Memri videos are real eye openers, after seeing some, I confirmed my initial conviction that Israel and west can do NOTHING to stop the Palestinian and Arab attacks against them. Arabs are filled with hate, they are being brainwashed by a antisemitic media and indoctrinated by a hateful religion. Here some Memri videos that will open your eyes:

Thank you Eugenekop for uncovering these VIDEOS.
I think this is a visual presentation for those that are still under the impression that 'ARAB and MUSLIM HATE' is a passing episode.
Muslims have been orchestrating all these libels since the 7th century when Islam was created and when the Jews did not conform/accept the new sect/religion of Islam

Yes, there are some naive people who think that a peace with Palestinians will solve all the problems in the middle east. They think that the whole Arab world hates Israel because of the "occupation". This is ridiculous. The Arabs hated Israel from the first day of Israel's creation and even before that. The riots in the twenties, the war of independence, the six days war, the Khartoum declaration, the Yom Kipur war are all obvious proves that Arab hatred and the constant wars in this region have nothing to do with the "occupation".

Arabs still live in the middle ages, they value honor, piety and justice. They still believe in every stupid blood libel, and they don't understand or support freedom, rationality, human rights, democracy, and other enlightenment values. A peace with the Arabs or other Muslims will never be real, honest, and warm, it will always be a cold peace of mutual suspicion and preparation for the next war.

Unless Arabs will pass this medieval stage in which they now live, peace won't be possible.

Israelis are European, African and American (North and South) Jews. They never lived in the area. We Middle Easterners have no problem with Jews. You just can't put 6 million people on boats and send them to our region and expect us to bend over. We didn't kill 6 million Jews, Europeans did. Why don't you give up some of your own land???
You Europeans are the biggest racists on the planet. You killed 6 million Jews and after that you sent the rest somewhere else to get rid of them. During the Holocaust Canada sent back many ships with fleeing European Jews back to Europe and the US. Apart from the US no other country accepted them. You guys are the ones who took TENS OF MILLIONS of black Africans and used them as slaves for centuries.
You want to talk about racism, take a look in the (*)(*)(*)(*)ing mirror.
    bunch of loud mouth hypocrites.

    Wow eugene, you seek to fight hatred then you tell us that all Arabs;

    .

    :)

    Now, on these Memri videos, this best explains why Memri is a poor source;

1/ Here’s a comparison. There is a North American white supremacist group that maintains an online database (I’m not going to link to it) of “Jewish criminals”.

And that’s all there is in it: names, dates and details of the conviction of any criminal the organization is aware of who happens to be Jewish.

Now, that white supremacist group could defend its actions on exactly the
same grounds as MEMRI, by pointing out that the individual entries in the database are all accurate, and that it is simply bringing the facts to the attention of the public.

But if you look at that database – page after page of “Jewish criminal…. Jewish criminal… Jewish criminal..” - you know perfectly well that there is nothing innocent about its creation. The information in that database might all technically be true, but its purpose in listing names and convictions without comment or context is simply to suggest and then hammer home the false argument that Jews are criminals, and criminals are Jews.

If you’re OK with that, then go ahead and be OK with MEMRI’s “Muslims are fanatics and fanatics are Muslims”. But if it’s offensive to slander Jewish people like that – and for me it is – I’m not sure why that modus operandi becomes acceptable when the targets are Muslim or Arab.

2/ The second criticism I would make of MEMRI, and really this arises out of the first, is that it decontextualizes the articles it translates. In the United States, most people have very little personal knowledge of the Muslim world. They do not have the tools to judge for themselves whether a person or article cited by MEMRI is an influential voice among Arabs or Muslims, or whether MEMRI is in fact presenting as typical of the Middle East the views of people who in their societies are basically irrelevant.

By way of comparison: what if I saw a news story headlined Christian Leader Proclaims “Death to Homosexuals”? If I read the whole story and discover that the Christian leader in question is the Archbishop of Canterbury, then I have reason to be alarmed. If, on the other hand, I find that the article is about Fred “God Hates ****” Phelps (again, I won't link), I’m simply going to roll my eyes, wonder rhetorically how long one person can drag out his 15 minutes of fame, and perhaps regret the fact that in reading that news story I have wasted 30 seconds of my life that I’ll never get back.

I have the contextual tools to read that article and know whether it matters. I can’t do that with MEMRI’s articles, the overwhelming majority of U.S. readers can’t do it either, and MEMRI doesn’t go out of its way to help us out.

    http://lawrenceofcyberia.blogs.com/news/2006/01/jewish_criminal.html

Do you still wish to defend Memri?

