The study has indeed been read in full, and Arthur Kellermann himself admitted that his findings pertained only to individuals who were engaged in criminal activity at the time of his death.

This discussion was had between yourself and myself back in the month of August.

very few in Japan still believe that also how do you explain places like Korea and France.
The US is 27th on the list of suicide most countries higher on the list have very strict gun control if not complete gun banning.
So it has nothing to do with guns.

Sadly many people in USA do not see the tragedy of the loss of 572,000 lives in 17 years.

Sadly many people wish for authoritarian control just so they can feel good.

Confiscation of guns and drugs like Fentanyl is not authoritarian.

How exactly does such constitute a tragedy in need of being addressed?

Not enough information. What is the suicide attempt rate of those countries?

"Suicide attempts with a firearm are almost always fatal, while those with other methods are less likely to kill. Nine out of ten people who survive a suicide attempt do not go on to die by suicide later.

"Every U.S. study that has examined the relationship has found that access to firearms is a risk factor for suicides. Firearm owners are not more suicidal than non-firearm owners; rather, their suicide attempts are more likely to be fatal."
    https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/means-matter/means-matter/

If the suicide attempt rate were the same in every country then the nation with the highest gun availability would have the most suicides.

Would you support making it illegal to have armed guards at banks and museums?

That's a different study. The study I linked to in this thread is about suicide.

How many lives have to be lost in order for you to care?

The obvious question of "so what?" must be asked with regard to the above. What ultimate, meaningful difference does such actually make? What business is it of anyone if someone wishes to end their own existence?

When the matter pertains to the actions of individuals who choose to end their own existence for their own reasons, it is simply not possible to care about such, regardless of what number is presented. It is not the concern of yourself, myself, or any other individual if one decides that they are tired of existing and simply wish to end it. To care about such would imply ownership of the lives of other individuals.

The human race is not in danger of going extinct in the foreseeable future. Therefore it does not matter how many individuals go about ending their own existence, as it will ultimately make no meaningful difference in the larger scope of things.

Noted. However even in this particular study, Arthur Kellermann admitted that those who were more likely to end their own existence, were those who live alone, taking psychotropic medications, have been arrested, abused illicit narcotic substances and alcoholic beverages, and did not even graduate high school.

Arthur Kellermann further admitted that of the two counties selected for the so-called "study" one was predominately white, while the other was predominately black.

Arthur Kellermann claims that such variables were controlled for and addressed, but makes absolutely no effort at explaining how such was done, what the methodology entailed, or how it served to affect his findings.

Such matters aside, the so-called "study" revealed the case group, that being the ones most likely to commit suicide, were those who already had existing criminal histories and/or tendencies, whereas the control group did not. Meaning those who were most likely to end their own existence already could not legally own firearms. So ultimately what more can be done to address such a matter? What steps can be taken to further restrict firearms access to individuals who are already prohibited from firearms ownership under all circumstances?

Yep. The #1 cause of death for a 15-25 year old Black male is murder by gun from another Black male.

Trying to reduce suicide by infringing upon God given rights is evil. And is worthy of armed resistance..

What anti gunners don't understand is that they have already pushed as far as they can.
We are at the breaking point.

And no that's not a radical point of view.

Taking rights away from people who prevent crime is stupid.. more gun laws is stupid.

If you want people not to kill themselves then by all means help them, they need to but do it in a way that affects you, not me.

This issue boils down to hate and fear. Hate and fear together = ignorance.

So this is about ignorant people wanting control over good people. Meanwhile they have to ignore reality because the truth about gun violence is racist and cannot be addressed in any other manner. The story of gun deaths, two separate issues by the way, needs to be seriously addressed especially among veterans by the mental health industry.

Military and LE should definitely have guns. People who may use guns to harm self or others should not.

The vast majority of people who want to end their lives suffer Severe Depression. They can not make competent decisions.

Their inability has no legal or moral standing agsinst my constitutional rights. No standing! NONE.

And I'm a good person for ignoring their suffering to point it out and i will not let you demonize me for doing it..

Maybe if these people were taught to trust Jesus. They'd be less depressed.

It is sad that the lives of 572,000 people lost in 17 years matter so little to many people in USA.

It matters a lot.. it's a shame that you think violating the constitution solves the problem..

The truth? You couldn't care less about suicide. If you did. You'd be devoting your life to combat it.. instead you hate guns and gin owners and want to use those deaths as a cudgel against your intended victims.

I myself have Autism and Depression. I follow many prohibitions from my psychiatrist -- I neither drink nor smoke. Of course I have never held a gun.

I don't smoke, and drink very little, often hate my life and wish it was over, but trust that God has a plan. Part of that plan involves living free and using my free will which is so precious to Him that He will allow people to be destructive to protect it.
