There are places in the world where it is possible to live very comfortably on nothing but Social Security. I am sure that the local economies in those places are benefitting from the foreign exchange. Some of these places also have world class medical facilities at a fraction of the cost that we are paying here in the USA.

That lifestyle is only possible because of the USD exchange rate with the local currencies. If the dollar were to collapse or Social Security were to fail then those expats would fall into the same poverty as the locals.