You don't have to go out of your way to explain to me that context is important. I know that. I have enough knowledge of the Muslim world to be convinced that Muslims all around the world, and especially in the middle east are daily brainwashed by an extremely hateful and deceiving media.

The fact that Al Jazeera and Al Arabia which are the CNN and the BBC of the Muslim/Arab world have reported that Israeli aid teams have been dispatched to Haiti to harvest organs and not for providing first aid, is all I need to be sure that the brainwashing that goes in the Muslims/Arab world is not different than than the brainwashing in countries like the USSR, Nazi Germany and North Korea.

There are links that can be interpreted in different ways depending on the context. But the interview with the former Lebanese minister in the T.V in which he feels free to say that he likes the German team because they burned the Jews, is not something that depends on context. You simply cannot say such things on mainstream T.V channel. The fact that it is accepted in Lebanese T.V is disgusting. Statements such as this will cause waves of hatred and violence. The Arab and Muslim leaderships don't make the tiniest of efforts to curb the extreme elements within their society, they only fuel them.

In fact how can any of my links be interpreted differently by providing context? Can the blood libel on Hamas T.V where the president of the American research center for Islamic studies explains in the main and only T.V channel in Gaza that Jews make Mazzas out of blood of Christians be viewed differently depending on context?

Can the confession of the Syrian actress that the hate for Israel was imbued in Arabs from the first day of their lives be put out of context?

What about the kid that explains on a mainstream Egyptian T.V channel that Muslims will kill all Jews, and even those Jews who will hide behind stones and trees will be betrayed by them and murdered? Can that be seen differently from another context?

What about the popular Jordanian soap opera in which Jews confess that they want the prophet's blood? Can that be put out of context? Can you point out a popular soap opera in America or in Europe which proclaims that Jews want the blood of Jesus Christ?

What about the poll in Saudi Arabia, doesn't it bother you that seemingly educated people will teach their children that Jews have killed Muhammad?

I am from Israel, feel free to quote or to link, naturally there are nut jobs and hateful minorities in my country as well, but their influence is minor. You will never see anyone or anything that closely resembles what goes on in the Muslim world on one of our mainstream T.V channels.

The Middle East Media Research Institute, or MEMRI for short, is a Middle Eastern press monitoring organization. Its headquarters is located in Washington, DC, with branch offices in Jerusalem, Berlin, London, Rome, Shanghai, Baghdad, and Tokyo. MEMRI was co-founded in 1998 by Yigal Carmon, a former colonel in Israeli military intelligence, and another Israeli Meyrav Wurmser. It provides a free source of English language translations of material published in Arabic and Persian, and publishes its analyses and in-depth reports on its website - although it also offers specialized content for a fee.

The organization's translations are regularly quoted by major international newspapers, and its work has generated strong criticism and praise. Critics have accused MEMRI of producing inaccurate, unreliable translations with undue emphasis and selectivity in translating and disseminating the most extreme views from Arabic and Persian media, which portray the Arab and Muslim world in a negative light, while ignoring moderate views that are often found in the same media outlets. Other critics charge that while MEMRI does sometimes translate pro-US or pro-democracy voices in the regional media, it systematically leaves out intelligent criticism of Western-style democracy, US and Israeli policy and secularism.

MEMRI's work has been attacked on three grounds: that their work is biased; that they choose articles to translate selectively so as to give an unrepresentative view of the media they are reporting on; and that some of their translations are inaccurate.[11] MEMRI has responded to the attacks of critics, stating that their work is not biased; that they in fact choose representative articles from the Arab media that accurately reflect the opinions expressed, and that their translations are highly accurate.[11]
    [edit] Claims of bias

Brian Whitaker, the Middle East editor for the Guardian newspaper in the United Kingdom, has been one of the most outspoken critics of MEMRI, writing: "My problem with Memri is that it poses as a research institute when it's basically a propaganda operation,"[11] to "further the political agenda of Israel."[1] Whitaker has also complained that "MEMRI's website does not mention you [Carmon] or your work for Israeli intelligence. Nor does it mention MEMRI's co-founder, Meyrav Wurmser, and her extreme brand of Zionism.... Given your political background, it's legitimate to ask whether MEMRI is a trustworthy vehicle."[11]

