Another shooting tragedy! Who will turn out to be the perpetrators? There is the Boko Haram insurgency in the north:

It was almost certainly a radical Islamic faction.

Nigeria has been facing some deep divisions between its Christian half in the South and its Muslim half in the dry deserty North that is full of sand.

This isn't the only country in Africa where Christian Churches are in danger.

Take the totalitarianism of Islam and combine it with the savagery of Africa, and it's not a good combination.

Only the extremely politicized factions of Islam are totalitarian, just like the Christians in the US.

Africa is far from being "savage" culturally at this time and really never was.

I'm pretty sure Africa is, and has always been very savage. Look at the murder rate.

Not going back in their history, especially not before the Slave Trade. That and Colonialism has done a number on that continent but you probably discount all that.

For centuries, the West has set off wars and conflict in Africa so they could exploit the continent relatively undisturbed. We played a huge role in turning Africa into what it is now.

They were selling slaves before the West ever showed up. What role did the west play other than buying slaves already for sale?

That's like saying the USA has no part in the Mexican Drug Trade besides buying all the drugs.

The point being demand for slaves did not create Africa's slave trade. They sold each other to each other already.

When's the last time Christians in America went to a mosque and shot the place up and detonated bombs?

Africa is a backwards country. They're sitting on probably the world's most richest continent of natural resources and they still exist largely in poverty

And slavery still exist there to this very day but you don't hear all the social justice warriors demanding reparations from Africans and that they stop the institution of slavery there

Between 2007 and 2017, the PEW organization found that "Christians experienced harassment by governments or social groups in the largest number of countries"—144 countries—but that it is almost equal to the number of countries (142) in which Muslims experience harassment.

That is just selective framing of the statistics.
How much harassment is going on in these countries, and what type of "harassment" is it?

There are only 195 countries in the world, and a few of those countries don't even have any sizeable Muslim or Christian populations. 144 out of 195 is about 74%.
Basically all that supposed "statistic" is really saying is that most countries where any religious group is, there are some cases of harassment against that group.

So-called "statistics" like that are just deceptively misleading, and nearly meaningless.

(And no top of that, I bet that statistic you presented counts Muslim harassment against other Muslim groups from a different sect.)

It could easily be mathematically be possible for, say, group A to be the victim of 10 times more overall harassment than group B, while at the same time group B is the victim of harassment in a larger number of countries.

So the statistic you presented doesn't really say anything at all in this situation! (Even though it deceptively tries to make people think it does)

Which is a moot point and irrelevant, and has nothing to do with my reply.

You know better than this, "Moonglow".

The problem with captured prisoners is you have to feed them, so they sold them to the Dutch. Back in the day slavery was part of life. Literally. If you have no use for them and cant sell them, you are stuck.

Cannibalism is practically unknown in Africa, the Crusaders did it more. The nations of Europe were murdering each other quite extensively from 1939 to 1945

I challenge you to find some sort of attack that was ever perpetrated by a devout Christian like this. And don’t reach back 200-300 years.
