I see it used all the time. It's a very weak debate tactic, but it's used constantly and is nothing new at all. Just point it out for what it is when it happens.

Ad Hominem attacks do happen all the time, but people coming to venues with firm positions, that have never been tested through public discourse, can also leave licking their wounds. In a public forum, such as this, anyone can come in. The only recourse for eliminating people who are persistent in being abusive is for website moderators to ban them......and it's their call, so the only recourse for non-mods is to argue back...and when it gets to abuse, report it.

It isn't accurate to do a total history and apply that average to everything.

In the 100 years of 1800 - 1899, we spend 48 years in recession. In the 50 years of 1950 - 1999, we spent 7 years in recession (and the longest one was only 16 months, as opposed to 8 years in the 19th century).

While recessions will still happen every now and again, they are not nearly as common as they use to be, and I believe that it is clearly shown that they can be controled and limited to a degree.

Watching Hillary Clinton, state that George Soros, the man who numerous nations have had to protect themselves against, legally, is one of the greatest men is repugnant, and he is thick as thieves with Obama and his administration.
