Well it looks like you're right and I stand corrected about the vast majority of historians getting the cause of the war right.

But many parts of our country and many of its citizens believe otherwise:

If nothing else, President Trump and the Republicans are making Civil War revisionism great again. A couple of weeks ago, North Carolina GOP state Rep. Larry Pittman argued that Abraham Lincoln was “the same sort (of) tyrant” as Adolf Hitler, and was “personally responsible” for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans in an unnecessary and unconstitutional” war.

White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly was the guest for the premiere of Laura Ingraham’s new show on Fox News Channel on Monday night. During the interview, he outlined a view of the history of the Civil War that historians described as “strange,” “highly provocative,” “dangerous” and “kind of depressing.”

But it will take more than that to fix the way slavery is taught in Texas textbooks. In 2010, the Texas Board of Education approved a social studies curriculum that promotes capitalism and Republican political philosophies. The curriculum guidelines prompted many concerns, including that new textbooks would downplay slavery as the cause of the Civil War.

...the United Daughters of the Confederacy, offer an inaccurate version of history that downplays the role slavery played in the Civil War...

The South still lies about the civil war
In an ongoing revisionist history effort, Southern schools and churches still pretend the war wasn't about slavery... ...Virginia school officials were chagrined to learn that one of their state-adopted textbooks was teaching fourth graders that thousands of loyal slaves took up arms for the confederacy.

So while you're correct, it's not like our highest government officials, our schools and our churches have any effect on Americans or how they view the cause of the war...

Clearly you missed the point. I do not fear you folks doing this, I am not afraid of opening Pandora's Box, the point was that if liberals do this, it will be returned to them in kind in the future. You folks never think these things through, and then you whine and complain when it does, like you didn't start it in the first place...

Many parts of our country and many of its citizens believe the federal government might be hiding the bodies of aliens at Area 51.

    Means nothing.

Most history is recorded in a biased manner. Prior to the elective representative government, most historians were sponsored by the ruling dynasties, or at the least subject to reprisals from them. Even so, much of recorded history falls within the mindset of the era. Reading the accounts of all sorts of folks at any given time, one would note that what's recorded is rarely objective. The bias we see now is attempts to frame history within the standards of today's so-called historians, who have proven to be emotionally over-sensitive morons...

That doesn't even make sense, the country is prospering under Trump, unless of course you are an illegal alien who shouldn't be here anyway. I fail to see how history could look upon the Trump administration to date with anything negative beyond the over-emotional whining of those who oppose him. The numbers simply don't support rating Trump negatively. The economy is doing well, unemployment is low, and law and order is being restored. That is the sort of criteria that history will see, not the ocean of liberal tears because Hillary didn't win...

All you can do is talk politics while this thread and myself are not political. When a president is not doing their job, or might be an embarrassment, no matter what party they belong...something needs to be changed...

So far every month of Trump has been better than ANY month of Obama, I'll use that as my standard...

Obama was way more embarrassing and greater disaster and you remained silent, save your pretending to be non-partisan for someone that might be dumb enough to buy such lies...
