Osama is how you spell it, not Usama. And we never got Osama. We killed him. If Ron Paul had been president we would have got him, not killed him. And Ron Paul never said he wanted to legalize any drug. He said he wanted to leave it to the states to decide.

 

I'll be less passionate: I am very doubtful that we would have gotten Usama (that's how you spell it according to the FBI) when we did because it seems to me that Paul wants to take apart our entire intelligence/military aparatus and won't be dissuaded. ...what I do care about is putting the Federal Reserve out of business; abolishing the Dept's of Education, Agriculture, Energy, et al... abolish the DEA and end the insane "war on drugs"; abolish HHS, HUD, FEMA, et al... bring the troops home and restore some sanity to our foreign policy; stop all foreign aide; stop all corporate welfare; make a long term plan to phase out SS and Medicare...

Get US out of the UN, and kick the UN out of the U.S.; withdraw from NATO; build our miltary to invincibility; exploit our natural resources and make energy as cheap and affordable as possible by simply getting government out of the way; abolish the Patriot Act, and restore the 4th Amendment; pass an Amendment rescinding the 17th amendment...

I agree with the entire first paragraph 100% (except I see nothing wrong with humanitarian foreign aid - but NEVER military or monetary).

The second one I only agree with withdrawing from NATO, abolish the Patriot Act and restore the 4'th Amendment. I don't know what rescinding the 17'th will do. And, as flawed as the UN is - I think it is better then nothing.

 

Appointment of representatives to the Senate by the States was, and should be, a very important element against democracy. It provides another check on the expansion of FedGov power by giving the States a direct voice in federal legislation.

As it is now, the only thing the States can do is take it to Federal Court... and of course, those courts always rule in favor of federal supremacy. Arizona can't even get the Feds to enforce the border, despite the fact that Americans are being killed; and when Arizona passed a law saying they themselves would begin to enforce the law, the Feds sued to stop them. What kind of nonsense is that??? The States are almost powerless against the centralized power of the FedGov.

The forces of collectivism have been working for decades to dismantle our Republic. Key to those efforts is to move us ever closer to a direct democracy, which of course is very unstable. Direct election of Senators by the people, as opposed to appointment by the States directly addresses that item on their wish list.

The 17th amendment diminished the power of the States to act as a check upon the FedGov. The FedGov, unencumbered by objections the States might have, especially to unfunded mandates; and futher empowered by inane interpretations of the Constitution; and fueled by the ever increasing ignorance of the people themselves - who were being taught the "virtues" of democracy, and that the Constitution was "a living document" in the government school systems - has played an integral role in the centralization of, and expansion of FedGov power. Make no mistake, repealing the 17th amendment is very important in restoring our Republic, and stuffing the FedGov genie back in the bottle.

As for the UN, it is obviously a corrupt den of thieves, but it is much more than that. It was founded upon a totalitarian foundation, i.e. if it were to function as "envisioned by its founders" - most of whom were communists BTW, including America's representatives (Alger Hiss & Co.) - it would be able to rule the people of the world with literally no check upon its power.

Literally, the U.N. is the framework for a worldwide totalitarian system of control over all of the worlds capital, the means of production, money, et al. In short, it is the framework for a system of control of the people all the way down to municiple ordinance, land use, and of course "reproductive rights".

The IMF, NATO, NAFTA, GATT, Maastricht, the World Bank, ICC... these are very dangerous people, scheming for power and control over the masses of the world. They are anti-freedom, anti-people, anti-humanity.

How many lives have been lost, used as chattel, in the fighting of wars for the purpose of breaking down existing nationalistic structures that act as an impediment to the creation of the dreamed of world government??? WWI, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam... and yes, even the Gulf Wars were all fought for the purpose of building global governance.

Ron Paul would move us in the right direction of disentangling us from all of those disasterous situations and institutions; while a vote for either Obama or Romney/Gingrich/whoever the Establishment christens as the 2nd candidate of their Big Government Party, will only continue the con game, and keep spinning our demise.

 

The U.N. only has as much power as it is given.

It was, imo, primarily designed to stop major wars. And it has worked very well. There have been none since it's inception (though nukes helped a ton in that regard as well).

I am not going to argue with you because there is no changing my mind at this time (nor yours I assume), the world is generally better for having the U.N. in my opinion, despite the fact that I agree 100% that is an incredibly flawed agency. But, imo, no more so then the governments of every single major country in the world.

 

He is not stupid to the standards of republicans and *********s. However, he does do a good job of ranting, and speaking well to simple people. But he may just be too intelligent. As long as he sticks to the rants and complaints, he should do a great job getting elected.

 

No one has my vote, yet. Some will never get my vote, such as President Carter, Jr., but I'm still considering who I'd like to vote for.

But, I'm seventy and I've never been able to vote for who I wanted in the general election.
