If you call on top a 14 TRILLION dollar deficit, current president one of the biggest sell out puppets ever, a manufacturing industry that almost dead, everything outsourced to china, India and Mexico, some of the worst education ratings on the globe, constitution being raped on a daily basis, involved in five (soon to be six) wars we can't afford and that aren't justified, est 25 million illegal aliens sucking the taxpayers dry, and an est 12% unemployed being on top then you must have some severly low standards.

On top? Hahahaha. On top of a pile of rubble.

China is owning your azz and they will continue to do so.

The only people wanting to come here are the poverty stricken who flee like cowards from their nation, sneak into ours and the reap the benefits provided by taxpaying US citizens.

This nation is a pile of poop now thanks to the leaders that the idiot armed forces fight for. Essentially, armed forces have for the last 99 years (1913, anyone?) fought for a regime who's plan was to rob the citizens by using fear tactics to justify unnecessary wars.

Congratulations, armed forces, and government employed strokes, you have facilitated the destruction of your nation, and you were too stupid to realize it.

That is what they said about the Yamato and Bismarck. Any ship of any nation is a threat to our Navy. It dosn't matter if it is China or any other sea going Navy. China can load up a nuke and sail that ship right in to Pearl, or even San Diego and really hurt the Pacicific fleet

It takes months to produce a single modern aircraft, we have no tank production any more and ships take years to build, 5 for a carrier. We have enough smart weapons to last less than a month of fighting and then its all over.

Yeah, nobody likes a loser. There are opportunities for well educated Americans overseas. Americans may become the new Filipinos.

How much you spend is more a reflection on how much stuff costs in a free market than a reflection on what one buys.

My stereo is made in China...and it is one of the best built items I have ever owned.

And it cost 1/3 what it would have cost if made here.

    Nice amp....

I love lamp based amps. But I couldn't afford them when I was in the market for one so I went with a mosfet based one (Cambridge Audio).

Cambridge makes a good product. If the green is tight, I can recommend Jolida's line as well...about half the PrimaLuna price and, sadly, not as nicely finished BUT, they sound glorious. I had an old 202 that lasted 12 years (EL-34 based). Their newer gear is even better.

one of my co-worker bought some expensive set of HT speaker that was made in china. he said compare to other european high end HT speakers, the chinese made speakers has better sound and quality.

china do make high end quality stuff, you just have to pay the price for it. we only bought cheap chinese good because thats what wal-mart shoppers want(low cost goods). if you go to china, you can find some very high quality stuff that is made in china, but cost alot more compare to stuff you bought in wal-mart.

I have never seen any example of a Chinese product that was better than it's Euro or American counterpart in the same price range. Do you have any specific examples?

try swans speakers(basically rebrand of http://www.hivi.com/ speakers), a co-worker bought some and he like alot. he said its comparable to the european brand he bought with higher price.

china can't make high tech quality product, but it certainly has quality mid-high-tech to low tech products. the reason many american didn't seen any high quality product is because all the stuff we import are low cost products, which we buy in wal-mart, target etc. however if you look into it, there are high price quality product made in china using finest goods. for example some the high end violin made in china are using the highest quality of wood from tibet or S.america and manually build by professional. these violins are comparable to some Italian made violin that has the higher price tag.

another example is counterfit of luxury bags. there are very cheap one(which very easy to see its a fake) and there are one cost more($900) but has the same quality as louis vuitton bag($2000), and even experience people and experts can't tell the difference.

so basically you got what you pay for. all the mass produce products from china for export are low cost because thats what the western corp. and westerner want it, so manufacture cut corners. however, if you are willing to pay a bit higher price you can get some quality product that is still cheaper than european products in the same bracket.

i know people spend alot $$ in china and bought some very high quality silk, cloth, and suits.

Um...I thought I already said that.

When given a choice, no one buys Chinese products. They buy Chinese products when money is a concern.

I am guessing that when someone is in the market for a high quality violin, they are not looking at Chinese manufactures...

    ...unless they need it cheap.

That is the advantage China has in all your scenarios...they are cheaper. It is not because they are better.

its cheaper and quality is the same. so people who understand the product will purchase the cheaper one with the same quality. i heard stories before, customer came in to violin shop looking to purchase some good violin from italy/other european country, but walk out with a chinese made violin because the quality and sound is the same. like i said once before people will compare same products made from china and western, they will choose the one has the higher quality, but if the quality is about same and chinese product cost less, why spend the extra for western products.
my co-worker bought the high end speakers after doing alot research and compare the sound etc etc with other speakers from western country. at the end he bought a chinese made product not because its cheap, but because he belief the quality is same as other more expensive speaker.

in the 60's-70's people think jap products are crap, but look at how japanese product compare to american made.
in the 80's-90's S.korean products was consider sub-par, but now they made quality automobile and electronics.
the quality of chinese product are improving every few years. they get their hand on alot western know-how, and they use that knowledge to improve their domestic products. they make cheap/low cost product for us, because thats what the wal-mart, target ask them too. the quality of chinese product is not gonna stay the same forever, they gonna improve it overtime. every rising economy is like that, they make sub-par product at the beginning but once the tech gap is closing, then they will pump out better products to compete against other country.

Bismark was crippled by an ancient biplane carrying a 1920's torpedo and sunk by a 1920's battleship. Yamato saw surface combat once, in the incredibly-bungled attack at Leyte Gulf, before being sunk enroute to Okinawa on a suicide mission.

If necessary, the Chinese carrier could be destroyed easily, long before it gets anywhere near Hawall...a volley of 18 Tomahawk missiles should do so nicely. The Chinese have not had a true blue-water navy since the days of Admiral Zheng He.

The world's most advanced truck-tire factory is in China...the tires they make (sold mostly under the brand name "Doublecoin") are getting very popular on OTR trucks. Never used them, but I know several people thrilled with them. Directly from one: "They track better than the Michelins they replaced, half the cost, and they last longer." He got 125,000 miles from them as steer tires, had them capped, and has another 85K on them as drive tires. They were replaced with another pair of Doublecoins.

Seems to me half a dozen attack submarines would be a better bet. Maybe sell them some of the Los Angeles-class boats.

The Bismark was alone aside from one consort, a heavy cruiser, and had no air cover. Pursuing it was a force many, many times more powerful and still it managed to sink the Hood and smash the King George IV.

The Yamato was sunk while attacking a force of over 30 fleet carriers, a dozen battleships, scores of cruisers and too many other ships to count.

The point is, today we have 300 ships, 200 of which are combatants. in 1990 we had almost 600...In 1990 China could barely get out of sight of land, today they have the beginning of a blue water navy...they are growing, we are shrinking.

Prince of Wales (not King George) was so fresh out of the yard that she still had workers aboard. In the fight with Bismark and Prinz Eugen, her main battery was down from ten guns to three after two salvoes due to her untried guns (I don't think they were even test-fired) having problems. Hood was an old (she was scheduled for a major refit in fall of 1941), under-armored ship that was not a true battleship...like all battlecruisers, Hood sacrificed armor for speed.

There's at least 4 Forrestal class carriers and some Kitty Hawk class ready for the breakers. They would still be FAR BETTER, faster and bigger than anything else on the water with the exception of the Nimitz and Ford's.
