_2024-1-17_12-30-6.png

This is coming on the heels of Russia just surpassing Germany in GDP. This is another story demonstrating to the world that the talons have been removed from the American eagle. We wage economic war on our enemy and they come out stronger for the experience while our "ally" goes into economic freefall resulting in widespread riots and protests. Perhaps blowing up the Nordstream pipeline wasn't such a great idea. It certainly hurt Germany far far more than Russia. Economically Russia is more self-reliant than ever.

Top it all off with 50% fall in the recruitment of white soldiers in the past four years (while minority recruitment stayed steady) and we are now looking at something close to an existential crisis for America. I find it hilarious when MSM post articles in which they are perplexed as to the cause of the historic drop-off. They can't be this stupid, it has to be gaslighting.

What should be concerning to all of us is that empires often collapse only after a bloody war. America is in collapse and that is obvious to everybody. If it gets into a real world war right now, it could easily trigger an internal civil war. No matter who is in power, half the country are going to consider that party an existential threat to the country. No way in hell are they going to sign up to fight for a party that is their enemy.

In the name of profits, Americans gave away its manufacturing power to its enemies. The butcher's bill is now within sight for that mistake. The only question is how high it will be. From my perspective, the skies the limit.

Why are the Houthis being designated as terrorists now? They are fighting against the barbarism of Israel, and their attacks haven't killed anyone, just disrupted trade. the US disrupts trade all the time with sanctions and whatnot. Why is it considered terrorism when the Houthis do it, but not when western nations do it?

Not to mention the Houthis have been withstanding airstrikes for many years. what does the US and UK think they will accomplish, except to get sucked further into this absurd conflict?

So many double standards in this conflict. The conflict expands while the idiotic leaders on all sides make it worse, and the innocent civilians suffer.

The targeting of international shipping through an international waterway with missile strikes... that's textbook global terrorism

The US doesn't do that as part of sanctions and "whatnot" (but funny try)

I think Israel needs to be reined in as well, but I don't see this is the way to do it
