Does that qualify as a lie or should we chalk it up to ignorance? It's usually a tricky distinction when it comes to the Liar-in-Chief.

"Well, no. The individual mandate is only part of Obamacare. It wasn’t even included in the original health care plan that Barack Obama unveiled during the 2008 campaign. The mandate did become an important element of Obamacare, and the only specific element that a majority of the public opposed. But the more generous elements of the program—like a major expansion of Medicaid, significant government subsidies for private insurance premiums, and strict protections for pre-existing conditions—are still popular, and still the law of the land."

See the definition for the word "essentially." Then remember that Obama flipped on the American voters by forcing a healthcare bill that was opposed by 2/3 of the country and had the mandate in it after he ran a campaign saying he wouldn't have the mandate. Then realize that the current tax bill is erasing that egregious deception.

Lets remember that the concept of the mandate was of Repub design as a market based alternative to what was being proposed back when Bill Clinton was prez. Also, that its inclusion in the ACA was an appeasement to health insurers who were faced with the prospect of losing money by virtue of having a high risk pool of people seeking insurance without a healthier pool of people as a counter balance. The idea of being required to get health insurance was understandably resisted by a culture in America resistant to being mandated to do anything. The flames of that natural resistance were fueled by lies from right wing media and Repubs in recognition of a political opportunity. Ultimately the mandate was ruled to be constitutional. At some point all Americans are going to need to recognize that we thrive or wither together, as an united nation. That means pulling in the same direction, even if what is required to do so means being willing to participate in a system that offers healthcare coverage for all.

And that was because of a terrifically successful propaganda campaign. The ACA is now as popular as it once was unpopular and that is because of it's performance..not propaganda. Killing it or causing premiums to rise by 10% is NOT going to be a winner

Oh... I don't know.... there is something about letting kids die because their family can't afford healthcare that... kinda gets to you....

A bit difficult to explain, though. It's something you Trump fanatics wouldn't understand, .....

If you want to commit political suicide...we can't stop you since Republicans hold both houses of Congress and the Presidency. But we will point it out to assist in that suicide.

Obama and democrats made it national law, not republicans. No matter how inconvenient it is for your political views.

Obama decieved the American people because he knew he didn’t have a good enough bill on it’s own and he needed the mandate to pay for it.

You mean the healthcare they still can’t afford because of high deductibles and out of pocket expenses?

Wouldn't all this lead to a democrat party sweep in 2018 giving you three the power to correct everything?

I would give up that sweep in exchange for the life of the children who will pay the consequences before that happens....

That's too foreign to a true partisan like you, isn't it?

    So, you missed Obamacare? Typical

Under Obamacare, increases never caused anybody to not afford health insurance.

And certainly not children who are (or were... now Republicans own it) covered no matter what.

The fact that you didn't know this is evidence of your absolute ignorance about how Obamacare works. It shouldn't surprise anybody that you contaminate this forum with opinions about matters you know absolutely nothing about.

Bwahahaha! Price increases never affect anyone that can’t afford them. Priceless. If that’s the case you qualify for Medicaid.

And my SON and his WIFE were able to afford it as were their employees...and now they all have to pay 10% more.

It's a matter of fact that the ACA was passed without Repub support, but not without Repub input. Suggesting Obama knew what the final version of the bill would look like before the months of negotiations with Repubs, the public hearings, and hours of debate in committee hearings is simply disingenuous.

Exactly. If you can't afford it, you qualify for Medicaid. See?.... Google doesn't bite. You can actually research things. But next time, if I were you, I'd do the research before you display the ignorance for all to see. It would spare you some of the embarrassment.

Negotiating? Yeah sure. He said he wasnt going to put in a mandate and that helped him beat hillary, then he flipped when he realized he couldnt pay for it.
