I doubt that this is a sincere question. It is more likely another trolling attempt to antagonize and make fun of the obvious responses that you would reap from such a provocative question. However, I'll play your game.

First off, visit America. Actually get to know the people. Stop making judgments based on media reports showing American's darker side....a personality flaw that is in exists in all people of all nations.

Second...stop assuming that the actions and conduct of our Government is a illustration of the people. Our Government may represent us...elected into office by us, but that does not mean that we approve of HOW they represent us once they take office. Seeing as how our congress has only a 23% approval rating and only 11% feel confident in our Congress, you should have already figured that out.

When I first started ready your posts, I thought that you must have a personal axe to grind against the US. Now I am thinking that your anti-American posting is just a game to you....maybe even a ego trip to shown that someone from a small country is soooo much smarter then people from the US.

I will agree, though, you seem to not be a stupid person. You appear to be fairly well educated and astute. I'm sure you are completely aware that these blanket accusation and assumptions you make about the US are in no way indicative of the people themselves. I'm sure you are also aware that a majority of Americans are just your hard working average person that is just trying to make a life for themselves and their family.

The US is far from perfect. We have flaws just like every country in the world has flaws. Yes, our Government has done things that we, as a people, are not proud of. However, there are many things that we have done that are worthy of pride.

Instead of trying to tear us down in order to build yourself up, why don't you use all of this energy you are wasting, and your talents, to make a positive difference instead of highlighting the negatives aspects of a complicated country.

A big way the average citizen can be pro america is not to buy stuff at Walmart They all claim to be american based but all of the factories that make the Great Value products from walmart are based in other countries...and all of walmarts food sold in their groceries stores are imported from Mexico...along with the Sam's Choice soda which says on the can that they are for buying American made products........Walmart claims to stand for America made products and helping the economy...but they are one of the biggest reasons that Americans lose jobs and the economy is bad.....

You fail to divine my purpose.

I don't doubt many Americans are a reasonable bunch of people if you have intercourse with them that does not involve religion, politics and issues of race. One doesn't have to go to the US to know that.

If it is not already glaringly obvious, my issue with Americans is that they are so stupid as to willingly co-operate in a political system that is fundamentally and patently corrupt, and then try to defend the abysmal domestic and international decisions that politicians (who are effectively not elected by them) wind up making.

I would have less objection if the US declared itself to be the totalitarian state it is not far from being.

If are highlighted the negative aspects, why don't try to change that ones? Instead of trying to don't believe that, or negate that, or ignore that, whatever. How many times I've seen highlated facts about USA and most of the people ignore them, or try to find excuses, there aren't any. The reasonable should try to fight to change that.

    Corruption In New Zealand?
    Really?

Otago District Health Board former chief information officer Michael Swann has admitted accepting a $755,000 bribe from long-time friend and business associate Robin Sew Hoy in exchange for more of the board's information technology work

New Zealand Corrections department raided The union representing about 2800 prison staff says its office was searched and documents were seized by Corrections Department staff during a raid last week.

Philip James Whitley, 49, of Richmond, was charged with two counts of making a false statement as a promoter in 2007. The charges were laid by the Serious Fraud Office, which said that in the nine months from August 2006 to May 2007 490 investors sank $5.3m into Whitley's company NearZero.

An Immigration New Zealand visa officer in New Delhi has been sacked after an internal investigation into corruption claims. Mr Deobhakta, who had been trying to get a group of 47 Indians to New Zealand last year, alleged that an immigration officer in New Delhi had demanded a $282,000 bribe to process their visas.

An Auckland woman said she could get work permits for the group if he paid the officer $6000 for each - despite none of them meeting criteria for work permits - because she had a relative who was a staff member in Immigration's New Delhi office, he said.

Have to be careful throwing those rocks in glass houses. Thats American saying akin to call you a hypocrite

The following is my opinion only.

Here is how to do it, based on my 42 years as an American.

First, get yourself and American flag. Make sure you fly it in ways that are against our protocol. Put it on the back of your truck in the rain. Leave it out hanging form your porch overnight. It does not matter if you use it properly. All that matters is that you have a piece of cloth that proves you love America. Yes, that $5 piece of (*)(*)(*)(*) made in China proves you love America. No actions are necessary. Nothing more than your flag.

Now just in case you have a smart ass like myself to point out the errors in your ways, here are other things you can do to be pro American.

Refuse to see the world in anything other than black and white. Never admit there are shades of gray anywhere or with any topic. You are either Republican or Democrat. You are either liberal or conservative. Never admit that another political philosophy might make some good points and never admit that your own political party may be wrong on a topic or two. Everything is black and white.

Use your religion as a political tool. Always claim to be a loving and peaceful Christian willing to support a government that kills, just like Christ taught us. Forget about forgiveness and redemption and be pro death penalty. Support the wanton killing of civilians in the war on terror. Christ taught us to forgive, but more importantly we learned about acts of contrition. So remember, you can act like a giant and violent ass all of your life but if you say your sorry then you still get to go to heaven. Also, make sure you use your religion as a litmus test and claim that your made up invisible man in the sky is better than the made up invisible man of someone else. No real reason needs to be given other than cherry picked examples of bad folks in other religions.

