    https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/trump-tiktok-ban-reversal-china-jeff-yass-why.html

Congress has been moving rapidly for force a sale of Tik Tok due to national security concerns over it being owned by Bytedance which has ties to state-owned China Media Group harvesting user data. In 2020, Trump proposed a ban due to these same national security concerns, but appears to have reversed his opinion after meeting with a mega-wealthy donor of the republican party.

So why the sudden reversal from Trump? Why is Trump supporting an application that can be used to spy on US citizens by our worst foreign adversary? What did China say to Trump and what did they offer to him to change his mind?

Maybe they just offered to work with his admin to make it more secure. The point here should be that Trump is capable of changing his mind on an issue ...if folks go talk to him about it instead of holding a press conference to call him Hitler.

Do you think we should ban ticktock?

trump only seems to change his mind if he can profit off it it.

Since it’s owned by the Chinese I wonder why none of you are screaming he is in China’s pocket?

Watch the GOP Congress critters reverse their opinion on TikTok in a millisecond. Whatever the great leader says has to be followed.

I don't think banning things is the solution.

What do you think needs to be done about ticktock (if anything)?

I think we need a federal data protection bill that would apply equally to all companies.

Trump willing to give our data to our worst foreign adversary if they donate to his campaign. Disgusting.

Me either. Why are you complaining that Trump was convinced to rethink banning it?

Sounds good on paper. Doesn't sound like something we could reasonably trust FedGov to actually do...

Are you unhappy that Trump was convinced that banning ticktock isn't a good idea?

Trump has apparently already been convinced its not the best course of action...

I asked you what you think we should do about ticktock. Are you just mad that Trump isn't going to ban it because you don't wanna agree with Trump? I don't see what the problem is here...

Its more like a fact. Trump does this when he or his family gets something in return.

He made the infamous comment about saving Chinese jobs after Ivanka got patents approved by China.

The CCP knows they Trump in their pocket.

That’s their job and an overall privacy bill is needed. Just targeting one company isn’t just.

I would need to see his reasoning and new solution.

Looking at his prior policy adjustments it’s because he or his donors would somehow benefit.
