Now the reality is that Stewart isn't going to be prosecuted. However this does expose a major lie that many leftists, including Stewart have repeated over and over to try to rationalize the claims of Trump committing fraud. That lie was that Trump overinflated his properties for loans but then underappreciated them for taxes.

The proper answer to that is who determines the tax basis for the properties? The owner or the government? The answer to that of course is the government determines the tax valuation for your property. They tell you what they think it is worth and what you will pay on it in property taxes. You don't get to dictate anything about that to them.

That is true of Trump, it is also true of Stewart.

So Stewart got caught in this mess not because he committed a crime, although according to leftist defenders like himself, he did commit that crime. The difference between the tax assessment of his property value and the market assessment of his property value was 800%. According to James and Stewart that is proof of fraud. According to the rest of the world, different entities come to different conclusions and they each do their own due diligence and come to an agreement and a contract. That's called business, not fraud.

However again the proof of fraud, especially for leftists is when you don't pay enough taxes and demand to pay more after the government has assessed your value and not determined it to be what you sold it for, or claim it is worth, you've committed fraud, tax evasion and a crime.

By that measure Stewart is a fraudster and a criminal. I mean this fraud is even worse than using a stage name right?

I guess we can look forward to James showing no one is above the law, including Jon Stewart.

They struggle for that "equivalence" but ignore the criminal intent.
CRIMINAL INTENT, here you go, enlighten yourself.

Per James the difference was the intent. It moved it from mistake to malevolence.

I mean do you think selling your property for 800% above the taxed value of it is an accident? If you are paying 800% less in taxes than the value of your property, isn't that proof of criminal intent? It certainly can't just be an accident.

I'm still waiting to hear how selling something for more than you paid for it is criminal.

James faces no "pressure" here. The entire argument is based on functional illiteracy.

The difference was a LOT more than intent. All this proves is how little Trump supporters care about basic objective facts.

It's not more than you paid for it. It is misrepresenting and defrauding the value by misstating and misrepresenting the value based off the tax valuation.

If you don't understand that ask Jon Stewart about it.

I'm still waiting to hear who was defrauded when the banks were free to do their own valuation, they gladly loaned money based on their own valuation and admitted they would gladly do it again. Stewart kept his tax liability as low as he could while soaking the most out of what he thought his property was worth. Do you see any similarities at all?

    Ah.
    Criminal intent!
The intent to commit a crime. And the "smoking gun" evidence of trumps "criminal intent is the disclaimer on each financial statement that in effect says "don't trust what we say, verify for yourself".
Yep. That trump, he is so guilty.
    Not!

It never stops, does it? If Trump is crooked, so is everyone who dares to criticize him, right?

    Yeah. We get that.

So if the market rate is 10,000 but someone pays 15,000 that's illegal?

Does that look remotely close to an 800% increase to you?
