Great news for students. Learn to borrow but not repay.

But, who pays? Joe borrows $100k for school, decides to not work, who pays? And, I wonder how "discretionary income" will be calculated? And, if you decide not to work but your parents are quite wealthy, will they be on the hook?

It does buy some votes, though, and buying votes with taxpayer money is what it's all about.

I don't see how they are contributing to society if they are unable to get a job after racking up college debt.

If Obama really cared about easing Student's loan burdens, stop guaranteeing student loans.

    What Obama said ^^^

What Obama really meant...what Obama always really means:

My Occupy Wall Street fellow travelers, I support you....

and your message has been received... by me....and my administration...

all I ask in return...is that on the afternoon of November 6th, 2012...

after you've rolled out of bed, and finished off that roach from the night before....

and before you go out to the clubs and coffee shops....

is that you find time to sqeeze in a visit to your local voting districts.... and to remember... as you cast your vote....

    who's your daddy....

that's right, Me and Big Papa Fed are your daddy.... and we will....

    with your help....

continue trying to solve every personal problem and alleviate the consequences of every personal mistake...including debt forgiveness...

we will continue to look for ways to get around Congress and the Constitution...

to do what my esteemed progressive predecessor, FDR, couldn't quite get done...

yes....we will deliver you a second Bill of Rights....

which guarantee's your rights to continuing education....

your rights to employment, with a living wage....

guarantee's your rights to free medical care....

and your rights to a decent home.

I say again...and let me be perfectly clear...with your help next November, we'll get this done....regardless of expense...regardless of revenue, deficits and debt....we can't wait any longer.

    Thank you,

    I'm Barack Obama,

    and I am

    your daddy.

As long as students pay off every penny they borrowed, I'm okay with it. I had to work full-time to put myself through college. America already has too many freeloaders. We don't want more.

They'll pay off every penny. Just not the part which will be forgiven in 20 years.

My wife and I both have loans, including my wife's grad school loan, which is very expensive. It is the biggest factor in holding us back from home ownership at the present. That said, nobody forced us to go to school and I would never expect anyone else to foot the bill. What does this say about personal responsibility in this country?

Why do the universities charge so much?

Why do we have tenured professors that hardly teach at all?

Why are the students not marching in mass on the university?

Prior to getting their policies enacted into law, nothing in leftyland ever seems to cost anything.

    You are very correct, webrockk.

When it comes to the left, their "Raison d'être " is to practice "class envy". In their minds, any action to "soak the rich” and reward the non-producers in the world while at the same time punishing the producers justifies the means to their existence!

As one of our posters has correctly observed, "Lack of legitimacy has never presented a serious obstacle to the Left. It can't - since the vast majority of their spiel is neither true nor based upon reality."

Right, because spelling mistakes indicate intelligence and success.

My electrician has six trucks and a dozen men working for him, and he sounds like Gomer Pyle. He could buy and sell you and I reckon most of today's college grads.

Laughing all the way to the bank on the insults of so-called intelligent chumps.

This is what infuriates my wife and me the most. There is a great scam building between the schools and the leftists in government- charge UP THE ASS for an often useless degree, have the government guarantee the loans, allow students to default, blame the average tax payer.

I fell like killing people every time i think about it.

So the debts fall on the taxpayer. That's good to know.
