I might add that it was none other than Barney Frank and his lover at Fannie Mae Herb Moses (the man at Fannie in charge of these programs) who created these programs. It was Barney Frank who insisted that Fannie and Freddie were solvent in the face of warnings by the Bush administration. Now it is Barney Frank saying there should be more 'regulation' when he is the one that circumvented it in the first place. This is utter insanity. That man should be wearing an orange jump suit and housed next to Bernie Madoff.

Australians live longer, Australia higher up on the HDI table, we have a higher standard of living, our public health system is better than in the US, our workers are better paid, Australian high school graduates are smarter than American graduates and Australians are generally happier than American counterparts. Also America has a much higher unemployment rate than Australia.

frodo, I don't doubt that people do sneak into Oz. My point was that so many more do here in all likelihood.
If I'm wrong about that, then so be it. But I'm far from unintelligent and I am fully able to speak, too.

 

Australia if you remember is a huge island with a huge coastline that's mostly unpatrolled.

It's also in the direct path of the Roaring Forties, which is in the main route of refugees coming from the west, namely the Middle East, Sri Lanka etc. Basically speaking, launch a vessel in the middle of the Indian Ocean and you'll bump into Australia faster than a gnat's fart.

After reading and then rereading the OP, I believe this thread is an attack on those who reside in America.

You can make your points without resorting to flamebait, which is what this thread is, IMO.
The OP makes some good points (regarding our perfect health care system ) but insists on using the terms 'zombies' and 'saps' to describe Americans.
