Trump tweets create confusion for Republicans trying to avert government shutdown

Congressional Republicans tried to make sense Thursday of President Trump’s early-morning tweets on immigration and children’s health, as the GOP tried to muster the votes for a short-term spending bill and avert a government shutdown at midnight Friday.

With less than 48 hours before a possible shutdown, Trump on Twitter seemed to directly contradict the legislative strategy of congressional Republicans by calling for the separation of a long-term extension of a popular children’s health insurance program from a short-term spending bill to keep the government open through mid-February. While some Republicans suggested the president was endorsing the GOP’s approach, albeit sloppily, others found the tweets inexplicable and unhelpful.

“We don’t have a reliable partner at the White House to negotiate with,” Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) said as he walked into the Capitol.

“This has turned into an s-show for no good reason, and the only way out of this thing is to grow up a little bit — and I think that’s going to happen,” he said.

Okay when you have to go to Lindsay Graham for a source you you know your in trouble. Let me translate Lindsay to English for you: "Trump wouldn't sign off on my abject and total surrender to democrat talking points."

Graham needs to grow a set and understand that people aren't voting for him him so he can go cave to the Democrats.

 

Please, PLEASE, people of South Carolina, for the good of the country, toss Lindsay Graham out of office the next chance you get! Same for a whole host of other compromised Complex Republicans across the country... out out out! The Swamp can't be drained while these crooks remain in office.

 

But, as you know, the Graham/Durbin bill was a compromise including money for the wall, enhanced border security, and a DACA fix THAT 80% OF THE PUBLIC IS IN FAVOR OF.

 

When we have you criticizing Lindsay Graham, we know we are on the right path. You need to grow up and realize we have a participatory not a dictatorial government. You have to give to get.

You don't like Graham's position on immigration. Why didn't you just say so? Do you acknowledge his position is favored by the vast majority of Americans and yours is not? Do you acknowledge Drumpf said he would sign a compromise bill and now he will not?

 

Give to get ? Please! When do Democrats give ? What are they giving In this case compared to what Trump wants ?

 

They are giving by agreeing to money for the border wall THAT A MAJORITY OF AMERICANS OPPOSES.

Don reneged on his statement he would sign a bi-partisan compromise bill that provided money for the wall. End of story.
