Within four days, 100,000 Americans will have died of the coronavirus.

U.S has the 6th worst per capita record after France, Sweden, Italy, Spain and Belgium.

If the curve does not pick up again, there will be 145,000 deaths by August.

By comparison, Canada has a per capita death rate of 27 per 100,000 population.

In the U.S., the rate is 44/100,000 (+62%).

    What a great success !

Glad you agree that several Democratic States have to answer for the fact that they stuffed positive COVID-19 patients into nursing homes and killed thousands.

Glad you agree that any politicians who fail to deal with this pandemic will be punished by the voters in the next election.

I do blame Trump some yes, and I can see how he was out of his depth. But the alternative we've been given is an old fossil who's mentally decaying before our eyes, that and the Democratic Governors literally BEGGED for this power, and then tried to turn it on Trump when their incompetence went sour.

    Don't make excuses.

You can't get me to swallow that a hypothetical Democratic president would have done worse.

We don't live in a parallel reality.

    Trump's the POTUS.

And this lunatic is trying to make Americans believe that what's happening is a great success.

5% of the world population but 30% of the world covid cases. MAGA! Maybe the rest of the world should protect itself from the US.

Yep, that pretty much settles any argument about trump's abilities as a leader.

Oh wait, I forgot to mention that he never takes responsibility for anything.

Could've been a lot worse. How many Americans do you think would've died anyway of the virus if the government response had been almost perfect?

    Be honest.

No one should take responsibility for something they are not directly responsible for.

I'm sure the hundreds of thousands of grieving families will be glad to know that.

Considering Trump has made America great again, I would have hoped for results similar to Germany, South Korea or Canada.

On November 3, the voters will certainly choose a leader who doesn't shirk his responsibilities.

    they were always gonna die.
Our measures were aimed at not overwhelming the health care system, which it was not.

Why try to personalize things? Private tragedy should not make public policy.

Governor Cuomo himself said basically the same thing a couple of days ago.

    https://trumpdeathclock.com/

The lack of an early ramp up/approval of mass testing combined with weeks of inaction and downplaying the threat of the virus put the estimates around 50K fewer deaths.

You can look to the mortality rate of the virus in countries like Germany and South Korea to see could have been the case in the United States.

Would love to see you back up your ****, just once.

Here are two studies regarding the potential benefits of what could have been had action taken place sooner:

If US had started social distancing a week earlier, about 36,000 fewer people would have died, study says

One Decision on Social Distancing Could Have Prevented 90% of US Coronavirus Deaths

ROFL, you're not referencing to Joe Biden are you? Because he doesn't even know what DAY it is, let alone his responsibilities.

Oh? Did you sing the same tune after 9/11 when it was time to support the drumbeat to invade Iraq? Or when Trump brought families of victims of immigrant crime to Congress to support his wall?

I supported invading Iraq long BEFORE the 9/11 attacks. I wrote letters to President Bush advocating it.

There's no basis to make such a claim, that if we social distanced a week earlier we would have so many less deaths. It's now been over two months and we're still having 20,000 new cases daily. What a stupid article you shared.

The "basis to make such a claim" are the results of the studies being reported upon by those "stupid articles."

"What could have been had action taken place".
    That's a gem right there.

The null hypothesis is in effect till you prove otherwise. I don't have to "back up" the null hypothesis. You need to submit evidence sufficient to reject it.

You have to prove that we caused a decrease in the peak height of the epi curve and that it lead to fewer deaths over time. Until then, it didn't.
That's how real science works, counselor.

If the statistics eventually show more Democrats got it than Republicans, and we may see that in the polls, we can say the phrase, "A lack of personal responsibility spread the virus in Democrat strongholds," or we can say, "Democrats were sheep, following Trump's lead." Problem is many Republicans are dumb as a brick, and don't want to wear masks (because they want to evolve viruses), or don't want wash their hands now that it's said it's not the primary way to catch it, so you could claim Typhoid Mary was a Republican.

It will be interesting to see the election results.
