I see patterns of support around OWS like we saw around Barack Obama in 2008. Otherwise intelligent people being led by emotions, not brains or common sense. It's scary to see they haven't learned and are ready to jump on the next bright & shiny thing that comes along. Like OWS.

And you're right... not a word about the man who's in the pocket of Wall Street... Barack Obama.

They're simply puppets du jour. Depends on who's in town to pull their strings.

wrong. We learned with the bailouts, the skyrocketing debt, the unprovoked war to put Al Quaeda in power in Libya, the Obamacare and so much more that it DOES VERY MUCH MATTER which party is in control of Congress and the White House.

How do the OWS'ers plan to do that?

What changes do you want to make for that to happen?

Obviously you didn't learn because skyrocketing debt, unprovoked war and bailouts were all part of the Bush administration.

    Bailouts?

Bush did TARP before he left office but the banks have paid that money back with interest.

Obama bailed out GM, Chrysler and the UAW union.

That money has not yet been recovered.

You beat me to it. There is no difference between Dems and Repubs at the federal level. Zero. Nada. Zip. They are all bought and paid for, and not by us.

OWS opposes corporatism. Corporatism is another word for Big Business. I oppose Big Business too.

However, OWS apparently doesn't realize that Big Business is fused with Big Govt. and Big Labor. OWS likes Big Govt. and Big Labor.

    Ergo, OWS must be opposed.

There are major differences between tea=party supported congressmen & women elected in 2010 and the old dogs of DC. Or do you believe reps like Alan West are already in somebody's pocket?

There's no such thing as a permanent position in the white house or congress. To admit defeat is to refuse to take the steps outlined in the Constitution to remedy the situation. There's no other way to clean house.

Some very good points raised in the OP but nearly all the points are undercut by the messengers themselves (and some unrealistic crazy demands that they have brought out, all on their own). Why blame the media for showing the rabble that comprises these protests in action?
And if the constructive sensible Occupy message is being drowned out by guys that defecate on police vehicles and throw rocks and bottles...whose fault is that?

Less whining and more constructive action, please. For starters, how about the constructive Occupy people announce an end, on their part, of this movement that has turned into a vehicle for anarchist criminals and the dregs of society until sanity is restored. And then they can come back and try and get their message out in a more sane and useful way.

But please! Enough of the pity party and crying over this Occupy movement that has become a violent joke. It was your show and you people blew it!

    That isn't what corporatism means.

There is no such thing as "big labor" in the US. Labor unions are a tiny minority with little influence on politics, which is why many democrats have abandoned union related goals over the last two decades.

It is a stretch to say OWS loves big government, whatever that means. Big government is generally a conservative talking point that signifies very little. "Big" in what way? Are you against the ever-expanding prison system? The trillions of dollars poured into defense? The food and drug administration? CIA? FBI? Or are food stamps and public transit the only "big government" you oppose?

The genuine tea party members in Congress are in such a minority that I haven't seen any difference. Lets see: we are still in multiple wars without end; the debt ceiling was raised; we are still spending money that we don't have; the president committed murder of an American citizen by Executive Order without a trial and got away with it, setting a chilling precedent; the Patriot Act is still in force; the TSA is expanding from airports to the nation's highways; and yes, we have some tea partiers in office. Hip hip hooray.

Really? There are Congressmen who have been in office for more than 50years.This link shows a list of Congressmen who have been in office for extended periods ranging from 36 to 57.5 years: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_members_of_the_United_States_Congress_by_longevity_of_service
Then why haven't we done that yet?

Jeffrey Immelt and Richard Trumka are the poster boys of Big Business and Big Labor. They are pals with Barack Obama who is himself the poster boy of Big Govt.

Quite a bit actually. We had a few successful primary challenges. We ended the single party control in DC. We now have an 87 member caucus in the house of representatives.

And more importantly, we put up a firewall in DC preventing any more large spending bills such as tarp or the stimulus. Now the empty suit is stuck whining about how he can't pass another 'jobs' bill.

Most importantly, we altered the course of public discourse. The most important issue of the day is reducing the deficit.

    What has OWS accomplished?

I oppose the federal govt. on all issues across the board. The federal govt. is the instrument of the left for the imposition of its notion of social justice. In order to oppose the monster effectively one must advocate against all aspects of the federal govt. No exceptions.

Okay, so 13 posts before this one and none of them addressed a single issue discussed. Just verification that A) They get all of their information from the MSM and believe it lock, sotck and barrel and B) they would prefer willfull ignorance over anything that might contradict what the SpinDoctors have to them to believe. Oh, and that there are a lot of angry unhappy people here!

So rather than return your insults, I would respecfully invite you to consider whether it's possible that there is more to OWS than is being shared by the American MSM.
Yes. There are a lot of whackjobs out there. See, I can acknowledge your point - I will be curious as to whether a single Conservative has that ability. Thus far, zero of them have but we'll see.
So if you really want to believe that's all there is to a movement that has spread and gained recognition world-wide, in less than two months, then don't worry about facts, evidence or reality.
If you want to know more about what it is growing into, what the next level is becoming, then I would welcome a civil discussion. Men of reason and intellect are capable of such things.

The most fundamental problem with the OP is that it refutes itself.

You complain of corporatism and then propose to eliminate by empowering the cause of its rise.

Also you might want to learn what hedging is.

Hit the nail right on the head with that one. Wouldn't hold out too much hope for the rest of that though, the whole "civil, intellectual debate" thing. In here you're gonna get a lot of ad hominem and poorly sourced arguments backed by a lifetime of flawed indoctrination.

When you acknowledge the tea party as a grassroots movement powered by everyday middle class people fed up with the government and its crony capitalism maybe I might acknowledge the OWS movement as something positive. But with the way the tea party has been bashed by the media I really could care less about what I see as a bunch of spoiled brats.

    Your source?

Oh... that's right... you didn't have one.

ALL of my sources ARE OWS. They are all official.

    They are also all linked.

I agree with you on this. Unfortunately, the earliest, grass roots component of the movement has a lot of people who are pretty damaged. I met an Iraq veteran who admitted he has ptss. Had his right leg and forearm blown off by an IED. I could go on but the guy is pretty damaged, he's not getting squat as far as help goes and he often acts inappropriately. Even he admits it. Another gal I met was also mentally damaged goods. She really should get care but she's in a Catch-22 so oh well. There are a lot of people like that. They make for great tv.
I mean, who wants to listen to a clean-cut, business owning Occupier in a suit, talk about campaign finance reform or whatever, when they can get one of the more colorful people on camera? But I have to give CNN credit, today they did just that. Took 'em long enough though.

So yes, I agree that the component of OWS that does those things is bad for the movement.

I FULLY and sincerely acknowledge the Tea Party as a grass roots movment powered by everyday middle class people fed up with the government and its crony capitalism! I have been to several meetings and rallies! The people were friendly and rational. MUCH better than those who get all the air time or the whackjobs they portrayed them to be on tv! Also, I fully agree with them that our government is ridiculously duplicative and wasteful.
See, that's what happens when you don't base your beliefs on political party, ideology or what the MSM tells you.

I'll be curious to see your response.
