    Did you know.....?

1997 high school shooting in Pearl, Miss., was halted by the school's vice principal after he retrieved the Colt .45 he kept in his truck.

1998 middle school shooting ended when a man living next door heard gunfire and apprehended the shooter with his shotgun.

2002 terrorist attack at an Israeli school was quickly stopped by an armed teacher and a school guard.

2002 law school shooting in Grundy, Va., came to an abrupt conclusion when students carrying firearms confronted the shooter.

2007 mall shooting in Ogden, Utah, ended when an armed off-duty police officer intervened.

2009 workplace shooting in Houston, Texas, was halted by two coworkers who carried concealed handguns.

2012 church shooting in Aurora, Colo., was stopped by a member of the congregation carrying a gun. .

At the recent mall shooting in Portland, Ore., the gunman took his own life minutes after being confronted by a shopper carrying a concealed weapon.

About 2,500 times a year legal gun owners stopped violent crime when confronted with it long before any police assistance ...
Of course, you probably didn't know any of this because mainstream media doesn't find it worth reporting. It's not sensational enough and doesn't fit with their agenda.
Why do some people / politicians think removing rights from responsible people will somehow keep them safe ?

    :?: What say you ...

I say most of the time when I'm out in public I'm prepared for an encounter.

Stop cherry picking. "Good guys" with guns do more harm that good:

"Multiple simulations have demonstrated that most people, if placed in an active shooter situation while armed, will not be able to stop a shooter, and may in fact get themselves killed in the process.

"As instructors told Klepper, it requires hundreds of hours of training to be able to deal with these types of situations....

"The results explain why it's so rare for 'a good guy with a gun' to stop active shooters. According to the FBI's report on active shooter events between 2000 and 2013, only about 3 percent were stopped by a civilian with a gun. Unarmed civilians actually stopped more incidents — about 13 percent."
    https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2015/12/11/9891664/daily-show-mass-shootings

"John Donohue, a law professor at Stanford University, was a co-author of a National Bureau of Economic Research study that examined how gun violence coincides with the ability for individuals to carry concealed weapons, known as Right To Carry (RTC) laws. The NBER study discredited the idea of the 'good guy with a gun' as a possible solution to gun violence.

"Donohue told ABC News that the research 'concluded that allowing citizens to carry handguns seems to increase violent crime 13 to 15 percent by the 10th year' of the laws being enacted in the state."

Highly questionable since cars are very useful for transportation. Guns, in contrast, have little utility in the modern world.

Thank you for confirming a simple reality that many of us have already learned the hard way but the criminal enablement crowd (aka gun control element) refuses to admit.

My state, Virginia, has the recent misfortune of being infected by Bloomberg's Democratic, criminal enablement crowd that is eagerly working to disarm as many law abiding citizens as possible to make it easier for their constituents to rob, rape & assault working Virginians with impunity.

Our current Bloomberg - Northam administration has proposed absolutely nothing that will reduce crime in our dangerous inner-city areas but has proposed adding funds to the state's Dept. of Corrections budget for the incarceration of those who refuse to comply with their pending, unconstitutional gun bans.

    Re:
Virginia's up and coming Democratic politicians have already demonstrated a complete unwillingness to keep anyone any safer except for the criminal element to which they pander.

Aside from the heroes who stop or deter crimes in public, guns are quite the deterrent in stopping a burglar or rapist. If no one had a gun, except criminals, these crimes would skyrocket. When a home intruder doesn't know which house may be heavily protected by firearms, they take a much higher personal risk at planning a break-in.

Good guys with guns are all over the country.

Gun legislation never impacts criminals. That's why they are called "lawless".

Yup, the lax gun laws supported by gun apologists make it easy for criminals to get guns. But countries like Australia and the UK have much lower gun crime rates. Consistently strict gun control leads to a lot fewer criminals getting guns and using them in crimes.

~ Those countries did not have many guns to begin with. They still don't. America cannot and should not go down that road. We have the 2nd Amendment for a reason. More people should exercise that right.

Reminds me of the Venezuelans trying to overthrow Maduro with a citizens' uprising earlier this year. The government was shooting their own citizens, and the unarmed people tried to fight back with the only weapons they had: rocks and Molotov cocktails. Maduro won. Citizens are living without food, electricity or healthcare.

Look at the Yellow Vest uprising in France, too. People are rising up against government overreach, but they're pretty helpless.

The 2nd Amendment was originally intended to protect us in the event of a tyrannical government taking power.

This is not true since cars are not primarily designed to harm and kill.

If the government ever tries to completely take away America's guns, I could see a Mad Max scenario unfold....;)

Nope, I don't know anything like sarcasm. Many people have already criticized that.
Do you think cars exist to kill people?

They can. When people don't have guns, they find other weapons. There are quite a few instances the last few years of people intentially driving their cars into crowds of people.

Britain now has a "knife" problem. Knives don't "exist" to kill people....but they sure can.

America's founding fathers were rebels who fled government repression. A healthy distrust of the government is embedded in the DNA of today's Americans. :D

True in most cases. A glaring exception is the rise in popularity of Socialist ideology in America.

Many things can be used as a deadly weapon. Even a rolled-up newspaper. The key question is whether they were made for that.

Australia’s murder rate by knife, bludgeoning and beating is much higher than in the U.S. though. What does that show us?

It shows that Australia has more restrictive gun laws, so violent offenders are required to use other means to kill people.
