What does hospital care have to do with charity? I believe they send out a bill after the stay.

President Obama said that one of the largest contributors to the debt crisis
    is health care costs...

Church run hospitals are more efficient and do a better job at administering healthcare
    than non-profits...(Government) run healthcare...

The atheist is so eager to dump all religion...under the false assumption that
    religion serves no useful purpose...

simply calling religion a fairytale...does not make it so...and ignoring religion's positive
influences on civilzation and only dwelling on the negative...is purely an emotional argument...

I provided evidence of a positive influence that religion has...Church run hospitals give
better patient care and are more efficient...

I noticed that most of the usually vocal atheists on here..fell silent on the revelation
    of that truth.

I think I have some discernment along those lines. You've always been fair with me, and you'll notice I haven't ignored YOU.

I don't recall saying any of the things you stated on this thread. I never said that clarity was a bad thing.
I became less open to you when out of no where you supposedly a Christian take a kick at gays in a very judgmental nasty way if I might add. You yourself have proved my point that those that profess to follow Christ are very unlike him.
That comment on gays nullifies anything that you may have said to make my opinion different. I don't really care what a person believes as long as they believe and follow it. It is obvious that from that one comment you know little of your non judgmental Jesus and what he spoke about. You become as he said a noisy gong.
It was not me that said anything nasty about Christians true Christians. Those that colour themselves in Christian colours and debase others like you have in your judgment are not Christian but charlatans who attempt to pass themselves off as something else.
From the content of your posts in this thread that is what you are representing the charlatan side of a faith that others hold dear and you taint it. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Charities ought to make a case for how high taxation hurts charities by limiting disposable income. Even if 90% of taxpayers would not give more to charity even if taxes were lowered, that last 10% would.

that was really un=necessary. Seeing as Michael hasn't weighed in since his initial posting.

In other boards that i visit, the religion forum is FOR christians only. And in some cases it is by invitation only or the christian poster asks for permission to post in that forum.

I know this is a lot of trouble and frankly i don't know if i'd go to this much trouble on my own board. This forum has so many members though that maybe it would be worth it to consider a Bash Christian forum and a Christians only forum. That way the antis could have their hate fest and the Christians might actually be able to share information that they're interested in.

He's weighed in continuously since his initial posting. In fact I'd have to say this is the worst attempt at 'ignoring' in history.

Jiyuu-freedom also mentioned my absence. It should be noted that this thread took off like a rocket ship and went 18 pages overnight. A lot of us work and have other things in our lives that take us away from the computer. I'm a truck driver and it's not always easy to get to my laptop. So it should never be assumed that someone is simply neglecting their thread. We all have lives outside of this forum.

Or a forum for atheists and agnostics so they can commiserate among themselves how persecuted they are. Perhaps the biggest problem I have with the really aggressive and antagonistic atheists is how they take the Lord's name in vain. Every time something untrue and hateful is said about the Lord, his name is taken in vain and these guys are prolific at it. It's more than I can take which is part of why I decided on this course of action.

Of course another good antidote to the abuse of the Lord's name is for us, his followers, to uplift his holy name. To remind ourselves that one day every knee shall bow, whether in heaven, or on earth, or under the earth, and every tongue shall confess THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.

I was thinking today that, although my decision to ignore these people is prudent, I should also counter the hateful things said about God by praising His wonderful and matchless name. In the Catholic Church, we call it "reparations". For instance, some of us, when we hear the Lord's name taken in vain will say quietly, not obnoxiously, something like "Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless glory!" In our own way, we can correct the slanders against God with our praises. Reparations are a good idea mainly because we ought be seeking every opportunity to praise the Lord and I will haste to admit, I fall way short of that goal.

And, as usual, when someone critcizes atheism, the atheist just attacks the poster. The Atheist can never be wrong, can never be mistaken, all critcism can be safey dismissed as the result of others hatred and animosity, a sure sign of their corrupt beliefs - whose very value is lost solely by being critical of atheists in the act of taking a crap on someone based solely on their beliefs.

