So you are all for the minimum tax Biden proposes on the hyper rich. Gotcha, good for you.

Nobody is denying any of this. It's no secret that Citizens United opened the floodgates for dark money in politics, because "money is speech". All this donor money corrupts, it should not surprise anyone, other than maybe GOP voters and their partisan Supreme Court majority that pushed through this decision.

Let me put it so you very simply: Voters HATE paying taxes. They also LOVE government services. So, what do politicians do, if they want to get elected? They expand government services, but allow voters to not pay for them by cutting taxes. Can you imagine the backlash that Biden would have faced if he had advocated for taking back Trump's tax cuts? Once the taxes have been cut, and voters have gotten used to the lower tax levels, it is almost impossible to reverse this, at least for politicians who actually want to win election.

If I have this right, you are suggesting Trump's popularity comes from telling people the "truth" that their plight is not their fault. They live in trailer parks, don't have $1K in emergency money, and are frustrated with their lives, or the way things are generally, not because they haven't worked hard enough, or tried long enough, or made good decisions, or demanded more from the elected representatives over which they have control, but because "the system" is against them. Paradoxically, he allowed them to blame people like him for their circumstance. Then told them "I alone can fix it." Just give me power and I will make "them" pay. While proceeding to abandon them, duping them in to believing he is on their side.

If I have this right, they don't mind if he wants to send troops in to the streets to stop protests against him, wants to replace thousands of civil servants with loyalists, wants to use the DoJ to exact revenge against those who tried to bring him to justice, and put more lackeys like Aileen Cannon on the bench, because their rage and their gullibility make them think it's all going to be different once he's prez again. I thought conservatives were in favor of being personally responsible for their lives.

This is why we, those of us who do not buy what he is selling, think of him as a conman. A manipulator of people. The kind of man who takes money out of a charity to pay for a painting of himself. The kind of man who asks regular working people to pay for his legal defense while claiming to be worth billions of dollars. The kind of man who already has shown the only concern he has for the people who support him is the length of time he can keep the con going.

It does take a special kind of stupid to give money to a supposed billionaire. The level of stupidity in this country never ceases to amaze me.

Well, he did tell the truth and then went on to give even more tax breaks to the hyper rich. We steal from you and when elected I'll see to it we steal more. The Forbes 400 richest last year paid only 8% of their incomes on average in taxes while the middle class was paying over double that in SS and Medicare alone.

If the "system is rigged," which I do not believe, who is responsible for allowing it to be so? The answer is clear, "we the people."

Biden can't change it, it has to pass both houses, and repubs in the house will shoot it down.

The OP is based on Trump's comments BEFORE being president. Since you seem to have ignored the OP, let me help you out here. Trump made ZERO effort to hide the fact that he enjoys TREMENDOUS benefits from tax loop holes. When was the last time a democrat politician, or a republican one for that matter so openly admitted it. People love honesty, thats why they love trump. Please try and pay more attention to OPs, this OP is about PRE-President Trump
    Thanks!

Everyone pays less taxes with his tax changes and a lot more people paying taxes. It's a win-win that must hurt. The standard deduction doubled so that even low income families, that pay little tax, would benefit. Yes, wealthy people saw a bigger benefit but they pay more taxes. You too could see that benefit if you get better jobs and pay more taxes.

I'm poor and a higher deduction sounds EXCELLENT.

    I'd rather have cheaper healthcare.

And in any case I don't want billions and bullions (channeling
Carl Sagan) being spent on weapons for killing Ukrainians,
Russians and Palestinians, that most of all.

As well as money there is also morality.

I also want a future, I get depressed a bit with the way it is going
Biden offending our allies, destroying the basis of the dollar.

I do have children and I want them to have a future.

I don't really care how rich Jeff Bezos gets, I don't want to be
party to killing so many Palestinians, about 250 a day at present
and looks like it will rise due to disease, starvation, lack of water
and lack of electricity and shipments of bombs.

Next is where you pretend that he is a bad man for doing the same exact thing that Democrats routinely do.

Less than 5% of the national defense budget is spent on helping Ukraine.

The strategic benefit of stopping the spread of totalitarian autocracy in the region, and in Europe and the Baltics by extension, is incalculable and the price is a BARGAIN.

Therefore, only a fool would not back Ukraine. If you don't help friends, you wind up with none.

So since dems do the same thing that means trump is not a bad guy for doing it. Got it.

You would have to actually make one instead of giving some lame excuse for a lack of action

Somebody being a hypocrite doesn't make them wrong or otherwise invalidate any point they may have.
