Not enough people are able to return fire. When half the people are carrying concealed firearms public shootings will be very rare.

You must live in a very uncivilized part of the USA. Never in my lifetime have I heard a gun fired in anger in the USA.. Never. Not once.

The fault lies 100% with liberals. I watch the Police Activity/Donut Operator channels frequently. In a recent posting, a violent thug was shot and killed by cops after shooting at the cops. The violent thug had 40 felony arrests and yet was out on the street. When violent predators are free to roam with little fear of consequences, the results are hardly surprising. For example, the left was outraged after this scumbag was taken out even though he had shot one of the cops and was beating him in the head with a gun when killed. The left always take the side of the predators and never take take the side of their victims. Disarming ordinary citizens is just another example of that.

I apologize for the harsh language in my earlier comment to you but I don't know what else you would expect after writing such insulting and hyperbolic nonsense and slandering all gun owners as "... like alcoholics".

If you had indeed "... lived all over", I wouldn't have to explain the importance of armed and competent individuals in keeping everyone a little safer.
It is perhaps because of the deterrent factor of countless quiet and calm armed individuals around you that you have not been endangered.

If you had read the excellent article submitted by @Doofenshmirtz, you would have seen that the vast majority of LEOs (91%) support the right of citizens to carry concealed firearms(1)

    Re:
Perhaps I was not clear regarding my neighborhood. I currently live in a quiet, rural area where the only times I've deployed a firearm was to target shoot and remain proficient or to put a severely injured wild animal out of its misery.
It was while living and working in an inner-city neighborhood that I had my hostile encounters and I'm not including my military time in Laos or the Middle East as a civilian during the '73 War.

    (1) “Police Gun Control Survey: Are legally-armed citizens the best solution to gun violence?”

    https://www.police1.com/gun-legisla...st-solution-to-gun-violence-7uwWgZ75iwWz9vI9/

EXCERPT "More than 91 percent of respondents support the concealed carry of firearms by civilians who have not been convicted of a felony and/or not been deemed psychologically/medically incapable." CONTINUED

Philadelphia has already seen 400 gun homicides so far this year as it speeds toward a new gun death record.

And gang violence in the cities should affect policy in my Appalachian area because...?

Take your bleeding heart elsewhere, us country and mountain folk don't have the time for it.

Why? Because guns? The logic doesn't follow. People don't kill each other simply because they have a gun. They kill each other for some motive. What is the dominate motive that is causing people to kill each other?

Could it be the shut down of social services caused by the pandemic lock down?

Could it be jobs lost by the lock down?

Could it be poor policing and a raise in criminal activity due to a reduction in resources caused by the lock down?

Nah. Must just be too many guns.

Guns make it easy to kill other people often those not even the intended victims. Most city killings involve at last one innocent non targeted victim being caught in crossfire.

I am in my early seventies. Three times in my life I have had to rely on weapons to insure a peaceful resolution of a situation.

If guns weren't so prevalent and easily obtainable in our society you would not have needed one !!!

I'd rather not base policy on stats that are pulled from rear ends. Your claim is highly suspect. Care to substantiate it?

Also you didn't answer my question. What is the motive for the killing? Gun ownership?

Will taking guns from old men, women with stalker exes, and vets that sought help for PTSD stop youth gangs from warring with each other?

How terrible is it that if a vet seeks help to cope with the trauma they endured defending the constitution, we strip away one of the rights they fought to defend?

Pretty terrible if you ask me.

If it wasn't so damned easy for those youth gangs to obtain guns, then we wouldn't have a thing to worry about in the good old USA. But it is easier for youths to buy a gun in most cities than to buy cigarettes.

I guess Ddyad's comment "IMO, you are not even fooling yourself" is incorrect... you actually are "fooling yourself"

The other side of the coin is the drugs they are fighting over. Pretty easy to get those too. The drugs are illegal. What would be different about guns?

""Trump's FBI""... no... they're are putting their efforts into a coup to overthrow a duly elected president, which happens to be Trump.
