In my opinion, YES. Workers have to go thru "sensititivy training", disabled eople are called "differently abled" or "uniquely challenged", the military refuses to criticise Islam, the list goes on...

I don't agree with the Islam part. Islam is not part of the problem. Its the radicals that lie and say hey go blow this stuff up. Those brainwashing evil people are to blame. Very small percentage.

PC is a problem in this country and it's all because of the Liberals. This is not even debatable.

There needs to be some sort of sensitivity and politeness in the political sphere, but the extent of this in America is pretty ridiculous, and it's especially bad because it's asymmetrical, giving some groups the ability to use powerful and insulting rhetoric against others which cannot return in kind.

    Funny one. Good poll. LOL

America is a bunch of wooooses. Just ask Carlos Mencia, Geirge Carlin (RIP), Bill Mahar, Eddie Griffin, and Lisa Lapanelli. They will tell you the problem with America and they will tell you what they think is the solution., You might learn something.

    Duh?
Every group has exemptions where they are not subject to the same standards. a gay man does x to you yet if you do X back it is bashing or a hate crime. same with blacks. a woman can claim harassment and you are presumed guilty. She may not even have expressed any outrage or said anything yet later crop up and spread her story because she "felt" harassed.
Political correctness caused the public lynchings of the Carolina lacrosse team and the belief in the Lies Al Sharpton spread in the tawanna Brawley fiasco.
Political correctness and its growing foolishness will help spread the very intolerance it proposes to want to heal. It has become an absurdity.

Yes. And the horrible part of "politically correct" is that it inhibits communications among individuals and groups who should be communicating.

People are afraid to talk to people who might be different from them.

Politeness, I can get behind. But I think we do our minority populations no favors by our political correctness. Immigrants do far far better when they learn English and adapt to American culture, which multiculturalism actively discourages. It weakens the nation as a whole because instead of "us" being all Americans, it turns into "all Americans of my cultural heritage". So then you end up tearing apart America and American identity in persuit of ever larger goodies for your "oppressed" people and dividing the nation into sects or tribes who can't see past the good of their own group. Eventually a crisis comes that requires that we put aside our differences to counter the threat, and we won't be able to do it.

I was required to attend a three-day session on diversity. Oh, it was wonderful and in the last session we were each asked to tell the group what we'd learned. I said, "I learned which groups it's okay to hate." As the organizers screamed at me, sound hateful, too, I read my list. "Males, whites, Christians, Republicans, conservatives, heterosexuals, Jews, conservative blacks but not liberal blacks, conservative women but not liberal women."

A student in a intensive English class said, "I keep hearing about the N-word. What's this N-word I'm not supposed to say?"

Teacher: "I can't tell you what the N-word is because we can't say it. So, to be safe, don't say any word that starts with N. Or C. We have a C-word, too. Oh, and the B-word. No B-words either. Oh, oh, and no, W-words. What used to be called the F-word is okay now thanks to the ACLU but that's the only letter in the alphabet that's safe."

I hate it when some takes a word that we hear every day if we listen to popular music and say we have to call it the n-word. Stupid.

This title was Bill Maher show title becasue it lacked lacked PC but, with the slant
to the left. I think we all agree the entire country is too P.C. but we want it to fit our own style of politics and beliefs. being a bigot about Islam is not political correctness. It is just intolerance of another religon.
Atheist go too far in being offended by the word Christmas, Christians go too far as this poster did by assuming being PC was a free pass to take a slap at muslims.
People this year instead of putting all those lights outside of your house burning so beautifully, how about checking on the light inside of you, and practice a little tolerance. It has nothing to with being politically correct but everything to do with being the best you, you can be: I know that what I need to do!

PC is another cancerous creation of the far left 5th column trying to subdue a particular demographic and putting up double-standards that not only divide people further but it just how much lairs and hypocrites the sons of (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)es really are!

The more the libertards try to bring us together they're actually tearing us apart. (*)(*)(*)(*) 'em I say it's open season on these liberal sons of (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)es! :gun:

    If I may interject here.

Why would the military "criticize Islam"? Is it the job of the military to make statements criticizing religions?

As for the rest, feel free to call people whatever you like. I am not sure why you would be compelled, in your personal life, to call folks something else.

Which part is not debatable on this debatable forum?

I need to know so that should I wish, I can address the other part.

That's easy, BeeVee. The part that is not debatable is whatever part the left says it is. They will declare it hate speech and you'll be prosecuted. Freedom of speech does not extend to disagreeing with liberals.

Any amount of political correctness is too much. But modern America is pathetic about it. Sensitivity training is the worst idea in the world. Why don't they call it what it is; weakness training?

When you get your feelings hurt about something, that is nature telling you that you are not as strong as you need to be. You should take that as a cue to toughen yourself up so that you are no longer bothered by it. That's what mentally and emotionally healthy people do. And as a result, they become even happier because it is harder for anyone or anything to ruin their day.

When you reward sensitivity, it makes people more sensitive. And the more sensitive they become, the more easily offended they get. And eventually you get to a place where everyone is so fragile that the entire country is walking on eggshells and nobody can even be honest anymore without somebody going to pieces over it.

Yeah, America is such a drag!

Administrators in business are stopped from communicating to their underlings "Baby, with bazongas like YOURS, you have a great FUTURE at our company if you play ball with MY mallet! Wink, wink, nudge, nudge!"

How's a guy supposed to play favorites if he can't communicate?

I was required to attend sensitivity training when a transgendered co-worker decided to go under the knife and become a woman. It was all very official... they even hired a professional 'group counselor' who'd been thru the process years earlier but still looked and sounded like Charles Bronson in drag. We got to hear her entire life story.

TMI was the general impression. :omg:

Actually, that's classified as sexual harrassment, not political correctness.

Yes, America is too politically correct. Why else would I feel uncomfortable talking about Anarcho-Capitalism in public?
