I thought we were discussing who teaches best, and how they are taught,... not about salaries.

We are talking about quality. Low pay, low quality.

No more than here. It's the same model. I'd accuse them of copying us, but they can get sensitive if anyone accuses them of being like Americans.

And yet they are more motivated than American teachers. If it is about money that is understandable. Teachers do more good for society than basketball players but for some reasons their talents are not as much in demand. When I was discharged from the Army I took a job with a large corporation that paid me twice what I earned as a high school teacher and I was just as much a beginner. What do you think about the current issue about teaching non academic subjects in public school? Perhaps a focus on the three R's might be a good thing.

Or better, a return to discipline. I went to private schools. My grade school required uniforms. My high school took recalcitrant students into a close and spanked them with a paddle. There was pretty good behavior overall.

But to your point, teachers do have real accountability. None are fired for poor performance, none get raises for excellent work. It is government and behaves like government. I was lucky to be able to have attended private schools.

but Democrat views are OK because you do not view them as being extreme. Do you not see the self-contradiction?

The pay elsewhere is probably not much better.

    Thank you. Spot on.

None are fired? It's more like their contracts are not renewed. But still, they get fired, it just requires proof of wrong doing. Here in NC, tenure was eliminated a few years ago, and that makes it simple to get rid of teachers.

And I went to public schools that also used corporal punishment. Back then, we didn't go home and complain to Mom and Dad because we'd get punished again. In today's world, if a teacher takes action to stop misbehavior, that teacher can get into more trouble than the students. They really have to be careful.

They're better teachers because they're smarter people.
It is about money. We can't attract even marginally qualified STEM instructors with pay like this...

    upload_2021-10-18_22-54-31.jpeg

Good schools already emphasize basic skills. I worked on basic skills when I taught high school students how to create and run a business.

I would never have taught school if I needed the money.

Teachers dumb enough to accept blame for students' actions can get screwed by parents and administrators looking to offload their responsibility.
    True.

Oh, concerned parents are "maggots" now?

Stumbled across this short video clip. I think it does a good job of illustrating what we were talking about.

Those who falsely claim "teachers are telling white kids they should be ashamed of being white," yes.

I spent too much of my teaching career trying to recruit STEM teachers for my district. The pay and working conditions were impossible to overcome.

So when Parents say: "We don't want you to tell our children that they should be ashamed of being white." Why do they fight tooth and nail, claim the parents are domestic terrorists, rather than saying "No problem, we would NEVER do that!"

Do you have any sense of just how fed up the nation is with these radical abusive union school teachers that are so viciously attacking American parents?

    And they will vote.

    Betting Odds GOP Congressional Control
    Senate GOP +11
    House GOP +44

    https://electionbettingodds.com/House2022.html

Some folks should probably readjust to a stance of greater respect for the rights of their fellow Americans, but, I see no signs that they will. If they think Americans are going to lay down for their abuse, they will be solidly disabused of that notion after the upcoming elections. These wild radicals might want to note that they have 2 ears, but only one mouth, and that's because they should listen twice as much as they lecture others. If they were smart they would take the cotton out of their ears and stuff it in their mouths. But, I am seeing no evidence of that.

The public school unions are Marxist and flooded with homos.

    What good do they do?

They steal, lie, hate, discriminate, molest, sick the FBI on critics, and fail to teach basic math and English despite being funded more than any other country. They are leftwing anti American kleptocratic bigots who never are held accountable.... Vouchers will hold them accountable, which is why you oppose them...

They stand falsely accused. I don't know if I would characterize their accusers as "domestic terrorists," but they're unsavory characters.
    Teacher terrorists.

It was a simple question you tap danced past. Here it is again:

When Parents say: "We don't want you to tell our children that they should be ashamed of being white." Why do they fight tooth and nail, claim the parents are domestic terrorists, rather than saying "No problem, we would NEVER do that!"

The lying accusers don't care about the truth. They're all about trying to gain power with lies based on a means justifying the rationale.

If I may be so bold as to jump in here, if parents want to say tell teachers that, a proper response like you proposed would be in order.
That's not what SOME of the parents are doing, though.
What if the exchange occurs as you lay out, except the parents state keep going? Or even escalate it to threats of violence? Just look at some of the comments on this thread. Some here have stated that there is a liberal agenda being pushed at schools. Several posters, who are or were teachers, said there was not, and it didn't make one bit of difference to the accuser. Add to that the threat of violence.
What you're proposing makes sense, but only if people treat each other with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case.
