    I have a nice account of my own to add;

I was working at a Gas station at night and would as my last task take care of the receipts, then lock up For the night, it was around 10 pm, as I closed the gate.

I saw a car and a motorcycle with a rider, at the far end of the station near the price sign, I was armed, I had recently obtained
a Mossburg 500 pistol grip shotgun, I had it with me, I had just cleaned & lubricated it, loaded it with 8 rounds, 4 round of
    00 Buckshot and 4 slugs..

I raised the Shotgun, and suddenly, the car and Motorcycle engines roared to life and tyres shreiking, they burned rubber in the opposite side of the station away from me, against traffic, shifting to the correct side of the road once the divider ended.

The result would have been much worse had I not been Armed.

At the same Station, I heard a Diesel engine idling, I lived in a large RV parked on the side of the station, my dog was barking, I figgered it was the station rollback there to do a tow, I went outside to help out (unarmed) pretty stupid, there I saw a bunch of white guys, maybe Russians, with a rollback truck, a large forklift,, getting ready to steal a very expensive Land Rover.

I yelled (unwisely) that I would be getting a Gun and letting loose the dog ( not really, I like my dog)
    They left without the car.

And yes, I would have fired on them willingly....

I cycle 30-40 miles a day when the weather complies, much of it on rural country roads. I carry when I ride. Three years ago, early spring I had a good size pack of feral dogs pop out of a creek bed and come after me. Within a few minutes they had caught up to me and it was obvious I had triggered an attack and while I am fast on my bike, they were faster. I dismounted my bike my bike, used it as a shield, but they started to surround me. I drew and fired into ground, but that only caused a minor pause; they weren't deterred and I had to put one down, the largetest one, before they withdrew. I reported the incident and it turned they had attacked and killed a couple of do domestic dogs in that area, threatened a few other people and killed a sheep. The sheriff organized a hunt... they took twelve of them (I didn't see that many) not far from where I encountered them, as I understand. It's not always the two legged threats that are of concern. Pepper spray might have worked, but the Glock left no doubt. They were bing dogs, hated to do that, but I decided not to get bit or worse.

I suspect your incidents didn't make the stats on gun defense.... large number don't. Sometimes guns solve problems without being discharged.

This show cases the fallacy of believing that the Police will save anyone, here I was living and working in a deserted Gas station in an Industrial Non residential Area, without Guns I would probably be dead now.

Why a would I ever believe Anti Gun advocates when everything I have ever experienced in Life is proof to the contrary ?

Incidents like mine are seldom reported.

One thing I noticed was how the shop building was pocked with bullet holes.

    One evening, I was installing two cameras in top of the R.V. in strategic directions, the Portland Police drive up and ask;

    What are you doing ?
I am dressed in a conspicuous Gas station uniform and cap.

I got pretty annoyed and let them know I worked there, and let them know I was not very thrilled with them, they simply drove
    off ... .

Another time, the Portland Police were parked in front of the R.V. I said
    "Good Evening !"
They burned out as if spooked by Frankenstein's Monster.......

Police say a fatal shooting Tuesday night at a Moncks Corner home was justified because the homeowner was protecting his family from a home invasion.

Police Chief Rick Ollic told reporters Wednesday afternoon their investigation revealed a man the Berkeley County Coroner identified as Elijah A. White, Jr., 30, forced his way into a home on Post Oak Court off Highway 52. White was armed with a handgun and wearing a mask and gloves, he said.

"We also retrieved from him rope, which I believe he was going to tie up the victims if he got into the residence, so there was no doubt he was there to do some serious harm to this family," Ollic said.

The homeowner fired his gun when White burst into the home, fatally striking him, Ollic said.

Police also arrested a woman they say went to the door posing as a representative of a homeowner's association and was wearing a fake badge that read, "HOA."

Juanita Marie English is charged with first-degree burglary and criminal conspiracy, Ollic said. She was in bond court Wednesday night where she received a $125,000 bond.

Ollic was also present during the bond court hearing and told the judge that he believes English is a "threat to society."

"[The victims] are absolutely traumatized," Ollic told the judge."The female victim, it's unbelievable what she went through last night."

In addition, Ollic said the victim's two young children witnessed the home invasion and shooting.

Police say English spoke to the resident about the neighborhood, then signaled to White, who ran to the door and forced his way in.

The victim told police he was holding a handgun with a laser pointer.

As she tried to close the door, White kicked in the door, breaking the door frame and knocking the locking device off and forced his way inside, Ollic said.

According to court records, the victim's husband then came downstairs armed with a gun and shot White who was found dead in the front yard.

"The homeowner at that location, protecting his family, returned fire at the subject, and killed him as a result of the incident," Ollic said.

I have relatives in Tyler who are Federal attorney, state judge, and DEA agents. That's the wrong town to be a criminal in.

My judge relative secured his courtroom with his Kimber .45 during the domestic shooting on the courthouse steps about 10 years ago where a CHL holder was killed by a body armor wearing thug who was trying to kill his ex wife and son.

Homeowner's son shoots, kills three would-be burglars
Three would-be robbers were shot and killed Monday when an Oklahoma homeowner's son opened fire on them with an AR-15, authorities said.

Wagoner County sheriff's deputies were called to the home in Broken Arrow, southeast of Tulsa at around 12:30 p.m. local time. When they arrived, they found the three dead suspects and two uninjured residents.

Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Nick Mahoney said the suspects enetered the home through a glass back door with the intent to burglarize it. It was not immediately clear why they picked that home.

Mahoney said the suspects encountered the homeowner's 19-year-old son, who opened fire after an exchange of words. Two of the suspects died in the home's kitchen while a third was found in the driveway.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspects were armed, but Mahoney said the preliminary investigation indicated the shootings were in self-defense. The homeowner's son volunteered to give a statement at the sheriff's office.

The AR... low recoil, easy operation, easy aiming for anyone.

Three less dirtbags that will never hurt another human being.

That young man's father should get a medal for training another sheepdog.

Like I have posted elsewhere, both of my daughters are well trained on many weapon platforms and in martial arts. Lol... it avoided me having to vet their boyfriends when they reached their teens; they are petite, but few fellows would be able to overcome their abilities without consequence.

But, they were turning their lives around and getting ready for college........ Now they can help educate medical students and morticians. They shouldn't have brought a knife and brass knuckles to a gun fight.

It's not an "assault rifle". It's a "defense rifle".

What is really rich is when a criminal thinks he is attacking a defenseless mark, and that mark pulls out a gun and blasts his attacker.

I will never lose any sleep over defending myself from criminal attack.
