He said that he wanted visas for anyone who wanted to work in America.
That is the definition of Open borders.

Who the (*)(*)(*)(*) said he did say anything about the minimum wage during the first debate. You need to improve your reading skills.

    http://www.house.gov/paul/congrec/congrec2000/cr030900mw.htm

I just said he wanted to get rid of the minimum wage. I didn't say when he said it.

    Quote from Slyhunter (post #67)

"He said during the first debate he wanted open borders. He wants anyone who wants to work in America to feel free to come to America to work. And he wants to get rid of the minimum wage. That way businesses can legally pay workers substandard wages for their work and Americans will have to compete for wages that won't pay the rent."

Maybe you should work on your communication skills. If you would be clear in your posts, there would be no need to backtrack and correct yourself. And why get irate? You're the one that has trouble with cogent posts.

Ron Paul said the following in the first debate regarding immigration. I challenge you to find any mention from him of open borders in that debate.

"We shouldn't give them easy citizenship. We should think about protecting our borders rather than the borders between Iraq and Afghanistan".

Maybe you should work on your listening skills, too.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that open borders would allow those who didn't want to work, too, not restrict it to only those who want to work.

You see this is a seperate sentence from the rest of the paragraph. I never implied he said anything in the first debate covered the entire paragraph. You need to re-examine your reading skills.
Nope but your reading skills suck.

I repeatedly stated he wanted open borders for "anyone who wanted to work here." what part of that are you not understanding?

Video of Ron Paul's responses in S. Carolina debate...actually the first debate....no mention of open borders there, either.

You play fast and loose with caveats, so I went back and read your posts. You did indeed specify the very first time you mentioned open borders that it was for people who wanted work, but you implied after that that it was some kind of free-for-all, which it is not. When you said
it doesn't matter if you put in the caveat a dozen times before. Here your post clearly implied wide open without restriction, whether you meant for it to or not.

Your mistaken he clearly states that he wants to give work visas to anyone who wants to come to America to work.

I'm not going to scan through that video.
    http://www.numbersusa.com/content/action/ron-paul.html
He also wants to get rid of the minimum wage.
With no minimum wage and giving visa's to anyone who wants one our wages would go extremely low, below what is necessary to pay the rent.

What are you nit picking for. What does it matter when and where he said it. He did say he wanted to give work visa's to anyone who wants them. That to me is open borders to anyone who wants a job. He also said he wants to get rid of the minimum wage as well as all entitlements. So why argue over where he said it?

I don't see anything there that says he's for an open border policy. It's more like acknowledging the problem and looking for solutions to minimize its negative impact on the economy. There's a big difference in what he said and what you interpret it to be. It really amounts to you putting words in his mouth. And, the thing you posted starts off with an editorial comment and paraphrases Ron Paul and only directly quotes selected phrases from the book.

Also, the immigration issue is not limited to just illegal Mexicans. There is also the very real issue of the need in this country for people with advanced degrees in engineering and science. Foreigners are filling many of these jobs due to a lack of US students pursuing these advanced degrees. These are fields that continue to grow faster than the number of US students there are to fill the demand. That issue has to be tackled as well when dealing with immigration.

Here is a link to a PDF outlining the visa situation as it pertains to this (foreign students with advanced degrees). It was prepared by the Congressional Research Service. http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/97-746.pdf

As to the video, don't bother scanning it because the issue of immigration wasn't even brought up in the S. Carolina debate.

I thought you said you read my post.
You seem to think that if it doesn't happen in Washington then it didn't really happen.

Because I work in a job some migrant worker could easily replace me doing the same job for $2.00 an hour. I can't pay the rent on $2.00 an hour. Therefore I'm against giving out more work visas until our unemployment rate is back below 5%.

Okay, but (yes, I'm going to try again) the states all have their own minimum wage laws, many are higher than the federal wage. Your fear of $2.00 per hour is simply not real. Also, if you are doing a good job, it would cost your employer more to fire you and hire a foreign worker of unknown quality than it would be worth, so you're safe.

