TALLAHASSEE — Two Florida Democrats are suing to block Bernie Sanders from running as a Democrat in the state’s March 17 presidential primary.

In a lawsuit filed Monday in circuit court in Leon County, the plaintiffs ask that Sanders be disqualified from the Democratic primary because he’s a declared independent. The complaint also seeks to prevent state election officials from counting any votes Sanders has already received. More than 244,000 Democrats have already voted by mail in Florida.

The knives are out for Bernie in the Democrat party.

In this case, Dems are trying to take Bernie off of primary ballots-and also to not count Bernie amongst people who voted by mail.

Is this what democracy looks like to democrats?

The Dems’ action will suppress voter turnout and they will lose the Presidential election as well as some Congress Critter elections.

I could see Dems trying to take him out at the convention-but it looks like they aren't going to wait for that-perhaps because of how poorly "establishment" Dems are doing currently.

What will Bernie's prize be this time when he rolls over and lets the DNC steal his nomination? last time he got a third house, what will he go for this time, perhaps a yacht. Like thousands of Vermonters he will have a summer yacht. He is so for sale it is laughable.

Note to self. Run as a democrat next cycle, promise EVERYTHING in the world will be free, guarantee to cure cancer, offer a living wage to all citizens of $1 million dollars a day, get the stupid millennial voters all excited then get my summer camp when I bow down to the powers that be.

I don't know what Sanders is thinking.

He wants to tax "billionaires" (he used to say millionaires and billionaires until he himself become one),

If Bernie were to win in November-I'd expect those people would sent their money out of the country to keep it from socialists.

Florida's a little weird imho anyhow when it comes to the issue of Independents. (They actually call us "NPA", for no party affiliation, for whatever that little piece of trivia is worth.) We also can't vote in primaries. It's like Florida is determined to pigeonhole everyone as a D or an R. They were probably frothing at the mouth at the chance to boot Bernie from the Dem primary for being -gasp- an Independent.

I'm also not surprised it's Leon County leading the charge. They're sort of like the California of Florida counties, rofl. They were one of the only counties to go for Bill Nelson (Dem) for Senate (he lost) and they were one of the only counties to go for that idiot Andrew Gillum (Dem) for Governor (thank God he lost too.) Leon County is bluer than blue.

Most of his proposals still tax millionaires. What ones are you referring to that only tax billionaires?

Party affiliation should not be allowed on ballots.
Our two party system is one of the major issues this nation faces and one of the few things the founding fathers thought would destroy us...

So both R's and D's have closed primaries?

I would have thought a blue county would want Bernie.

Bernie used to talk about taxing millionaires and billionaires until he himself become a millionaire.

Now in his speeches he only refers to billionaires.

I'd expect people would send their money out of the country before a Bernie could be sworn in.

    However-Bernie won't win.

Should be an interesting debate tonight.

Hell must have frozen over. I agree with you.

Now that you phrase it that way re a blue county wanting Bernie, you have a point. But it's a blue county which includes our state capitol, so lots and lots of politicians and whatever all other corrupt crap goes along with that. Who knows who is pulling the strings there.

You didn’t answer the question. What proposals does he have that only target billionaires?

After 2016, the DNC changed it's rules to make all candidates sign a pledge that they are Democrats and would run according to the Democrat platform

Bernie signed the document. He is a Democrat now. Wink. Wink. Nod. Nod.

They should have sued him for "breach of contract".

This is worded awkwardly. Only Democrats can vote in a Democrat primary and only Republicans can vote in a Republican primary. As a 21 year resident of Florida, and an independent, I simply change my affiliation depending on which primary I want to vote in that year. I'm currently registered as R, but that was because I wanted to vote for Ron Paul. It's been that long since I cared which loser either party put up, so I simply sit them out.

Socialists never sell socialism with detailed proposals. They sell the big ideology and the standard platitude of stealing from the rich to give to the unwashed and underemployed masses.

He used to say "Millionaires and Billionaires". After he got called out for being a millionaire, he started only talking about how the Billionaires are going to pay for "free everything".

You are attempting to derail the thread-I never said his proposals only target Billionaires.

That's exactly why Trump and Bernie have loyal followers. They don't care what the DNC and GOP stand for and they don't care about "party rules".

The other DNC candidates signed pledges to the DNC to espouse the goals of the DNC. Now they all sound the same and only differentiate on individual personality, male/female, ancestry and "likeability". Sixteen GOP candidates in 2016 all sounded like "vanilla conservative" promoting the GOP platform and rules...except Trump who often said, "I don't care. I'm not a Republican".

People are sick and tired of all politicians parroting the same propaganda, except liberal versus conservative "party" propaganda.

I don't think people even care much if Sanders is a Socialist and/or Trump is a Nationalist. Anyone who gets up on a soapbox and sounds like they have their own "Independent" ideas is getting a following these days.

By Bernies own words he is not a Dem. I haven't verified the sources given for his statements but maybe someone will =

An utterly IDIOTIC Lawsuit (with Zero Merit).

Sanders is a DEMOCRAT for the purposes of the Presidential Race.

    https://www.npr.org/2019/03/04/7001...files-to-run-as-a-democrat-and-an-independent

This whole "story" in the OP is just more of the same completely manufactured mock outrage from the RW looking for any reason to slam the Dem.Party.

    ^And Everybody KNOWS that.

So, as expected, since apparently some people at PF feel the need to keep us all updated as to all of the latest RW Mock Outrage Stories (if only for the purposes of comic relief) we have come to expect 5 or 6 threads a day like this.

It is what it is.:smh: :bored:

So Dems aren't suing Bernie Sanders in Florida?

A simple yes or no will do.

How exactly does the "RW" figure into this?

Maybe they should try posting on a political opinion forum.

    Oh, wait.
