Many Americans believe the country is becoming a virtual dictatorship with a solid majority saying President Joe Biden wants to put former President Donald Trump in jail to stop his electoral chances, a new McLaughlin poll finds.

We should note that Russian President Vladimir Putin just won reelection by 88%.
But he did so only after Putin first jailed his leading political opponent, Alexei Navalny, and many of his supporters. (Sadly, Navalny recently died while in prison.)

Now Biden's playbook against Trump seems eerily similar.
At least a majority of American voters think so.

In our new national poll 56% of all voters think Biden really wants to stop Trump from winning by putting him in jail. The national poll of 1,000 likely voters with plus or minus 3.1% at the 95% confidence interval was completed between March 9 and March 14.

Only 30% say it's not true that Biden is trying to jail Trump.

A supermajority of Republicans, 86%, agree that Biden is weaponizing the justice system against Trump.

This is also not a partisan issue.

Independents agree 50% to 33% that Biden is seeking to jail Trump for political reasons, with moderates agreeing 48% to 32%.

Comes down to what kind of nation you want to live in.

The GOP had plenty of qualified candidates to pick from who did not have trouble with the law. But, no, they picked the one with almost 90 charges against him. It's almost like they WANTED to play the victim card against the Dems.

But, talking about dictator and murderer Putin and his illicit election "win", I wonder why Trump admires him so much, and why the Trump party and their voters are hellbent to make sure he wins against Ukraine.

 

I want one where we don't elect traitors to the Presidency.

I remember the same thing being said about Obama.There was routine annual (or semi annual, I cant remember which) military exercise that was conducted in different States on rotation. The year Obama's 8 year term was ending? It was going to be held in Texas. Result? Queue hysterical conspiracy theories about it being the prelude to a 'Democrat takeover' of the Republic!

It got so band senior military officers from the Pentagon had to fly in a hold town meetings where they tried to assured anxious Texans that 'yes, it was a routine military exercise (examples provided)' and 'no, we are not planning on staging a coup.' End result? The exercise goes ahead without a hitch and (surprise, surprise) Obama leaves office without so much as a whimper.

The next guy to take office on the other hand?

Even if there poll shows that it would be highly suspect these two guys are clearly in the pocket of tRaitor tRump. They are at the BOTTOM of 538's list of pollsters; even the questions asked are leading and suspect.

I want to live in a nation that is free of a strongman dictator which is what tRaitor tRump aspires to.

 

The Democrats are quickly become the party for dictatorship. They can’t win on the issues, which include spending, the open border and the political weaponization of the justice system. Instead they fill up the air ways with trumped up prosecutions and fake scandals.

Trump is only the best known of the weaponization policy. Large numbers of people who made the foolish run on the Capitol on January 6 are victims of punishments that don’t fit the crime. Roger Stone, Paul Manifort and General Michael Flynn were others.

The public had better wake up. They need to give the Democrats a good trouncing at the polls to send a message. Their use of the Justice System for political purposes is dangerous and wrong.

Propaganda aside, in the realm of reality that is sustained by empirical data, the goobers, despite their relentless hype, have been unable to concoct any actual charges against the President, even as the sexual abuser, still unable to face up to his having lost the 2020 election, is facing 91 felony charges based upon a plethora of credible evidence and the sworn testimony of dozens of witnesses, mostly Republicans.

Those contemptuous of American democracy and our system of jurisprudence concoct their fake elector schemes and vile tirades against officers of the court because thy are impotent in forming a coherent, rational defense.

They lost. They broke the law. They lie about it.

 

The "left" doesn't even care for Biden. Which is the SOLE reason why Trump is even in the running in the polls. So, to claim that the "left" wants a dictator is far from the truth. The Trump supporters, on the other hand, LOVE their self-proclaimed "dictator for one day".

 

Hyper-partisan paranoia is embarrassingly childish. The projection is amusing.

Cite your evidence that the justice system is being used for political purposes.

Uh ... NO! NO Democrat has ever said they want to be dictator, tRaitor tRump has so often that it's not even news anymore. Issues? TRaitor tRump's only issue is how bad things will be if he isn't elected; all evidence to the contrary. We have his last term to show what a terrible President he can be. While good ole Joe keeps plugging along avoiding economic crisis, passing bill that are putting America back on the map of world class manufacturers and supporting our allies gaining their respect for the Office of President of the United States back after tRatior tRump trashed it.

It's tRaitor tRump that has made a scandal of his life not Democrats. If he were truly innoncent he could have avoided all the news hype and been in and out of court by now. But he knows he's going to jail if ANY of his indictments make it to trial.

Why would an expresident be the best known traitor? Because he defrauded U.S. 91 times. And yes many of the punishments don't fit the crime of attacking OUR Capital. Some of those people should have faced much worse penalties than they got.

The only time our justice system was used politically was under Bill Barr and even he got to the point where he had to say "enough".

 

The Trump lickspittles' hyper-partisan, diabolical "left" features the likes of Merrick Garland, Jack Smith, and Christopher Ray, none of whom have ever been Democrats, and all the conservative Republicans who served in the Cry Baby Loser's regime and now harangue against him, as well as the dozens who testified under oath before the January 6 congressional committee and before the grand juries that recommended all the felony charges..

 

If you believe that the 2020 election results, certified by all fifty states, will be reversed a year from now, why have the dozens of audits, recounts, court challenges, and investigations all confirmed the validity of the election?

 

That's debatable. But, I didn't mean y'all necessarily wanted Biden to be the dictator. But, a if a suitable dictator came along? Y'all would be all for it. Or, Biden would do, until someone better came along.

 

Please list all the charges the goobers have concocted against the President and the venues where they are being adjudicated.

What is your evidence that the legal penalty Trump incurred as a consequence of his fraud is in any way determined by his candidacy?

I suspect you're making that up. Charges were filed prior to Trump announcing his candidacy.

If anything, Trump's candidacy is dictated by his need to get away with his crimes.

 

That's true. A better statement than the OP would be that the political establishment (not just Democrats perse) appear to be out to jail Trump not so much to take over, but to get rid of Trump. If it was any other Republican, they wouldn't resort to such tactics.

 

That's also true. Most of the left doesn't prefer Biden, yet Biden wins the nomination overwhelmingly. There's a serious problem with that.