    [edit] Claims of selectivity

Several critics have accused MEMRI of selectivity. They state that MEMRI consistently picks for translation and dissemination the most extreme views, which portray the Arab and Muslim world in a negative light, while ignoring moderate views that are often found in the same media outlets.[1][2][2][34][35] According to Juan Cole, Professor of Modern Middle East History at the University of Michigan, MEMRI has a tendency to "cleverly cherry-pick the vast Arabic press, which serves 300 million people, for the most extreme and objectionable articles and editorials" [36] Laila Lalami, writing in The Nation, states that MEMRI "consistently picks the most violent, hateful rubbish it can find, translates it and distributes it in e-mail newsletters to media and members of Congress in Washington".[2] As a result, critics such as Ken Livingstone state, MEMRI's analyses are "distortion."[37][38][39]
    [edit] Claims of translation inaccuracy
    See also: Tomorrow's Pioneers#Translation controversy

The accuracy of MEMRI's translations are often disputed,[40] as in the case of MEMRI's translation of a 2004 Osama bin Laden video, which MEMRI defended.[11][38][41][42][43] Norman Finkelstein, in an interview with the Muslim newspaper In Focus said MEMRI "uses the same sort of propaganda techniques as the Nazis... t’s a reliable assumption that anything MEMRI translates from the Middle East is going to be unreliable."[44]

In 2007, CNN correspondent Atika Shubert and Arabic translators accused MEMRI of mistranslating portions of a Palestinian children's television programme.

"Media watchdog MEMRI translates one caller as saying - quote - 'We will annihilate the Jews,"' said Shubert. "But, according to several Arabic speakers used by CNN, the caller actually says 'The Jews are killing us."' [45]

Several commentators, such as CNN's Arabic department, have claimed that the transcript of the April 13 show (2007) provided by MEMRI contains numerous translation errors and undue emphases. Brian Whitaker, the Middle East editor for the Guardian newspaper (UK), wrote in a blog for the newspaper that in the translation of the video, showing Farfour eliciting political comments from a young girl named Sanabel, the MEMRI transcript misrepresents the segment, by attributing a sentence said by Farfour, ("I'll shoot"), to the child, and ignoring the child's statement ("I'm going to draw a picture").[46]

Whitaker further criticized MEMRI's translation. He and others commented that a statement uttered by the same child, ("We're going to [or want to] resist"), had been given an unduly aggressive interpretation by MEMRI as ("We want to fight"). Also, where MEMRI translated the girl as saying the highly controversial remark ("We will annihilate the Jews"), Whitaker and others, including Arabic speakers used by CNN, insist that based on careful listening to the low quality video clip, the girl is variously interpreted as saying, "The Jews [will] shoot[] us"[46] or "The Jews are killing us."[47] Other sources have also pointed out that MEMRI's translation "I will commit martyrdom" should more accurately have been "I'll become a martyr" – a passive statement rather than an active/aggressive threat.[48]

    And you're not brainwashed?

The fact? you linked 8 clips and none of them were Al Jazeera or Al Arabia
    here are the channels:

Al Jaded (never heard of this channel before)
Al hiwar (never heard of this channel before)
    Al Aqsa (Hammas tv) unpopular
    Iqra tv (Islamist tv) unpopular
Syrian channel (state owned tv is always unpopular)
Alrahmah (I never heard of it but I can tell from the name that its an Islamist channel)

The only popular channel might be Iqra and its only popular among some fundamentalists, in my country fundies prefer Almajd, Al Aqsa is only popular because its known to be owned by hamas.

anyway I don't like Al Jazeera, I lean toward Al Arabia and I want you to prove what you claimed.

Popular? Is it as popular as bab alharah because they need a better camera if they wanted to compete.

None of your links were Arab mainstream TV.

now its my time to be biased, isn't haaretz a mainstream media?

I don't have hard evidence that Al-Jazeera or Al-Arabia supported the claim about Israeli organ harvesting in Haiti. However I do have a hard evidence that Iranian public television and Iranian leaders themselves accept it as fact, as well the Syrian government television.

    From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitic_canard#Accusations_of_organ_harvesting

The fact these are government channels makes it even more disturbing. The government channels in Israel are the most politically correct channels. If things like the organ harvesting story are being told by the government to the people, it is the best proof of brainwashing that there is.

Hamas T.V is the only T.V channel in Gaza as far as I know, and if the Palestinians in Gaza have to listen to this load of hateful crap, then they are doomed and so are we. Regarding the other channels, I don't know how popular they are, probably most of them, as you said, are not. It is still extremely disturbing. In Israel there is not a single channel that will translate things that even by a little resemble the links I brought.