Here is an example. Insist Islam is bad because of 9/11, but never allow someone to point out that Wahhabism was the cause, not the religion in general. Therefore Christianity is good. See how that works? It all goes back to the black and white point. All Muslims are bad because of the actions of a few and because all Muslims are bad all Christians must be good.

Redefine the Constitution at will. Forget about 200 years of legal precedents and scholarship. Forget about actual meaning of the document. Warp it to mean anything you like then insist that is what the founding fathers intended. A prime example would mean the 2nd Amendment means any nut job should be able to buy an Uzi over the counter, or the 10th Amendment means that health care is unconstitutional. See how that works? Just make it up and say it with a lot of authority. Eventually folks will back down.

Lastly, find an idiot to champion. This idiot should be a complete fool who is in way over their intellectual head. This person may have literally stumbled onto fame and/or office. The reason we pick idiots is to make sure we feel better about ourselves, as if there is a fool who has achieved, other fools think they have it in themselves, when they really don't. Prime examples would be Sarah Palin, Christine O'Donnell, or even Joel Osteen.

Follow my guide and you will be a real American in no time.

You act as if this is something new in American or democratic politics. It's been going on as old as the Republic.

The best reflection is to look at the rest of the world and see whether in general they have followed the American system of republican Govt.

Wasn't it Churchill who said that democracy was the worst system of government, except for everything else? Or something to that effect.

I think all you have to do is wave an American flag and chant USA USA USA at an international sporting event. It seems to help tons of people achieve Americanirvana.

Do you sleep with your gun every night? Yes, I mean right there beside you IN the bed. Do you bow down each and every morning to a shrine to the holy corporation? No????
Look, if you aren't even going to try...don't bother asking the question.

The belief that America is rotten to the core takes willful ignorance.
You need to start with that.
I have a choice to make.
Help out a youngster that really doesn't want help

Looking in from the outside, I despair that the Yanks are straying from their huge promise as they wallow in destructive internal politics. They will fix this or fall into second rate status by the end of this century. I'll add that this is not a good thing for any of Earth's republics.

    Here's what you can learn. . .

No other power provides military defense in Earth's sea lanes or airways that protects the access to resources for all its friends.

No other power provides a level of university education which is the envy of all and the place where Earth's intellects go when they want the best.

No other power confronts Earth's bad guys at anything like the level that the US does.

Give me another hour and I'll give you three dozen more.

Being pro-American is not something you can be taught.

You either love and support freedom and liberty for the individual citizen as the American Constitution expresses such ideology.

    Or you don't.

    Simple as that.

The average US citizen's discussions usually do not involve religion, politics, or race. If fact, they are usually taboo subjects....especially when talking to a stranger (forums excluded). Of course, these subjects are discussed among friends and family members, but usually not just to fill in discussion space. We usually discuss the weather for that.

Not everybody defends "the abysmal domestic and international decisions that politicians (who are effectively not elected by them) wind up making." You will find people on all sides on any issue. Heck, if a majority of the people could agree on just one thing, we could accomplish a lot.

As far as "willingly co-operate"....we have 2 choices. Vote or don't vote. I guess if we vote we are "willingly co-opertat[ing]". If we don't vote, we would probably be "ignoring the situation".

The only politicians we don't directly elect is the President....and the Supreme Court members (if you want to call them politicians). All other politicians are elected by the people. Of course, the politicians have done so much Gerrymandering that they have tried to stack the deck, but it doesn't always work like they plan.

So, instead of throwing stones, what actions would you suggest we take so that we don't "willingly co-operate in a political system that is fundamentally and patently corrupt"? Let's see how much you know about how our system really works.

To: Think for myself....is that how you really see most Americans? If it is, then I really feel sorry for you. Sure, there is a fringe group that act exactly how you describe, but on the other side of the fence is the other fringe that....well.....say some of the things that you say. Luckily, you have been an American for 42 years, so you are able to have your own opinion....even though it may differ from other people's opinions.

That's probably a large part of your problem. There is little desire to confront the situation you are in and why it is such a mess. It's also a function of a country that has, until now (forgetting the Great Depression) been seduced by more wealth than is good for it.

You have a system that agrees on one thing and one thing only. Big Money runs your political system.

That's no solution. You first have to figure out that what you are voting for is essentially the same thing whichever way you jump. Then you have to decide whether you want to continue to be run by corporate America. Performance over the last 200 years suggests you enjoy being comatosed.

You elect whatever politicians corporate America wants you to elect. Your elections are bought and paid for. And the average American is just dancing on the puppet-master's strings.

I have said this a dozen times before without "throwing stones":

    1. Severely limit or preferably eliminate corporate (and union) campaign and lobbying contributions.
    2. Allow 3rd parties and give them public campaign funding on the same basis as the major parties.
    3. Introduce proportional representation that allows significant 3rd parties representation in Congress.
    4. Set standards for campaign advertising that eliminates the negativity that infests it now and have them regulated by an independent body.
    5. Set up an independent electoral boundaries commission to eliminate gerrymandering.
    6. Prosecute people like Boehner - who blatantly handed out tobacco lobby cheques on the floor of the House to congressional voters during a vote on tobacco regulation.

Oh yeah, wrestling wild mammals(the bigger they are, the more patriotic you become). The most patriotic among us have wrestled a few grizzly bears and tigers in our past. Bungee jumping without the bungee cord, that's one of the patriots favorite activity.