I live in a state that doesn't and I can't afford to move.
I'm a contractual employee, my employer will use whomever bids the lowest.

    (warning: contains profanity)
You're right; these people *don't* speak the language and don't have an education. They don't even have SHOES half the time.
Seriously... If you can easily be replaced by one of these people, what does that say about you? Did they do your job training in pantomime?? If you've got the same skill set as a migrant worker, you clearly haven't tried hard enough.
So why should the rest of us suffer under a Federal minimum wage that sends good jobs overseas just to keep you overpaid for what you do?

Well...I've been watching this mess unfold for years...Probably older than any of ya in here...not very smart...but I'm here to tell ya I'm going to vote anyway in the primary for Ron Paul. If he doesn't get on the ticket..oh well, the others are just another Obama.

I'm a native Texan, active in local politics, I've watched Rick Perry sell our roads to foreign investors, facilitate the biggest buyout ever of TxU (Texas utilities), fast tracking the process with an executive order...and if ya don't know what a smart meter is ya better find out...have one on my home, sensors calculate wattage during peak hours and charge a much higher rate...ERCOT is petitioning to be able to control the temps in our home with the sensors, so far it is being blocked but I guarantee some lobbyist will eventually get to a politician. Went to a local Republican meetup...our Texas congressmen are touting Perry knowing full well what he is all about and they WANT the same ol same ol "business as usual" in Washington, keep blaming Washington but they ARE Washington.

First of all, Ron Paul has NEVER voted to raise taxes, NEVER voted to go to war, returns a portion of his congressional budget to the Treasury every year, declined to participate in the lucrative pension congress voted for themselves...lobbyists don't even bother to go to his office, they already know the answer. Ron Paul is not an isolationist, he is a non interventionist, big difference. Iran is not a threat, the generals have said so.

Anyone who gets their info from the mainstream media would do well to look elsewhere...they are in the pockets of their advertisers, do what they are told which is to minimize Ron Paul as much as possible and put him in a bad light because it's the media's JOB to keep citizens arguing over Democrats and Republicans issues with the end result being no resolution, thus the status quo remains for congress. Has anyone ever wondered how much money those political analysts make to confuse the issue?

I've watched Ron Paul's speeches on youtube...the one I especially like is one he made at the Republican Leadership conference in New Orleans. As long as we keep nation building, which we won't be able to do for very much longer, the war mongers and powers that be are satisfied and keep on building their wealth.

Have any of you ever read the Constitution?

Another thing I'd like to mention..tried to post a video on FB as we are trying to get the word out about Ron Paul. He won't be getting the big money the other candidates get so it's up to the little people to get the word out. The video was a clip where Ron Paul was talking about Super Congress=Super Power Grab. FB told me it was spammy/abusive. Didn't think much about it at the time...but as time went on other people were talking about FB suspending their account for 15 or 52 days, then discovered a website where info was being compiled about this...before I get blasted about FB being a private entity and having the right to disallow anything they choose I do realize we are only guaranteed freedom of speech according to the Constitution (used to be that way, anyway.) Question I have is what are they afraid of? Bingo. One of the co-founders of FB was an attendee of the Bilderberg conference. So was Rick Perry.

My point in this is that we have allowed politicians to sell our freedom and rights. We can sit around on our computers and complain til the cows come home, watch mainstream media and allow them to influence our thinking or get up and get out and DO something about it. I am hoping to see the biggest backlash against the estalishment in history...

I think your chart may be a little dated, but any current measure would show Ron Paul at the bottom, with some re-shuffling above him. The past week HAS seen a flurry of Ron Paul stories, ironically though......they are all about him being ignored by the media.

I am a Paul supporter, but I could accept whoever gets the nomination so long as it was a fair process. It's obvious that the media is playing kingmaker in this. Their abuse of the trust placed in them as the Fourth Estate jeopardizes our ability to function as a free society. At its core, this is a traitorous crime against the People.