Notice there is not even a defense of the behavior listed, just the attack at the poster mind you. Wonderful faith you atheists have.

So, let me get this straight. Just because a few atheists on this forum like to troll, you are going to ignore ALL of them?! This is extremely unfair. Not all atheists are the same. Also, on internet forums, I have found that its often the trolls whom are the loudest. In fact, most people on the forum are what you would call lurkers. The worst possible thing theists and atheists do is ignore each other. This solves nothing. Also, you are doing nothing but pushing Atheists on this forum farther away from God. Is that what you really want?

Well MC, what does the Bible say about behavior that has teh OP's goat?

"Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended." Proverbs 22:10

The problem here is not that theists and atheists are ignoring one another, it is that there is a behavior problem afoot. We, as posters, cannot control who is allowed to come or go within this community. However, when members of this community, who happen to be of a particular belief structure, are turning a blind eye to the most destructive behavior ....

I don;t care who or what your relilgion is, but if you allow the obtuse and frantic to define your beliefs for you .... you reap what you sew. The complaints of modern atheism listed in the OP are common these days.

    http://blog.lib.umn.edu/edgell/home/Strib Atheist Faith and Values.html

Common enough that atheism, as a practical community, is paying the price for ignoring it.

Are their good ones out there? You bet.

    Where are thier voices?

The OP is a symptom of the problem, it is not the problem.

More than 95% of abortions happen within the first 15 weeks; for comparison, organogenesis is only completed by week 12 and most brain development doesn't complete for another 3 or 4 weeks. Most abortions are done when the fetus has all the sensation and ability to think as a jellyfish.

Also, primitive abortions have been known for thousands of years, yet Yeshua nor Moses opted to mention a single law banning them. No one thought the issue important enough to ban it (in spite of banning such important things as wearing clothes made from two different fibers or which insects cannot be eaten), so I'm guessing YHWH doesn't actually care about it. Especially as YHWH destroys over 2/3rds of human zygotes/embryoes/fetuses naturally anyway, often before the woman even knows she's pregnant anyway.

That's not a religious matter; the fact that some religious folks have a moral objection to a common type of sex does not make it a religious issue.

Agh yeah, sexual morality is something pretty much every religion on earth addresses.

Whether you like it or not, homosexuality is specifically addressed in several different religions. The criticisms of the homosexual life are born out in the homosexual community today.

A man who defines himself by his sexuality is defining himself based on sex. You are, whatever your name is, not the guy that just got railed by another guy. There are large chunks of the homosexual community that are anything but monogamous and chaste, seeking to find that love based relationship with someone else.

    Sure, they are out there.

The problem is that sexuality, be it hetero or homosexual, has conseuqnces, and empty and numerous sexual partners has very bad consequnces over time. The issue with homosexuality for many religions is that accepting homosexuality is not just a foreign concept when a family and children are considered the ideal, it is that in accepting homosexuality -- there appears to also be a demand that they accept a lifestyle defined by sexuality.

So when I see people talking about keeping religion out of 'sexuality', what they hell do you think happened when homosexuals became politically active and demanded things like gay marriage, etc? You think just maybe they brought their homosexuality into other people's religion?

There is a necesary debate about the subject of debate, and certainly there are adjustment to releive actual oppression and viooence toward homosexuals. But part of that process of, no pun intended, coming out of the closet, means you get your lifestyle choices exposed to the same light as everyone else's.

I tell you what, I am not the least bit impressed when homosexuals brag about having unprotected sex in a club bathroom with a man they just met five minutes ago. I am equally unimpressed when heterosexual engage in the same bahavior. That kind of behavior, regardless of your orientation has consequences.

The idea that religion, concerned with morality, should ignor sexuality? I think that is just a cop out to avoid serious consideration of the choices our society has normalized - and which, whatever we claim, will have consequences. Our choices always do.