Regarding your quote from the Haaretz, what exactly are you trying to prove? That some lunatic wrote a stupid book? I said already, we do have lunatics in Israel, but their influence is very minor. You wouldn't find a single journalist on our T.V that supports that writings of that Rabi, you probably won't find such journalist in Israel at all, even in the most remote and intolerant places.

So what are the popular T.V channels in the Arab/Muslim world? Can you give me names?

Press tv is known to spread lies, its like the Iranian version of North Korean national tv(assuming tv is allowed in NK), as for Iranian leaders, Ahmadi Najjad thinks the magical Mahdi will appear soon to lead Iran against the world, that's enough to label him as mentally unstable.

Syrian government tv, who watch that anyway? I'm pretty sure Syrians prefer MBC and Aljazzera.

Government channels in the Arab world are waste of money.

I never lived in Gaza, but if I did, I wouldn't need any hamas tv to tell me whats going on, I'm smart enough to see how I'm treated by both hamas and Israel, if I was there in 2009, in the 30 days war and lost a family or a house, I would hate Jews too.

How many tv channels do you have? We have so many, we even have a tv channel made by the U.S government called "Al hurrah" which has a purpose of spreading American propaganda, the U.S government spent so much money on it at first but it failed miserably, Hamas owns a tv channel, so does Hizbuallah, heck, even Alqaeda tried to make their own.

the most popular is MBC group which has something like 8 to 10 channels, some channels are only popular in Ramadan where they show the best Arabic tv series, I don't think I have to mention Al Jazeera, they also have one of the best sport channels, many people prefer to watch American tv over Arabic, some watch both. We have ART(Arab Radio and Television Network), Showtime Arabia, and Orbit Communications Company.

Ironically most of the best Arabic TV channels that happen to have a liberal point of view is owned by Saudi, the most fundamentalist Arabic country.

Saudis own: MBC group, Orbit, ART, ShowTime Arabia, Rotana. And these channels and networks are the best and they are liberal.

Okay, and what is your take on the political debate on these T.V channels? Are the debates anti western? Do these channels promote blind hate or do they offer instead proper argumentative debate? What about values such as freedom, equality, brotherhood, human rights, democracy, tolerance? Are they manifested? What about drama, fiction and movies, do they have elements of racism, or of hate based on lies? When you compare Arab T.V channels to American T.V channels, what is the difference?

I don't watch Al Jazeera because its very biased, but Al Arabiya tries to be as much neutral as it can, as for debates, they always allow all sides to give their opinion, Al Jazeera even allowed an Israeli commander to express his opinion during the Gaza war of 2008, Al Arabiya is never like channels like Alaqsa or Iqra, those channels are Islamist.

press in the Arab world have limited freedom, for example they can talk against government corruption but they can't personally attack leaders like the Saudi king or the Egyptian president. The mainstream supports tolerance and human right.

I don't like drama, but gulf drama for example focuses only on the gulf and sometimes Arab world or Europe if someone travelled there, these drama series have 0 political agenda.

I don't think we have much of fiction movies like Americans do. The only movies and series that mentions Israel or Jews is probably Egyptian and maybe Syrian, Egyptians are known to make good comedy and boring action, Adel Emam the best Arab comedian has many movies where Israel or Jews are mentioned, he always criticizes the taboo of having anything to do with Israel or Israelis in the Arab world, but he's really funny, hes the only reason why sometimes I watch Egyptian movies.

Arabs always steal ideas from American TV, the whole world steal American ideas, such as "who will win the million dollars" or "American idol", but American TV is very biased when it comes to the other world, they make it (us Americans vs they the world) or (us westerns vs the rest of the world) they always make fun of others especially Arabs in a non-true stereotypical way, I find it amusing, the only problem is, some people think what they see is true, Arab TV is biased too, some are biased toward change some are not, but the mainstream won't say things like Jews will drink your blood.

If what you say is true then is it possible that:

    Source: http://www.jpost.com/MiddleEast/Article.aspx?id=168176

Okay then tell me the following please. What is your position on issues such as terrorism, right of return, 67 lines, six days wars, yom kipur war, 48 war, the Arab riots in the twenties, operation cast lead, the second Lebanese war.

Now please tell me whether you will be usually considered more moderate than the average Arab or less moderate. If more moderate, that how much more.

I'll appreciate if you answers these questions.

P.S: In what way do you think Al Jazeera is biased?

    Yeah that's probably true.
I don't support any kind of violence against civilians whether its legal or illegal.

