Mostly as a way to respond to themselves and have conversations just with themselves, or as a way to "bring somebody new" in to prop up the main account in a conversation. Nobody has multiple accounts that admits that all of them are just them.

In my opinion, some of those threads belong in the conspiracy theory section of the board, and should be moved there. They shouldn't be deleted, but they should be moved where they are most appropriate.

Conspiracy theories, properly identified, aren't simply wild or crazy ideas that nobody takes seriously. They're theories of plots organized by conspirators that remain concealed or hidden. The colloquial definition is likely why so many resist the transfer of their threads into the conspiracy theories section, because of the stigma attached.

I have a question: is a link in a signature that goes directly to porn photos allowed? I just saw this in a new member's post and reported it even though I wasn't sure. Thanks.

The sig has been removed. I wonder if he read this thread or if a Mod warned him?

I removed the sig in hopes that he was simply misguided. Then he tried to spam it.

I have a suggestion for the Forum.

I think that somewhere on the forum should be an option for a multi time-zone clock.
I'd love to not feel like a dolt and know what time it is whilst I chat with Paris, Makkie, Chesby, Jellah, BLZ, Skinny and Kaz.

It matters not as much with JW, as I highly doubt he's aware of the month, and as such the hour factors in less.

Please attend to such matter more promptly than the banner regarding the election that has started and finished.

(if such matter is to be attended to at at all. My that was presumptuous of me. Apologies, my good sir/madam. Please, someone remind me not to share with JW on the nights I take my medications early. Thank you for your assistance in these and all other matters.)

If you had Firefox (and all the cool people do these days) you could download an add on that displays clocks at the bottom of your screen for timezones you choose.

    I do know the year!

Or have we changed that again?

From your Firefox browser choose 'tools' then 'add ons'. Download 'foxclocks'. It will put a couple of clocks on your bottom bar. You can change them and add the ones you want.

Wow, with a power display like that I think the12thman may be a decendant of J. Edgar Hoover in real life.

Also, I am with tresha, something needs to be done about time zones. Also, how come some people are online 24hrs a day, I never see their green light go off.

Are other languages other from English allowed on this forum?

I'm speaking about the region section of the forum - are we allowed to converse in our native tougue if the sitution arises?

This is an English-speaking forum. The posts here must be at least somewhat comprehensible to English speakers.

I suppose it wouldn't be so bad to have one thread in each region forum with your own language - just mark it clearly so other users know why you are speaking in your own language.

I think the Mods might be concerned about any personal attacks in those threads, though, but that's easily taken care of. It's not too hard to use a translating site.

I'm still not 100% certain what trolling is.
Almost every time I think I've spotted it, I seem to be wrong.
I do understand it has to do with intent, but that seems like it would be awfully hard to qualify.

    *shrugs*

Posts that might incite and desire emotional responses rather than
    civil discussion.

    for example...

"Obama hates white people" or "Bush is a chimp"

The obvious intent isn't to open a topic for discourse, but to incite
the opposing side of an argument.

It is hard to judge sometimes.

"trolling" is a fishing concept...putting bait in the water and hoping for a "bite"...

Trolling on a message board is posting inflammatory words hoping the opposition "bites" with equally inflammatory words...
and civil discourse becomes difficult. The "troller" isn't interested in debate..they are interested in upsetting
the "trollee". I agree it is difficult to discern. Seems to me, any partisan post could qualify as "trolling".

Good points Herk. The problem for Mods is that there are 13 individuals using judgment calls on things like this. 13 people doing what they think is best thousands of times a year scrutinized by thousands of members. If those members see any deviation whatsoever most don't care but some will post for days about 'inconsistency' making it their mission to turn the forum into a Moderator vs. Member debate site rather than what it's supposed to be, a Political Discussion forum.

God Doug, ain't that the truth. Man, if this site were like other sites I'm on where you're not even allowed to indirectly criticise the mods or even really mention them in any way at all, I can think of about six members who'd leave immediately. Really, it seems to be the only reason they're here. There are parts of this board that are worse than the kind of persecution-filled, whiny, gossipy drama that used to pervade my high school yard. And here I thought I'd left high school 20 years ago
