The US issued a public warning of a possible attack of some sort in Moscow on or around March 8. Not sure if they specified who, but given what was said in public there is every possibility they gave more detailed warnings to Russia in private.

Russia and its shills are inevitably going to try to make it about the West & Ukraine, but given Russia's record of killing Muslims generally & fighting ISIS specifically this shouldn't come as a surprise. Not exactly the first mass casualty attacks by militant Islamists in Russia.

 

The stuff in Ukraine started when Russia started meddling in Ukraine's politics, then escalated when they invaded Crimea and the Donbas in 2014, then escalated again when they launched the large-scale 2022 invasion.

The stuff with ISIS started god knows when. Maybe when they went into Syria to prop up the Assad regime and bomb ISIS and others in the process, or when they started working so closely with Iran so they could get Shahed drones to use against Ukraine, or when they started sending Wagner into various African republics, where they have no doubt made many enemies.

Now they, like US and Europe, are targets for the Islamic radicals they have chosen to fight either directly or indirectly. It was nice of us to warn them when we had intelligence indicating that such an attack was being planned. Shame it did no good in the end.
