Don't you need to read Trump's twitter feeds soon to find out who you need to be angry at now?

    A) Actually, a 10% drop followed by an 8% drop does not mean the total drop was 18%. You don't add them together. For example - take 100. Subtract 10% (ten). That leaves 90. Then subtract 8% of 90 (7.2). That leaves 82.8%. So the total drop is 17.2% - not 18%. Just sayin'....

    B) All that proves is a lot of Trumpbots watch NFL football. No surprise there. In fact, how could the ratings not have dropped? I doubt people who hate football would watch entire football games just for the national anthem. So NFL ratings were more-or-less as high as they were going to get for that week. So naturally, when Trumpbots' God tells them to not watch, they didn't. There was almost no way there was not going to be a drop after Trump's silliness.

    C) The drop is irrelevant. There is no way the NFL is going to order it's players to stand during the national anthem and risk pissing off WAY more than 17.2% of their fans...not to mention their sponsors (who want nothing to do with a subject that is race-related - like it or not). Plus the NFLPA would FREAK OUT.
And eventually, the die-hard NFL fans will come back - Trump or not - for certain. It's not like there is another pro football league to watch on Sunday's (outside of the CFL).

Other then getting Trumpbots to flip out for a few weeks/months...Trump's nonsensical and divisive statements on this will end up changing nothing in the end except make a LOT more players kneel and make Trump look like even more of a closet White Supremacist.

Ugh. My season ended yesterday with one second left on the clock. That dsmn penalty by the O lineman cost them the game. All I have left now is to root against Dallas (sorry Sage) and the patriots the rest of the year.

I know Sage is a Cowboys fan and because I like him, I can forgive him that transgression.:p

That game yesterday was heartbreaking. You know that your season is in trouble when the freaking Jets and Cleveland have a better record.

If I were Ben McAdoo, I'd beat the **** out of all of them.

Yes. Basic cable only show a few games on Sunday but if you have a pirated fire stick or cable box you can find every single game and every single PPV event as well. I'm not saying protest have zero effect on ratings but there are other factors in play also

Not true. I attended giant games in the 80s and they were on the field back then.

I still haven't seen a statement from Jones about Trump's words. Did he come out and say anything yet?

How does not televising the anthem give kneeling during it a free pass?

We're talking about Sunday Night Football. It's the only game shown at that time and it's the same game shown across the entire country. We aren't talking about the other games on Sunday where you only get to see 2 or 3 at a time because the whole league is playing and Direct TV is the antichrist who holds the rest hostage with their ridiculous choke hold on the networks causing most folks to just go online and stream the rest.

I'll buy that folks pirate the other games on Sunday, nobody is pirating the only game on Sunday night that you can watch on basic cable.

No the conversation is not Sunday Night Football the conversation is football ratings. All football ratings aren't based off Sunday Night Football

It's a philosophical thought experiment. Kinda like: If Sheryl Crow shits alone in the woods do bears only use one square of toilet paper to wipe their mouths after eating her?

    That help?

All over outrage that is so unnecessary. Is this literally going to be the conservatives version of the leftist outrage over Trump's election? This is so stupid, its hard for any rational thinker to comprehend. The mute button is available, you know. Or even better, the power button.

    No worries,

Yeah I agree the player protesting issue is a contributing factor to the overall ratings decline but nobody really knows how much of a factor it is. There have been polls conducted that range from anywhere from 2% to 28% so they really have no idea.

The NFL getting so strict on everything certainly contributed. Nicknames such as the No Fun League and flag football were getting thrown around for awhile after they started making all sorts of rules on how and who you can tackle and being unable to celebrate. And not allowing players to celebrate hurt the league too. They reversed that one though.

Now granted I get they need to protect their players especially in light of this whole concussion issue but this IS football. The sinister part of well....fans... likes to see somebody get knocked out of their cleats on the football field. I 100% agree with protecting the players and I support the leagues decision to do so, but there are a lot of folks who really want to see a linebacker knock a runningbacks lights out.

Plus the games do take awhile and with all of the penalties and delays and commercials every 5 seconds there really is only like 11 mins of actual football during a 3+ hour game. So that plays a part.

So yeah there is a huge number of factors that play in part in the NFL's decline in ratings. It's far from just protesting players that's turning folks away from the game.
