Happy is a stupid rating criteria.

    So subjective. So emotional.

I have zero cares about these kind of studies. They serve absolutley no purpose and make no point.

If you think about what really effects people's lives, it's local issues. I believe that Homeowner's Associations (HOAs) are the biggest reason why many Americans are unhappy. Between 60-80% of Americans think negatively about HOAs, and yet almost any subdivision (in-town or rural) developed since 1990 are under HOAs. The number one question realtors are asked is --- "Is there an HOA?". The HOAs are nearly impossible to get rid of, because covenants require a large percentage of voters to legally dissolve an HOA. Often, there is common land or parks or swimming pools, which makes it even more difficult. They suck!

I posed the premise that we should perhaps looks at the policies of the leading nations and that a specific event looks to have spiked unhappiness in some groups.

To which you responded with a bunch of photos of people and then got upset when your side was posted.

You can add that to the list of things you are incorrect about then.

So as usual, zero policy positions. Just memes and boring rhetoric unable to follow the thread.

    Got it

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, the happiness index under Biden has the US dropped from 15th place in happiness in the world to 23rd. Yes, Biden has turned the US into a $hithole country, which is reflected in the happiness survey.

You would think being number one in the world in military spending and prison population, we would rank higher as one of the happiest countries in the world.

I’m under the impression that a little bit more is involved in taking us from a relatively high spot to a slightly less higher spot, out of 193 independent nations.

    In addition to the above, I had 5 uncles who owned successful businesses, all Norwegian descendants;

Type of businessmen; Family first, family oriented company
    No greed
    No rat racers
    Very high employee retention rate

Thus, if anyone is looking for a job in North Dakota, work for a Norsk, and you’ll be happy.

You were born into a world where an unskilled laborer could purchase a house and support a large family.

The median house cost is now over $450K and the median salary is $45K. Housing is therefor 10 times a workers annual salary.
In 1960, the median house cost was $11.9K and the median salary was 5.6K. Housing was therefor around 2 times a workers annual salary.
If this trend continues, the median house cost 60 years from now will be 50 times a workers annual salary.

What the elites of your generation did was to loot out the system their forefathers created and replaced it with a serfdom. Look at the trends above and the future looks extremely grim for future generations. They have good reason to be worried about it.

    I both agree and disagree.

Pay has not kept pace with housing costs.

But there are also some other factors to consider:

1960s: The average new-home size grew to 1,200 square feet, giving its 3.33 residents a spacious 360 square feet of room apiece. The bedroom-bathroom ratio flipped from the previous decade, with 2.5 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. And this was drastically higher than the 909 square feet just 10 years prior.

    2021: 2400 square feet.

We also have far more tech, which costs money to buy and install, larger garages (many 1960s didn't have a garage at all, walk down basements and walk up attics and bonus rooms not counted in square foot. Central heat and air, etc. etc. All built on much bigger lots.

Upgraded and more expensive materials, solid surface natural materials, brick instead of wood siding.

Could I build a house today for double the average household salary of $78k or $164,000 that MATCHES a 1200 square foot house without a garage, over a crawlspace, 2.5 bedrooms on a 10,000 square foot lot?

Likely no, but it would be much closer than what's represented in your post. You're comparing a single income now verse a household income then.

Statistics are often misleading rather than informative. Happiness is a subjective thing. It isn't something you can quantify. Most of the data are opinions. Even a poll is the result of gathering opinions.

I told them to make more Megan Fox movies. This is what happens when they didn't.

I just noticed all the other countries have alternative foods in the stores. It is well time we go to having alternative meats along with worms and insects in the stores. First off let's lift the ban on Haggis.

Especially the ancient Bedouin variant of Haggis: powdered camel hair and blood.

I was thinking Camel urine, but people would be to easy in selling fake stuff. Let's just hurry up and get meal worms and crickets into the stores and schools.

Yes, but there are still a few things that are objectively true.

The criteria that establishes "happiness" is largely subjective to the author's priorities.

Finland placed first, as it has for the last 7 years. So let's compare on the factors I find important:

    Median Wage:

    United States - $40,480
    Finland - $45,684

    Taxes on Median Wage:
    United States - 30.5%
    Finland - 31.1%

    Finland Average House Size:
United States - 2,204 Square Feet
    Finland - 880 Square Feet

Number of Passenger Vehicles per 1000:
    United States - 908
    Finland - 790

    Unemployment Rate:
    United States - 3.9%
    Finland - 6.8%

Most of these studies just compare "rent"... well there is a drastic different in rent if comparing the cost of an apartment that are hugely different in size and amenities. But these don't weigh in. "You get cheaper rent and the ability to take public transportation everywhere there, so they are happier". Really?

I've never seen haggis at our supermarket. It isn't hard to imagine why.
