    Not really. 42% of respondents think the RW is so unhinged they would resort to violence.
    That's an incredibly high number.

    Right.
    That was when the party cut the south loose and let the republicans align with them.
    Lyndon Johnson said "We've lost the south for the next fifty years." They knew what they were doing, what the costs were, and they did it anyway.
    The Republicans swooped in, not caring a bit that the racist mantle would be transferred to them.
    They have often worn it with pride ever since.
