So embarrassing for Americans who have integrity and know right from wrong. Trump and his enablers have made the USA the s**t-hole country Trump accused other countries of being. The USA is being sold off for parts by a greedy rapacious crime syndicate. No one was guarding the hen house and the establishment Dems should have been doing just that as opposed to becoming as beholden to their donors as the corrupt GOP is to theirs. Trump and his racketeering ring is the final nail in the coffin. All are to blame and shame on them! They should have a giant "T" for Traitor branded on their foreheads for failing to uphold what people fought wars and died for in the name of the USA.

 

Agreed. I have not met one Australian who does not mourn for America. For decades America was our elder sibling and someone we have stood beside in conflict after conflict. We have been a staunch ally and trading partner The power vacuum that has been increasingly obvious since Trump took office has all us smaller nations concerned as China has expanded into the pacific

That's laughable, America has lamented as they've watched what's happened in Australia - as Australia seems to be turning into another UK when it comes to individual rights and civil liberties. (Now it's true America certainly has been far from perfect, of course, but Australia seems to be changing more faster and worse, rather authoritarian in many respects. Would probably be even far worse if Australia was the one running the world)

 

Ferchristsakes, the failure of America is an accumulation of horrible politicians for the last 100 years. Trump's impact on isn't really any more significant than Wilson, Clinton, Reagan or Obsma. They were all terrible in their own way.

And most other countries aren't any better, and that includes Canada and Australia.

You have to understand we have a different constitution than you do. As for authoritarianism- Depends. At present we are complying because we can see what happens to case load and death rate if we don’t. We just have to look to America for the ultimate stuff up. Same as guns - we saw the horrific death rate in America and decided we did not want that here. What is very different about our two countries is that we care if people live or die

The USA actually has a death cult and it's easy to see in the attitude these folks have regarding the pandemic and how it affects the economy as compared to the importance they place on the lives and well being of the elderly or even in many cases children. That goes for gun control as well.

A Canadian friend who has lived in Europe for the past 30 years recently toured the US and stopped in for a visit. His perception of the US - formed mostly by his recent travels were interesting. He likened the US to a teenager or twenty something with too much money. Comparatively little life experience, yet so confident that he has the biggest, best, fastest and strongest of everything. He was particular about emphasizing how he couldn't get over the superlative nature of many he met and, certainly, most in the public eye. I wish I could disagree with him, but he made a compelling argument. He didn't say America was bad, or Americans awful. He simply said we had a very distinctive 'style' and needed, desperately, to grow up!

 

You’re sorry for us? Bahahahah The reason you folks and the rest of the world are crying is because your countries have been inundated with liberalism and you are shocked that America isn’t following along with your stupidity. America is the last bastion of conservative ideology in the western world and we are getting stronger because of it while you folks are terrified that in order to continue to rely upon America to make up for the inevitable pitfalls of your socialist ideology, you’re going to have to become more conservative.

The USA has OBJECTIVELY done more to lift more people out of poverty than any country in the history of the world. We are leaders or near the very top by almost any objective measure of success.

The only thing “failed” about America is that socialist ideology has inundated our system. But we are working to change that. After Trump wins the election we will go a lot further towards that goal.
