As late as October, just before the election, Obama was mocking the idea that there could be any intervention in our elections. It appears he lied once again.

I listen to Levin, Wilkow, Hannity almost daily and they are generally pretty good. A decade ago I would have laughed out loud at the notion that CNN, MSNBC were more of a clown show than Fox. A decade later this has come to pass. That does not change the fact that in general, these guys will not challenge some important Establishment False narratives head on. Like ... "Iran is the #1 state sponsor of Terrorism" Obama's "moderate rebel lie" ... used to justify arming and support of Islamist Extremists (including and in fact mainly Al Qaeda and those that went on to form the modern incarnation of ISIS) in Syria. An act which led to the death of 500,000, the rise of the modern incarnation of ISIS and the refugee crisis which has spread Islamist extremist ideology throughout the world. The Pentagon, State Dept, and our intelligence agencies are part of the Establishment ... along with Red and Blue political elite and the international financiers and oligarchs (who own the MSM) that pull the strings in our pay to play nation. The number of false narratives and abject nonsense coming out of these organizations and pundits is stunning. It was bad prior to 2013 but since then (when it became legal for our intelligence agencies to produce and disseminate propaganda on US citizenry) holy carp ... we are living in a propaganda state that Putin and Xi Jinping envy. Obviously these are also propaganda states but the difference is that the majority in China and Russia do not believe nearly as much of it. Russiagate (right wrong or otherwise) is being used for censor any ideas and Truths that are contrary to the Establishment false narrative and propaganda. The threat Russia poses to our electoral system is akin to a raindrop in the midst of a hurricane. How many pundits were challenged by our "fair free and objective" media for the claim that voters knowing the Truth about how the DNC/Hillary campaign messing with our electoral process harmed our electoral process. When I first heard this Orwellian doublespeak I had to do a doubletake ... "Did I just hear that". Were was the media pundit asking the obvious question " How exactly did the voter knowing the Truth about the Hillary/DNC harm our electoral process?" We hear these clowns whining about these 13 computer geeks putting "propaganda" on Facebook and claiming that this harmed our electoral process. Have you read what these ads ? Most of them are the Truth ... others are humor that could not have possibly swayed anyone and even if it did ... too bad. People are swayed by all kinds of things they shouldn't be. The real threat to our electoral process is "Internal" not External. It is a concerted propaganda attack on the US people by the Establishment. Was it Russia's fault that the NYTimes was complicit in the Rush to war in Iraq and completely ignored any sense of journalistic integrity and their own reporting in the past (something that they have since apologized for - but nothing has changed). Trillions later, thousands of dead US soldiers dead and tens of thousands physically and mentally wounded (and like 100,000 Iraqi civilians but who cares about them) we managed to turn Iraq into a Jihadist wonderland. Russiagate is being used to censor ideas that conflict with the Establishment propaganda and false narrative ... and that is that.

These attempts were no different from the past, but it was the overreaction by the State Department and the Pentagon, led by faulty intelligence that not only enabled the propaganda to reach US shores but to effectively disable a federal government. Job well done, State. Truly and wonderfully what a **** up job if there ever was one. What we need to truly figure out, is how to prevent the kind of overreaction that took place in the future. We cannot have our own State Department falling for faulty propaganda.
Considering half of America are low information, educating Americans when they are trolled by fake news be it Russian, CNN, MSNBC, WaPo NYT... don't take the bait. I don't think educating the low information will work. It would be the final nail in the Democratic party's coffin. Re: Russia's cyber attacks: The only retaliations that the federal government can conduct is a cyber attack against Russia. But the Russia would very likely counter attack with a cyber attack knocking America off the electrical grid or even worse.