I believe the past is the past, we should forget and forgive. I believe the right of return should be abolished and that the Jews who already live in the Middle East should stay here if they wish. I support a one secular state that does not recognize a single religion, doesn't label people as Jews or non Jews, and does not recognize religious authorities.

I used to be very ultra fundamentalist person, its how I was raised to be, but now I consider myself something between moderate and liberal. I don't belong to any political party or religion, so I make my own ideas. I don't think I can be labelled as any kind of Arab.

Al Jazeera pretends to care about "Arab" and "Muslim" causes, its real agenda is to make all Arab countries look bad and Qatar look like a hero.

for example, when the entire tribe of murah/marri were expelled from Qatar, they never mentioned it, they never mention anything the prince of Qatar do with Israel, because it will make him look bad, but once another Arab does diplomatic relations with Israel, they suddenly make him look like a traitor.

That's interesting. What made you change your mind? Do you have an article about that perhaps so I wouldn't have to bug you?

You say that Al Jazeera paints every Arab country that has diplomatic relations with Israel as traitor, I don't see how you can claim that the Arab media is moderate after that.

If you agree with me and with the poll that almost 100% of the Arabs hate Jews, then how can you say that most Arabs are for human rights and freedom?

Change my mind about what? I believe religion was a good tool in the past that helped build civilization, but now we went so far and deep that we understand almost everything around us to the point we don't need religion anymore, I don't know how we came into life on earth but I believe religion nowadays is useless and harmful.

Thats why I don't watch Al Jazeera, its like Arabic version of foxnews, Alarabiya is much better, every nation has their own gullible, and Al Jazeera is for the Arab ones.

The hatred between Arabs and Jews is recent, it started in the 20th century, its caused by the Arab/Israeli conflict, now let's not be biased and pretend that its one-sided hate. I don't hate Jews, I generally dislike the orthodox ones, not all of them but maybe most of them, especially the nationalist-Zionist kind of them, I prefer secular Jews, and I have many Jewish friends.

I was talking about the point in your life in which you understood that your upbringing was wrong.

Okay, still I believe the vast majority of Arabs will think you are a non patriot, even a traitor. They will probably detest your neutrality. They will probably say that America and Israel are to blame for the relative backwardness of the Arab society. Am I right about that?

I don't know what changed me, I change my mind a lot. I just started questioning my religion and ended up disbelieving in God.

The only Arabs that told me that are some Islamists, I went to a fundamentalist Sunni website and told them my story, few of them called me American agent and traitor.

Some Arabs blame how they started to abandon Islamic teachings, and how they started living a sinful secular life, some are frustrated how the Arabs of the past were 1000 times better than today, some will blame America and Europe and themselves at the same time, they will say that they were fooled by the westerners after ww1 and ww2.

there's some truth in all of these, after all, nations raise by the fall of others.

Intelligent and educated people immediately doubt any 'translations' of videos by Memri for obvious reasons.

There translations are correct, they are just very biased, they translate only the most extreme views, notice how most of their videos come from Hamas or Hisbullah TV channels.

    ِAn interesting discussion.

Nonbeliever is not alone in his thoughts. Many of us Arabs have liberal thoughts, and believe that the acts of a minority of jews should not label all jews as criminals.

eugenekop you must understand that while Islam has its flaws, and Muslims are not the most educated people on earth, it dies not mean that anyone has the right to steel their land and claim it is his historical right.

Generally I agree with nonbeliever that religion is to blame for the way muslims think, but it also affected jews just the same. eugenekop claims that radical jews are a minority, but when we see a right winged party controlling Israel, and its prime minister calls for the world to recognize Israel as a jewish state, I think that's enough reason for Muslims to hate all jews.

Also, while radical jews might be a minority, they are the ones who live in Israeli settlements built on accupied land, and we don't see the Israeli goverment trying to stop them.

So, you tell me how we should think about jews.

Oh and thank you nonbeliever for supporting my one state solution which is obviously apposed by all jews. Whether they are radical or not, they all insist on have a JEWISH state then they start talking about how bad Muslims are.

I promise you we'll talk about Jews. However I'd like to talk about Arabs first.

Liberal Saudi and Nonbeliever, you seem like two very moderate and liberal Arabs. But I don't really know what liberal or moderate means in the Arab world. So I have a few questions.

    1. Is Europe your model for great society? If not, what's your model?
    2. Do you think the interests of the Muslim/Arab world are usually aligned with the interests of the west?
    3. Do you think America is one of the main reasons the Arab world is as relatively backward as it is?
    4. On the scale of anti-Americanism relative to the Arab world where would you put yourself?

Could you answer these questions please?
