Biden's Secretary of State promises 'Ukraine will become a member of NATO'

When the war between Russia and Ukraine first started, a lot of the talking heads on TV said Putin attacked to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. If what they said was/is true, then Putin has no reason to negotiate an end to the war after hearing what Blinken said.

What did you folks hear?

 

He made it clear he won’t negotiate anyway.

 

Might as well, we pretty much have bought them.. least we can do is pretend. "Like all the other NATO freeloaders", is hope they pay a lil into the slush fund

I admit, it's an out of the box idea, but it comes with a pretty steep downside.

Russia would have every reason to stop the war if a hard date was set by which Ukraine would join NATO

So long as Ukraines entry into NATO is predicated upon not being at war with Russia, Russia of course has reason to continue it forevermore.

 

Agree with Blinken 100%. Every nation in Europe except Russia should join NATO.

 

Who cares if Putin negotiate or not. Putin/ Russia don’t dictate US/ NATO foreign policy. US/NATO/EU will give membership to any country they chose, Putin/Russia can take a hike.

In US, after 70 years , some republican ( the MAGA world) all of a sudden love Putin the dictator and they want to reverse 70 years US foreign policy to kiss Puttin a$$.

As a result, Sweden and Finland rushed to apply for NATO membership.

Since Republicans love Putin it makes sense they would be opposed to anything that helps Ukraine. Like military assistance. Like Ukraine in NATO.

After all, Putin helped their Orange Stain get elected. I'm not sure why they like aiding America's worst enemies, but maybe they can "clear this up" with some sworn testimony.

 

Not true. When our country is attacked, the American people want to go to war. They are ready and willing, and they sign up for military service in droves. Examples are the Pearl Harbor and 9/11 attacks. But the American people do not want to go to war with Russia over Ukraine.

Your comment just doesn't make any sense since it doesn't reflect anything in the real world. In the real world, the moment Ukraine becomes a NATO member it will invoke article 5 which, the US will respond to since our administration is supporting Ukraine joining NATO. So...the US will be at war with Russia. That's the purpose of this policy. So please explain to me why you want to go to war with Russia?
