    10,265 gun-related murders, 2018.
1 gun in 41.2 million used to commit murder
99.99976% of guns are not used to commit murder.

3 mass shootings with 'assault weapons', 2018, with 32 deaths
1 'assault weapon' in 5.6 million used in an 'assault weapon
99.99822% of 'assault weapons' are not used in a mass shooting

And yet, the anti-gun left wants to ban - even confiscate - 'assault weapons' and add any number of other restrictions on the ownership and use of other firearms.

What rational, reasoned person thinks these people are motivated by public safety?
    Why?

    10,265 * 41,200,000 = 422,918,000,000 guns

That can not possibly be correct. That would mean that there are over 1000 guns per person in America.

It appears that their only concern is projecting an image of having concern.

They know the facts of the matter will not allow them to push their agenda, so they sensationalize the absurdly rare, hoping to prey upon the emotions of the ignorant.

It would be hard to find a weapon in common use for traditionally lawful purposes that would be more useful in the service of the well-regulated militia than the AR15.

And no more legitimate use for an ar 15 than resistant the government's efforts to confiscate it.
And no less legitimate use of government than to confiscate ar 15s

Of one thing virtually all the founding fathers agreed, was the first duty of the government they were advocating was the preservation of liberty, not safety, but liberty. Don’t believe that, read the minutes of the First Continental Congress, their correspondence and the Federalist Papers... all available to read on line.

The gun control debate was settled in 1791.

Average value of 1500 dollars at least.

That gives us a buy back bill of at least.

    2.55 billion dollars.

Thats just a minimal dollar cost.

It would also completely destroy the social fabric of this country. America would not survive it, nor should it.

Plus any buy back would have to include all at acessories including ammo and gun safes, targets, every thing people bought for their Ar rifles. We'll also owe gun manufacturers billions of dollars for all the research they have done to develop and manufacture products they can no longer sell. And all the accessory manufacturer
Lets just call it a couple trillion dollars..

Just for an AR buy back.. shall we talk about other semi auto rifles now?

Or do gun grabbers just want good people who own guns to go to hell.
Don't answer that we already know.

    Great post, great point.
It's clear the anti-gun mind is not motivated by the larger picture of public safety at all. I think it is a basic fear of what they do not understand, part of which is what they do not want to understand.
I think many fear guns as some fear snakes; suspecting that the object wishes them harm and is stalking them- thus it's very existence is a threat, so rid the world of them. It's the effect of micro-focus, refusing to consider the rest of the facts, which in part you have just presented. Doing so would also require them to accept that the choice to do harm- be it with a gun or any other thing which can become a weapon- is, first and always made by a person. Take the unstable, hostile person out of the picture, and nobody is murdered, regardless of the number of guns or weapons available. However acknowledging that returns the accountability to people like them, and that concept scares them even more. They do not want to consider that they might well be part of the problem, separated only from those who would kill by a state of mind- and their personal responsibility for it.

This seems a bit like the person who wants to control themselves by removing temptation- ie; If we don't allow cigarette in the house, then I can't smoke one...
which of course, does nothing to change the mindset.

If you're a politician it's an emotional issue that might get you some votes.

If you're Big Money giving to politicians and want to see the USA fall it's an ideal way to weaken the populace, just keep giving money and directing politicians to register and confiscate firearms in any way possible and to continue to go easy on criminals so there is more gun violence to keep folks shook up.
