11-year-old, upset at having to clean room, shoots grandmother before killing self

An 11-year-old Litchfield Park boy shot his grandmother before turning the gun on himself after refusing to clean his room Saturday, officials said.

Yvonne Woodard, 65, and her husband lived with their grandson in a home on the 800 block of West Grove Street in Litchfield Park, according to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez.

The grandfather told MCSO detectives they had asked their grandson to clean his room, but he was being stubborn about it.

I agree a mentally challenged 11 year old should not have had access to the gun. Tragic situation.

 

This is the result of the toxic culture liberals have created in America

 

When I was 11 years old, I had access to numerous loaded firearms but I was taught much earlier to respect what they are & want they can do.
I suspect that there were previous signs of mental illness in an 11 year old that would shoot anyone that were ignored by the parents.
Responsible parents would have sought treatment for this obviously troubled child earlier on as well as securing their loaded firearms.
This tragedy has nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment and everything to do with bad or absent parenting.

You should be proud of yourselves. Certainly, children and mentally unstable people should not have access to firearms. You are not saying much about your own mental state of mind when you make a thread based on the fallacy that those who support the second amendment also support murder. At least this tragic loss of life gave you a reason to take a cheap shot. Worth it, right?

 

Why was the grandmother not armed when asking the boy to clean up his room?

 

Bravo sir! If only we abolished the second amendment, the child would never have been mentally unstable.

You are being dishonest. (Except fir the part about not applauding your words) This is one case where both sides should be in complete agreement. Children should not have access to guns. The fact that he is being raised by grandparents says a lot about his life.
