I think you're onto something fmw, likely fake news. The lady didn't have an oxygen tank but likely one of those really expensive high end oxygen concentrators aka oxygen machine that requires electrical power.

Hospice for 2 years? It is meant for terminally ill patients for 6 months. You can extend obviously but 2 years. Sounds like she beat the odds for along time. Sad to die from no power, but she was terminally I'll for 2 years. Just being on hospice means you are in the type of health that you could die at any given moment.

Also where in New Jersey did this happen? Was the no neighbor that they could have ran an extension cord to? Also being on Hospice would mean you probably had someone else around. When the power company came to pull the meter you think someone would have been able to point to the old lady in the bed and say that power is literally keeping her alive.
