The border legislation was in the bill because Republicans insisted upon it. Democrats compromised and gave the GOP nearly everything they asked for. Then Johnson went to his master, Trump, who told him not to bring the bill to the floor.

Trump and his Republicans are not interested in solving problems at the border while Biden is still in office. Wake up and smell the hypocrisy.

I think there should be a demand based program where we allow pre-screened/qualified people to work temporarily in US on an as-needed bases. For example now there is a demand for construction workers, so we could allow some pre-screened construction workers to come in and work on projects.

As for the topic, it seems clear Johnson is just a Trump spokes person, and Trump is the de-factor Speaker Of The House. Chain of command: Putin tells Trump, Trump tells Johnson, and Johnson tells the House.

De-funding Ukraine is top priority for Putin, which is why he wants Trump to tell Johnson to defund it, and more chaos at the border helps Trump politically, so Putin-Trump foment more chaos by turning down a bill which would have solved it.

When you have the Mayor of NY, publicly state, he can't even turn criminal illegals over to ICE for deportation, then another agenda exist.

Trumps was 2.5 million over 4 years and they were deported back to Mexico or had to wait in Mexico for asylum claims, of which only about 6% even qualify.

Even the latest border bill required 1.8 million per year? Nobody who has any notion of protecting Americans or our economy would promote such.

Republicans had initially demanded border policy changes in exchange for Ukraine aid, but abandoned that trade-off this week quickly after the border deal was announced, deeming it inadequate.

So Republicans agreed to allow a Ukraine aid in the bill IN EXCHANGE for border policy changes.
Those changes included 1.8 million illegal per year. Which no Republican is voting for.
Why is it that the left always leaves that part out?
Because their propaganda is more important than the truth.

Unless you are here to claim that we should sign such a bill.

This bill has two provisions, does it not?
One provision for border policy and one provision for aid.

Senators released a $118 billion package that pairs border enforcement policy with wartime aid for Ukraine, Israel and other U.S. allies,
McConnell had insisted last year that any border policy changes be included in the national security funding package.

Republicans provided (and passed in the House) HR2 last May which was not even provided to the Senate for a vote.

This new (supposed) bipartisan proposal was aimed at gaining control of an asylum system that has been overwhelmed by historic numbers of migrants coming to the border.
All while Congress was stalled on approving $60 billion in Ukraine aid, which the U.S. has halted shipments of ammunition and missiles to Kyiv.
And the reason they are stalled is because Republican support for billions more to Ukraine have become more and more divided.

So, in an effort to get a better solution to the border, Republicans agreed they would support Democrats 60 billion aid package IN EXCHANGE for better border security.

And what did they get for this exchange?
5000 illegals a day and 1.8 million per year allowed into the US.
Which made the bill dead on arrival.

Also meaning that 60 billion to Ukraine is also dead on arrival.

But as per usual, instead of providing the actual truthful context, Democrats run to their media sources to claim, Republicans shot down our border bill, which gave them everything they asked for, just so they could stop Biden from getting a win.

Pretty much everyone knows the 8 million is the encounter stat, and not how many were 'released' into US. Millions were expulsed/turned back, and most others are waiting to have their applications rejected.

Trump/Putin ordered Johnson to kill the border solution, so we are stuck with the status quo. It is what it is.
