That is all that is needed.
Would you support a law that allowed abortion only for cases of rape and incest? I suspect not, so what is the value of your argument? If some can be aborted, all must be subject to abortion?
I would support a law that provided for no abortions after fourteen weeks except in cases of pregnancy by rape and incest, health and life of the mother, and non-viability of the fetus.
How many of you pro-birthers would accept that?
That's plenty. Either one would be a pinnacle.
Why should an exception for late-term abortion be made in the case of rape?
If anything, a woman who was raped knows something could be wrong, so she's in a better position to stay on top of things and make sure the termination happens earlier, if that's the route she wants to go.
Actually, there are additional considerations, one being the mass of common law against trespass.
Another is the devolutionary nature of propagation by rape. A major factor in sentient species' evolution is choice of mate by the female, who almost always seems to have the right to refuse a mate.
Using children as political pawns is the most sickening thing about this thread.
And this is why children shouldn't be used as pawns. Do you think all these ideas she had were her own? Give me a break. Her parents should be flogged for putting her out there on such a hot topic.
We should be talking about parenting here, not abortion.
Wow that is an amazing post. Smart person aren't you?
Maybe a judge should be assigned to determine the genetic qualifications of the alleged rapist before an abortion is automatically permitted. (Heck, maybe that should be the case for all abortions)
I'm just saying, in a perfect world...
Hey look, I'm anti-abortion and therefore I disagree with pro-abortion people. However, do I think that they are equal to slave owners who beat up black kids? I do not. The little girl's parents crossed the line into stupidity in fitting that into her speech. This is no different to people on the left saying that if you don't want gun reform, then you don't care about kids dying.
Not that you agree that pro-abortion are equal to slave owners who beat up black kids, right?
What about when it's not rape?
Just out of curiosity I would like to ask, for those who would make all abortion -- except perhaps in the case of rape or incest -- illegal, at what stage of pregnancy should this apply?
Should the 'morning-after' pill be illegal? Or, once a sperm has embedded itself in an egg, is that 'human life', and thus sacred?
In the case of rape, what justifies the exception? That the woman finds the idea of having her rapist's (innocent) baby too horrible to contemplate? So that catering to her understandable repulsion justifies killing an innocent child? But if this is so, what about a woman, not raped, who experiences an identical repulsion about her unwanted pregnancy? She coupled with someone in a moment of weakness, but now despises him. Human emotions are not always rational. What repulses me may delight you and vice versa.
I understand, although I disagree with, people who have the 'absolutist' position on abortion: once the sperm has united with the egg, that's a human being, and we may not kill it deliberately, no matter how the sperm got there, and no matter how closely its genes match the genes of the egg: it's an innocent human life and innocent human life should be treated as sacred. (We wouldn't kill the newborn child of a rapist, nor would we kill the newborn child of an incestuous union. So why is it justified to kill those children before they are born?)
What I don't understand is people who believe abortion is murder, but are okay with murder up to a certain point, or if the child to be murdered has the wrong father.
She knows that it's murder. That's all that matters.
I think that you're seriously underestimating kids. So when she's an "adult" you say? So, what's an "adult?" The legally defined "adult?" What magically occurs on a human beings 18th birthday which makes them suddenly able to form their own opinion? I will say that I don't think the slavery part of the speech is her own.
So then you're also against using kids for promoting gun control?
If you think all of this, then how are you "not in favour of abortion?" You seem pretty in favour of it. Not to mention your earlier argument that abortion can lead to financial struggle.
The abortion procedure being part of the health system IS the government's business. I guess government should get out of the abortion business then so that women can be left alone with their own bodies? Or do they NEED government so that they can have a regulated abortion?
How are people okay with murder up to a certain point?
She’s a teenager who knows her own mind and is articulate
Thsts a combination that liberals fear
The only thing that forces a woman to carry a fetus to term is BIOLOGY!
Presumably you would say that a born rape child should not be able to be killed. Why?
Or else don't have the incendiary at all.
Who or what forces a woman to carry a fetus?
It can be argued that abortion is more harmful than slavery in Ametica was
And I suspect that little girl could make that argument more convincingly than you can support the claim that she didnt write the speech herself
A choice in what?
What are you referring to here?
Pinnacle of what?
