As is often the case your opinions are unsubstantiated. Reviews of existing data do not support your opinion quoted above.

    https://academic.oup.com/cid/advance-article/doi/10.1093/cid/ciab903/6397523
Here is a study that shows viral load of index cases was not associated with outcomes of secondary cases.

    https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fmicb.2021.646679/full

Unfortunately both public opinionand public health strategy were predicated on the thin anecdotalevidence that existed for this theory. Just another case of those who aresupposed to know better notfollowing the “science “.

It’s time to stop repeating that urban legend that is not supported by science. You continue to disseminate this disinformation even though you’ve been shown the evidence produced through the scientific method directly conflicts with your unsubstantiated opinion.

    You still must wear them!

Masks were about the science as much as climate change. A total sham.

Are you serious about still wearing them or are you being cynical?

I believe Starcastle's first part was sarcastic, followed by a truth about how much of a sham both climate change and mask wearing are.

Fauci knows the "pandemic" is a hoax, just as he pushed the HIV/AIDS hoax narrative years ago.

I am a conservative through and through and I believe this study is total BS. I am 3-weeks from my first positive test. Where I got the virus, two others were at the table with me without masks, but I was closest to the suspected giver. Had the giver been wearing a mask, I believe I would have had better than 50% chance of not getting it from that person. I know this because 5 or 6 of them were sick with Covid in December when we were in there, but then they were still required to mask and we did not get sick even though we had the same contact as we had 4-weeks back.

LOL... speaking of being well-versed in statistics. You should pay more attention to the study design. This was basically an ecological study, that didn't seem to control for anything, and it cannot show what you claim it shows. People could be wearing masks because the covid outbreak is worse, or even because they BELIEVE it's worse. And if the outbreak is actually worse, then both death and mask-wearing will be higher. This doesn't show that masks don't work, only that putting on a mask doesn't provide perfect protection forever.

While it may not be ethically permissible, the design required would be a double-blind clinical trial that actually controls for confounding variables. But I was previously convinced by a simple study showing that a surgical mask does, in fact, reduce the transmission of infectious droplets. Simple, and avoids all the complications/confounders that large-scale studies bring.

I noticed that some urban covid cult members have resumed wearing useless masks in certain coastal California urban areas. Idiots!

Yep. These people don't have near enough knowledge of the reality.

I work in a mask, in an environment of high exposure (large public hospital). The difference when both the positive patient and the clinician are both wearing properly fitted surgical standard masks, is close to 100%. If that wasn't the case, there would never be any doctors or nurses showing up at work. They'd all be off sick, all the time.

It's worth adding that the current Influenza A is turning out to be worse for many people ... especially the younger and fitter who didn't struggle too much with COVID. I have colleagues who were out for weeks, whereas COVID only took them out for a few days.

More than enough reason to both get your flu shot, AND keep masks on when indoors in crowded places.

I pointed out to some of our armchair experts around here that forcing children from kindergarten to third grade to wear a mask is going to do more harm than good.

Their little kids, they're going to snot into them and booger into them and touch all over them and pull them down and then touch everything else with their contaminated little hands.

I tend to agree, but only because there are alternatives. Keep kids decently separated at desks, and leave windows and doors open to external air. Cold climate folks will have to work around that somehow. Wood burning stoves in each classroom maybe, which also helps with moist particles, and can keep a room relatively warm even with windows open.

~ Nobody in the public does this. I would be surprised if the average person even takes a clean mask each day.
I believe the mask mandates are only a test of government authority. One of many failures of everything from WHO to local city government. Nothing but confusion and fear mongering.
~ I believe this was the conclusion of the CDC when testing masks on school children. The cross ventilation made the most difference.

LOL!!! Yes, wood stoves in every classroom. This is right up there with arming the children with automatic weapons to keep them safe.

So doctors all over the world are involved in a grand conspiracy. And for the last century, medical workers have all worn masks to prepare the public for government control.

And they have flying kangaroos in New Zealand.

And instead of looking to the consensus opinion among actual experts, you play holiday inn expert and do it yourself using your expertise as a farmer. That is crackpottery. One study doesn't prove anything. A real scientist knows that,. I guess they don't teach that in Ag classes.

The links I provided were reviews BY EXPERTS of peer reviewed studies, other data, and meta analysis of peer reviewed studies.

The consensus of experts and the peer reviewed studies used to come to their conclusions are in my links. Your link is someone’s unsubstantiated opinion.

I’m uninterested in your opinion. I’ll stick with peer reviewed research thank you very much!

Again, I provided actual evidence, you have none, just opinions. LOL

    Conclusion
Viral load, as indicated by Ct values, did not seem to be associated with requirement for oxygenation on admission in our cohort. We postulate however that time since onset of symptom may have acted as an unaccounted-for confounder. As such, RT-PCR Ct values may not be a useful prognostic clinical tool in isolation.
