Because I see no evidence that "what used to be the way of war in the past ain't gonna be the way of war in the future".

I think all the talk of drones and cyberspace is just a bunch of BS from people who don't want to fund an adequately large conventional (and nuclear) force.

I think you, Sandy Shanks, and your fellow travelers are a greater danger to the United States than the worst thing President Trump will ever do.

Because I think you are creating (along with many others of course) a political environment that will make the United States almost ungovernable in the future no matter who is elected president. I'll freely acknowledge that President Trump has played a roll in this as well. But he gets to do stupid things because tens of millions of Americans wanted him there to do it.

But you, Sandy Shanks and others have a choice.

    You are choosing poorly.

Its not talk. Drones have been effectively killing people for at least 15 years. Cyberspace is very real and taking down a power grid with a cyber attack is even more effective than trying to bomb the power source.

And besides all that BS as you call it already exists in things like tanks - if it wasnt for "cyber" it wouldnt be able track multiple targets and hit them in rapid succession while travelling at 40 miles an hour over rough terrain. Afterall, ya gotta get something for the trillions invested.

I realize that conventional forces are required to hold ground, but gone are the days of "over the top boys.

Drones have never played a decisive or even significantly contributed to a victory in conflict in the past. As a U.S. military officer and expert on the subject said in Foreign Policy magazine a few years ago, "In a real war, drones would be falling out of the sky like confetti".

Tens of millions of Americans wanted Trump to abuse presidential powers?

    I doubt it.

Do you deny that millions of Americans voted for Donald Trump because they felt he would "disrupt things"?

By using the power used by Obama, now it is called abuse when done by Trump.

Trump has not added to what Obama did, only removed what Obama did using presidential powers.

Well, given that stealth technology can be applied to drones, you first have to find that confetti.

Tiny drones are good for limited missions. But we have some that are large and carry hellfire missiles. Are those shot down like confetti? Bear in mind, the enemy is who lacks capability.

If you want a close up view of what happens, i suggest you read Into the Storm by Fred Franks / Tom Clancy. Clancy writes fiction but this is not fiction. Tom and Fred collaborated on this book of the Gulf Storm war.

Thanks for the recommendation. I did his Red Storm Rising, which I found enthralling and scary, but iirc his premise of a nuke free conflict was hard to envision.

Before he left for the G-7 summit Trump criticized them for booting Russia out because of her aggression in Ukraine and illegal annexation of Crimea. He then arrived late and left early, three days before the summit in Singapore. Of course, he planned it that way. That is why he chose the June 12 date for the Singapore summit.

Put a different way, because of his ludicrous, self-defeating tariffs he imposed on our friends and allies, Trump hurriedly left the meeting with the leaders of the free world so he could rush to meet a communist dictator guilty of killing his uncle and brother and imprisoning hundreds of thousands of dissidents.

Fox News and Trump pundits keep saying that Trump's meeting with the North Korean dictator is historical. It has never happened before. That much is true. There is a very good reason why all other Presidents have refused to meet with the Korean dictator until he agrees to complete, verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

I’d like to accomplish more than that [a photo op],” Trump said. But if not, “at least we’ll have met each other, we’ll have seen each other; hopefully, we’ll have liked each other. We’ll start that process. . . . But I think it will take a little bit of time.”

Good Lord. This is our President speaking!

Putin wouldn't have it any other way.

Into the Storm, a Study of Command is not fiction. It really is the Generals story of the Gulf War and his involvement. Fred Franks actually had then one star General Tommy Franks under his command. Tommy later had command when he invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. Fred had a severe war wound in Vietnam. Tommy Franks did not have a severe war wound there but he also served in Vietnam.

When it comes to the Singapore summit, there are some rather disturbing facts.

Trump himself has lowered the expectations of this summit to a photo op. He has said it is a "getting to know you" meeting and he does not expect to sign anything.

This summit is based on the wishes of the North Korean dictator. Kim invited Trump. Why? Because a one-on-one meeting with the American President has been the goal of the Kim regime for 65 years. Such a meeting increases Kim's stature and that of the military prowess of North Korea. It will be a summit of one nuclear power to another, and a great diplomatic victory for Kim.

Kim has what he needs in terms of his nuclear capability. He has the hydrogen bomb, the ability to miniaturize it, and an ICBM to deliver it. Tests are costly for North Korea. Kim sees no further need for testing.

While sanctions have hurt North Korea, her benefactor, China, can help in that regard. So can Russia.

Russia and China are allies of North Korea. The U.S. is not. The U.S. is the enemy.

It is in Russia and China's interests for North Korea to remain a thorn in America's side.

Prior to meeting with Trump, Kim has held high level meetings with both Russia and China. This could be extremely important as Trump heads to Singapore.

Lastly, Kim will be extremely prepared for this meeting. The worst mistake the President can make is to believe his own propaganda and underestimate Kim. "I think I'm very well prepared. I don’t think I have to prepare very much," Trump told reporters at the White House Thursday as he posed for photos with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. "This isn’t a question of preparation. It's a question of whether or not people want it to happen, and we'll know that very quickly."

Don't play into Robert's hand. Soon he will have you talking about the Old Testament. There are important events going on that will affect our lives. We should concentrate on them. Robert can't defend Trump. So, he uses distraction to obscure the important messages.

He also uses his own ignorance to divert attention from Trump.

Well, I'm glad you recognize the Russo-Chinese-NK axis that had been evident as early as 2013. The talks could work, and/or they could fail. Whether the talks amount to more internal propaganda for the North Koreans is not a loss or a concern for the United States(though understandably, it's a concern for the irrelevant Left/Neo-cons who have been booted from power.

If the North Koreans fail to have bilateral talks with the US, we'll put them in that same basket that the Europeans are in. But we didn't lose anything by trying to talk.

People here don't have to defend President Trump. You've done nothing in attacking him for the last year and a half but repeat the same tired claims and charges.

Why should anyone have to defend President Trump from you babbling on and repeating yourself.
