‘Reparations Happy Hour’ Invites White People to Pay for Drinks

I never owned a slave in my life and I doubt anyone today ever has either so why do we owe them anything? No person of color today has ever been a slave in the US so why do they think we owe them anything?

 

Ask all the white people dumb enough to entertain the narrative and the politicians who don’t immediately call them dumb. The silence of liberal politicians who condone through silence, is what’s scary.

 

A guy like Trump, was raised up and enjoyed his education while black people were still legally and violently oppressed by the white and jewish population. You talk about slavery. But them Jim Crow laws ended 20 years after WWII. And the social economical head start obtained from that era is being passed down to the next generation, like yourself. You know this. And all you want now, is that there may not be an equal playing field.

 

Where are the reparations for whites who are the victims of violent crime by blacks? There's a lot more of those alive today than slaves or slave owners.

 

Its not about perpetuating victim status its about exploiting the suffering of past generations to get free ****.

Nobody thinks that deeply.

 

I'm as white as you can get and I would buy this young man a drink in a heartbeat.

The son cannot be held responsible for the sins of the father, and that simple truth comes into play here.

I do not believe that it would be wise , fair, or practical to pay reparations to generations of Blacks who had not been slaves. It is also not fair to those Non Blacks whose families never owned a slave to pay people who never were slaves reparations.

Yet I wonder how Germans who were children during the Nazi era or who were not born during Nazism feel about paying for reaparations to victims of Nazism! After all those Germans never killed any Jews or taken any property from Jews. In most cases the families of post war adult German never killed a Jew or burned a Sinagogue or taken Jewish property. Yet their tax dollars have paid for reparation.

I think that for 20 or 30 years after WWII Holocaust reparations were right but as the guilty Germans died off so should have the reparations.

I am conflicted with the question of reparation for slavery as I gave been with continued reparations for the Holocaust.

But, there always is a but so my late father's words ring in my ears as the Great Partizan said- " all Germans had blood on there hands".

Ps - my parents ( non Jews) were survivors of Nazi run forced labor camps and they could have received a small "Social Security ". payment from Germany starting at age 65 but my dad said- " I do not want their #^*€¥¥€*%#<ing blood money". I had had filed the applications for them and sent them to Germany but I formally withdrew the applications at my parents request.

PS - add edit sorry but one more thought on Slavery reparations. Since my parents and I immigrated as refugees to the US ( as yes you immigrant haters and/ or Trump fans we were legal) not only did we not own Black American slaves but neither did my ancestors. So how would it be fair to me to pay reparations!

 

One more point of slavery reparations that feed my conflicted opinion of slavery reparations is that slave owners were compensated for the loss of their "property " after the slaves were freed. I am currently reading a history of the Civil War where this is mentioned but I forgot whether it was for slaves owners in all states or was it split between Traitorous Rebel states vs states loyal to the Union

 

I'm a liberal but this is one liberal issue I can never get behind.

I don't owe reparations.
My family immigrated here fifty years after slavery was abolished.
I was never a slave owner.
No African American alive today has ever been a slave.
I don't feel white guilt, and I don't owe you even an apology.
I did nothing wrong and I won't fold to the idea that I do because my skin has no melanin.

I support equal rights, and I am an enemy of discrimination. That doesn't mean I will allow someone to insist I should repent because of my skin color. When I decided to oppose racist positions, it included all racism, not just the one way street many liberals seem to think racism exists on today.

Yea your right, because the first 400yrs black folks were in this country we had it better than most whites.

Such was the nature of slavery, which did not begin with africans selling other captured africans from other tribes to slave traders who brought them to the new world. Slavery existed for as long as civilization existed. And not limited to just africans either. It was the way that world was. People today think it was wrong, but not back then.

I doubt if the shoe was on the other foot, if blacks had owned slaves, and had settled america, that they would have ever freed them. Unlike the white people. I see no blacks being grateful that the white people freed slaves, and then outlawed slavery. No credit is given. And yet it is deserved.

If not for white people freeing black slaves, you would be a slave today. Uneducated, and owned by another human being. Easy to forget that fact, huh?

Perhaps one day black americans will understand how much they owe the white americans for doing the right and moral thing in regards to slavery? I will not hold my breath for that. Not as long as these people can use slavery as an excuse for their irresponsible behavior.

 

And it must be pointed out that the descendants of slaves are better off than blacks in their home countries.

 

Only in Washington DC for about 3000 slaves that were freed there.

 

I would hope someone filed a descrimination lawsuit against the bar and the promoters of the event.

 

Nobody claimed it was, but stop telling the lie that black folks have never faced injustices in this country and in many cases still do.

I will agree with you and make a public statement to that regard but you will need to proove to me that Blacks and only Blacks have ever used welfare, public housing, and prison benefits. Yes you need to show absolute, 100 % proof that it was exclusively Blacks who reaped the harvest of those benefits hthat you listed.
