    API Chief: Offshore Oil and Gas Production Could Create 800,000-Plus U.S. Jobs, $200 Billion Annually to Treasury
    January 9, 2017 – Jack Gerard, president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute, said last week that opening up offshore production of oil and natural gas could create more than 800,000 U.S. jobs and provide some $200 billion in revenue to the federal Treasury.

    He doesn't have offshore accounts. And we don't need the oil. The oil companies have enough leases with wells to provide all the oil we need for many, many years.

    What we need is a "Manhattan Project" on alternative energy. That will create jobs, reduce the amount of oil we have to burn, and benefit the world climate.
