Well here's someone reporting from Florida who was born and raised here and lived here all my life..... I can assure you that none of that breathless hyperbolic losing of Rights is actually occurring.

I was hoping that someone would remember the details because I just vaguely remember it. It was either a European nation doing so, or it was an LGBTQ+ travel agency rating Florida as a hostile for transgender state which isn't safe for travelers.

Jill is right and her comments completely flew over the heads of her detractors. Democracy erodes over time and can start with something as innocuous as schools banning books. Then the governor started banning drag shows on private property. Who knows what will be next.

He banned parents from allowing their children to attend a drag show with them because it is lewd. My dad showed me a playboy when i was in junior high and the world didn't end for me. I get it's different these days where people need government to tell them how to be good parents and vouch for bigger government, but we need to put more responsibility on parents to actually be parents and not rely on big government to solve their issues.

Depends on the parent. My dad showed me a playboy at a very young age and nothing happened, but then again he was never the one to lean on the government to tell him how to be a parent. Different times I guess.

I see more obscenity on national programming than these drag shows, but I don't see big government coming in to save children from seeing a half nude women on TV.

You don't say books are banned you say they are banned from the school library. Just because they are banned from a school library does not mean they are banned from the general public everywhere.

 

Are certain books not banned in public libraries? If a librarian permits access to a book on the prohibited list, what do you think happens?

Schools select books for the collection to be included in the library and classroom which they believe are useful to educate the children. They are not comprehensive libraries that contain most books published.

So schools don't ban books. They de-select them and remove them from their typically rather limited collection.
