You seem to be intentionally trying to stray from the point. A 223 is a common hunting caliber but liberals try to act like since it's the bullet of the AR-15 that it has some special magical properties making it especially deadly compared to other bullets.

Well, a .223 might work on the pygmy deer you are hunting, however, I see it as a piercing round over a stopping round

 

I have used .222 (not .223) to hunt Imapala Antilope, Warthog and Thompson Gazelle and its perfect for those, although Warthogs are hard to bring down, so .308 might be better. Sako .222 is a beautiful rifle, and very accurate. Using military lookalike rifles with 30 round magazines for hunting makes non-Americans smile and shake their heads, but to each his own.
